Aibu to think you wouldn't share this story with the papers?

Read it on The Mail so I won't link but basically British girl meets Dutch guy in Barcelona. He spends the next 3/4 months calling her and asking her to come over to Amsterdam.

She does and then he never shows up at the airport and texts her to say "you've been pigged"

Basically means pulling an ugly girl to then dump her.

He denies it but even if he did do aibu to think you would never tell this story to the world?

Whether the accusation is true or not (and if so it is cruel beyond belief), no-one should be threatening his family.

He claims that his mother and sister have been made victims of threats because of his alleged behaviour - totally unfair! They haven't done ANYTHING!

This thread is an excellent and depressing example of the lengths many will go to to disbelieve women - Agreed! How many people saying 'where are the texts then'... why would she have kept them? Who would want to see a reminder of being treated so cruelly every time they answered their phone? If a crime had been commited then perhaps wonder why she didn't keep them, but it hasn't so why on Earth would she feel the need to have 'evidence'?

As for the story, I reckon that there are 2 sides to it, with the truth somewhere in between.

I think it's hilarious. Clearly he's sworn blind to his parents that he didn't do anything so they've got a lawyer in.

Lawyer: She's just a fantasist. They never slept together.
Newspaper: We have proof they did sleep together.
Lawyer: Okay, he says they did sleep together but he didn't send the message.
Newspaper: We have proof he sent the message.
Lawyer: Okay. He might have sent the message, he can't remember. But if he did it was about Barcelona.

The paper are now going to tell them that they have proof he asked her to go to Amsterdam and the message was sent when she was there I imagine.

The poor girl said she waited for him at the airport for two and a half hours then made her way to the hotel really distressed as she did not want to be in Amsterdam on her own. She kept thinking he was running late or there had been an accident or something until late that night when he sent that horrible text.

Like she and her mother said on the interview, why on earth would they make up this story?

I saw that on This Morning and I think they said the guy had threatened legal action. What a complete arse. I can't imagine why she would make it up. Men can be real bastards sometimes.

I think the fact both she, the papers and This Morning stuck with it despite threats of legal action shows just how much success he would have with that and their confidence in her account.

Honestly, threatening legal action and hiding behind a lawyer then lying to that lawyer fits in with the cowardly, spineless impression he's given.
