Yes he's a violent idiot but bloody hell, 40years just seems a bit harsh for someone who.is probably more mad than bad.......when you consider a man who raped and murdered two children is being released and will serve less time than a man who's never really been given a chance it all sounds a bit ridiculous.

MANSON not Bronson please change the title!! I believe Charles Bronson was a very nice actor.

stitchglitched · 15/11/2017 14:35

One of the purposes of incarceration is to protect the public. This individual has attempted to murder several inmates, taken various civilians hostage and assaulted prison staff. Would you be okay with him moving into your street?

Insomnibrat · 15/11/2017 14:35

@InsomniacAnonymous Grin

Crunchymum · 15/11/2017 14:36

nor am I a massive, expert on Charles Bronson

Maybe you should go and have a wee Goggle then OP!!!

MissionItsPossible · 15/11/2017 14:36

YABU, 'violent idiot', 'more mad than bad' indeed. Hmm

MissionItsPossible · 15/11/2017 14:37

We're not talking about Manson though illuminousopptomist

stitchglitched · 15/11/2017 14:37

Yeah saying you 'don't know much about him' is a bit strange when you have started a thread saying he should be released. Wouldn't you at least have a quick glance at his wiki page first?

sinceyouask · 15/11/2017 14:37

Apparently he is now called Charles Salvador anyway.

Traffig · 15/11/2017 14:37

Thank you to overworked and unstaffed and underpaid prison officers and nursing staff for the difficult jobs they do.

There's always some eejit willing to post a half baked story supporting the baddies in this world just for a little bit of attention.
"Satanslittlehelper" get a life.Hmm

illuminousopptomist · 15/11/2017 14:37

Bronson first and Manson second.

Charles Bronson is correct, there is more than one of them in the world?

Although this particularly one has changed his name again

BenLui · 15/11/2017 14:38

illuminous there is a deceased American actor called Charles Bronson.

There is also an extremely violent British prisoner who changed his name to Charles Bronson. (Although he’s now calling himself something else)

The OP isn’t referring to Manson.

MissionItsPossible · 15/11/2017 14:38

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Salvador this is who we're talking about. Tom Hardy played him in a film.

illuminousopptomist · 15/11/2017 14:38

Sorry my mistake!

sashh · 15/11/2017 14:38

"I hope he never gets out. I went through hell. I have nightmares. I've suffered post-traumatic stress, had three nervous breakdowns and never worked since."

The words of an Art teacher, Phil Donaldson, held for 44 hours by Bronson.

That's just one of his victims

RedDogsBeg · 15/11/2017 14:39

illuminous we are talking about the UK prisoner Charles Bronson, now known as Charles Salvador apparently, not the American actor Charles Bronson nor the extremely dangerous American prisoner Charles Manson.

SendintheArdwolves · 15/11/2017 14:39

There are two people called Charles Bronson - one is an actor, one is a prisoner (and is now known as Charles Salvador)

Crunchymum · 15/11/2017 14:40

Oh FFS, there is an actor called Charles Bronson and a prisoner with the same name.

What is so difficult to understand about it illuminous???

MissionItsPossible · 15/11/2017 14:40

illuminous He changed his name from his original surname to Bronson after the American actor! Not sure how I'd feel about that if I were him ShockConfused

brasty · 15/11/2017 14:41

This is an article that agrees with you OP.

illuminousopptomist · 15/11/2017 14:42

OK I've caught up now everyone - thanks again!!

HousefulOfBoysNow · 15/11/2017 14:45

How anyone can read about him and think that a prison is an appropriate place for him is beyond me.

On one occasion when he took some other inmates hostage he asked them to tickle his feet and call him general.

On another occasion he asked negotiators for an inflatable doll, a helicopter and a cup of tea.

The guy is clearly mentally unwell - he should be diagnosed and treated rather than banged up in solitary.
