...to think you can't just leave 11 people waiting while you nip next door to bf your baby?

One of our neighbours is hosting a murder mystery for several couples in our cul de sac. One couple have a bf 6m baby. They have accepted neighbour's invitation and are having a grandma over to babysit. Neighbour is planning to wait for Gma's call and then she can just nip home to feed baby back to sleep if she wakes up and the murder mystery script can wait for 10 mins. Surely SWBU to expect the other 11 guests to just wait for her? V. unlikely she'll be only 10 mins. Host neighbour and I think she should decline invitation.

Maybe you could incorporate it into the script?

Pigeonpost · 17/10/2017 19:08

Well, that's charming of you. Biscuit

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 17/10/2017 19:08

An't the grandma bring the baby over since it's just down the round and the BF guest can keep on participating in the game with the babe on the boob?

Down the round - down the road

humblesims · 17/10/2017 19:09

would it be such a hassle to take a short break?

Littlechocola · 17/10/2017 19:09

Host neighbour invited her but now wants her to decline?

Can’t she bring the baby and feed as and when she needs. Less disruptive.

Taffeta · 17/10/2017 19:11

Poor woman jeez. With “friends” like you. Pfft.

Katescurios · 17/10/2017 19:11

Did the host know she was BFing exclusively when she invited her friend? If she did then what was the expectation?

  • hope that she declines
  • hope that she starts bottle feeding just so she can attended the do
  • hope that she's alright leaving her baby to cry so she can finish the game

If a short break will really affect the game then could the BFing mum be given a smaller role that will have less impact if she goes missing for a bit?

She should just bring the baby - far less hassle!

DollyPartonsBeard · 17/10/2017 19:11

Fag break, surely?!

Nancy91 · 17/10/2017 19:12

I can see both sides, but I do agree with you that it's disruptive and likely to take more than 10 minutes. Not sure what to suggest really.

Myheartbelongsto · 17/10/2017 19:13

Bunfight!

kali110 · 17/10/2017 19:15

I dont think yabu, for the reasons GrapesAreMyJam has said.
What happens if its longer than 10 minutes? Or more than once?

Atenco · 17/10/2017 19:15

Wow that party sounds like a barrel of laughs, you can't even chat and have a drink for a bit while someone feeds their baby.

grasspigeons · 17/10/2017 19:15

You can't just chat, go for a wee, pour a glass of wine for 10-15 minutes in the event the baby wakes mid script.

You don't really sound very accommodating or welcoming if you see that as an issue. It's meant to be fun.

User1457 · 17/10/2017 19:16

YABU!!!
She's probably really looking forward to it. Just chat amongst yourselves and let her feed her baby.

MsPassepartout · 17/10/2017 19:16

Can't grandma pop over with the baby if it needs feeding?

Agree a feed is likely to take more than 10 minutes if my breastfed babies are anything to go by.

ethelfleda · 17/10/2017 19:17

QueenNefertitty · 17/10/2017 19:18

YABVU.

Will nobody want a loo break, a fag break, just a bloody break in the whole course of the evening? That won't take much less time... will you be suggesting anybody who needs a shit, has a nicotine habit or stops for a non murder mystery related reason stays home too?

KurriKurri · 17/10/2017 19:18

You are right.
Fictional murders take priority over everything.
EVERYTHING I SAY.
No one must leave the premises or untold pretend mayhem could ensue.

Will no one think of the imaginary police, isn't their job hard enough ?????

MadMags · 17/10/2017 19:18

They're not really designed to just stop part way through though.

I do think host shouldn't have invited her though! If she was going to just want her not to come!

Butterymuffin · 17/10/2017 19:19

It'd have been easier to bring the baby and just carry on while feeding, as pp said.
