Yes, it’s another Meghan thread... AIBU to think that it’s really disappointing that she left her dog behind?

I’m not a royalist.. or otherwise! Was mildly interested in the news and always happy for a bank holiday (which we probably aren’t getting anyway Hmm)

But I have followed her for a little bit recently on social media and she seemed to really love her dogs which I always find a lovely trait in a person Grin

So one dog is here, and one dog ‘is with friends’ and was apparently refused access to the uk / was too old to transport... surely when a dog is old is when he needs his owner the most? I’ve lived through that devastating time of losing a dog and they really find comfort in being with their owners. (I think)

They are rescues which she seems to advocate and I think this really sends the wrong message that they are a bit disposable. She is marrying into arguably the most powerful family in the world and she can’t get her dog here?! Hmm

I’m sure people will disagree. But just reading that and looking at my 10 year old dog sleeping on my feet, I could never leave him behind.

hopefully some of you have transported a pet from north America to the UK because the reality is you don't just pop them on a plane.
there are health requirements they may have to endure quarantine and not all airlines are pet friendly.
I've done it a few times and it's hell, starting with signing off that the airlines will not assume responsibility for any health problems. my experience is that pets are placed under the plane in the cargo hold which at this time of year is freezing.
IF the plane is delayed pets are NOT FED NOT WATERED and NOT WALKED (certainly Air Canada) they are left on the tarmac to await the next flight (so if the plane is delayed due to bad weather the pets are outside alone). one pet per travel container etc etc etc.

And there was me thinking that the thread about Kate's pregnancy was the most bonkers royal wedding thread I would read today...ConfusedGrin

MsGameandWatching · 28/11/2017 23:45

Maybe he’s a bitey dog in general or doesn’t like children and they’re scared he will take a nibble out of little George or Charlotte?

HermionesRightHook · 28/11/2017 23:48

Lots of people have to make choices like this when they emigrate - and she's super rich, it's not like she couldn't afford as many flights back as she wants to see her dog, who she has left with people who care for it.

I'm glad they've made the right choice to leave an oldish dog that isn't suitable to travel, and might not get a doggy passport to the UK, without pulling strings or putting the dog through undue hardship. It's the kinder thing for the animal, and given that she's an actress she's probably left it many, many times before when she's been filming, so it won't be missing her too badly.

Honestly, of all the things to complain about when faced with the royal family...

HermionesRightHook · 28/11/2017 23:49

(also did anyone else find it hilarious that the corgis don't like Harry?)

BewareOfTheToddler · 28/11/2017 23:50

Presumably she decided it was the best thing for the dog, not to face the upheaval of the move?

BubblesBuddy · 28/11/2017 23:53

She works on films! Who walked the dog every day anyway? Bet it wasn’t her. She’s getting fast track British citizenship so I guess the dog could have come with a few strings pulled. Perhaps it prefers where it is now?

Willow2017 · 28/11/2017 23:53

Good God the woman travels all over the world, I am sure the friends who have the dog are well known to him already.
OP do you think she takes her dogs everywhere she goes?
The dog will be just fine, all the speculation in the world isnt going to make her bring him to the UK, its her dog and she is the one who knows whats best for him not you. Just cos you read a few tweets or whatever about her dogs doesnt mean you actually know her or the dogs or have have the authority to be judge and jury over her decisions.

And as for the royal family 'pulling strings' to get her dog into the uk what a ridiculous suggestion, they arent the bloody mafia! Can you imagin the uproar if they did that?

Strokethefurrywall · 29/11/2017 00:01

Well I've heard some bullshit opinions in my time, but this OP rings the bell for number 1.
I think you're being deliberately stupid and hard of thinking OP.

NoSquirrels · 29/11/2017 00:08

Oh my - what a thread!

She travels so much her dog will be comfortable and accustomed to spending time with others.

YY to this ^^ from Booboo & others like Worra who have made the same point. Also that presumably- being someone on record as deeply committed to her rescue dogs, committed for life etc - she knows her particular dogs really well, and is a responsible kind person looking out for them.

Maybe her dog is stressed by new places/people/dogs. Maybe it loves the friends she’s left it with more than it would love coming with Meghan. Maybe she’s really upset about it but doing the right thing for the dog, rather than the “right” thing for fucking PR, and putting her personal feelings aside.

Or maybe lifestyle blogs are bullshit, who knew?

If I were Meghan M I’d tell Harry thanks but no thanks, I’d rather hang out with my dogs than be subjected to intense scrutiny over every aspect of my life from now on. Love you, Harry, but let’s not get married as my life & decisions are my own & I’d rather not be judged, thanks.

Royal crazy.

cdtaylornats · 29/11/2017 00:13

I’d rather hang out with my dogs than be subjected to intense scrutiny over every aspect of my life from now on.

You do realise she is an actress?

scaryteacher · 29/11/2017 00:43

Given they are both well off, then the dog doesn't have to fly...he can come by sea, on the QM2.

Agree with OP on this one.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 00:52

The aspect that made me wince was that she separated the two dogs.

Take them both or, if you must, leave them with wonderful people, but keep them together.

DarlesChickens61 · 29/11/2017 01:54

The dog comes way down the list here..... I hope she knows that her beloved intended spends his free time being a "Big ,Brave Man" shooting wildlife with his big, brave gun?

Hopefully she will train Harry to become a decent Human Being - who knows??

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/11/2017 02:18

They are not one of the most powerful family's

They have NO POWER. How can a family with NO POWER be one of the most PIWERFUL

to be one of the most powerful they would at least have to have some power. They have none whatsoever. Their role is purely ceromonal.

Unless you live in the 18th century when yes they had power

They can't not be argued to be one of the most powerful families

Battleax · 29/11/2017 02:27

They must have some power.

It isn't easy to secure preferential tax arrangements, lavish state funding and widespread social influence as a common or garden family of multi millionaires.

DullAndOld · 29/11/2017 02:27

Naught obviously they have power, don't be silly and naive.

FixItUpChappie · 29/11/2017 02:57

OP proves you can't please everyone. What a lot of nonsense. That selfish cow shouldn't have worked, travelled or had any sort of life once she got a dog either. One should be a martyr at all times once one gets a dogHmm

piggleiggle83949 · 29/11/2017 02:58

Fuckinghell get a grip.

The dog is being looked after. She's not turfed it out on the streets.

Maybe as a responsible owner she decided the traveling and change of climate would be too much.

Do you honestly think she should have not accepted Harry's proposal and not moved to be with him because of a dog?

DullAndOld · 29/11/2017 02:59

ye really - what utter nonsense.

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 03:03

It's a dog.

Who puts a dog before people?

Yabu.

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 03:04

Also the dog will be cared for well. I didnt know you had to give up your life for a dog.

Disclaimer I loathe dogs too.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 03:07

Disclaimer I loathe dogs too

Yes that was coming across. Don't worry.

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 03:22

Im glad it was coming across. Vile creatures. They eat shit and carrion. Why would anyone want to own one.

sheldonesque · 29/11/2017 03:38

Some people speak shit and are as appealing as carrion...
