You've been pigged?

Aibu to think you wouldn't share this story with the papers?

Read it on The Mail so I won't link but basically British girl meets Dutch guy in Barcelona. He spends the next 3/4 months calling her and asking her to come over to Amsterdam.

She does and then he never shows up at the airport and texts her to say "you've been pigged"

Basically means pulling an ugly girl to then dump her.

He denies it but even if he did do aibu to think you would never tell this story to the world?

I don't think she made it up. What has she to gain from doing so?

Quick and easy money and fast 15 minutes of fame?

Good on her I am sure I would have want to hide away

Such a nasty thing to do I'm glad he has been shamed so publicly and she has gained so much support

Nettletheelf · 09/10/2017 23:39

That 15 minutes of fame - for all the wrong reasons, so not the type of fame most people would want - would have been dearly bought, though, eh? And, I can't imagine she made much from selling the story either.

She's not going to turn it into a modelling career, or pulling a footballer, or going on some awful reality programme. Be honest: it's not going to happen. It's not going to serve as a warning to potential future victims and it's not going to cure men like the Dutch bloke of being arses. So why bother?

GabsAlot · 09/10/2017 23:58

if its true then good on her for shaming him

if not she should be sued for defamation

whats hapened with th case of th girl being abductd then let go is that ongoing?

MadMags · 10/10/2017 00:22

He's adamant he didn't do it...it's all very strange.

I'm assuming it'll be relatively easy to prove either way?

I'm appalled by people's stories on the thread and on social media. I didn't even know this was a thing!!!

mintinbox · 10/10/2017 00:36

I saw the photos bit odd that she's not ugly and he's not good looking.

Lagerthaisfabulous · 10/10/2017 06:17

I dont get why people, on these types of threads, are so invested in absolutely believing either of them.

The truth is we dont know. People make shit up all the time for quick cash and to get their face in the paper. They will sell a story that humiliates themseleves so that there is loads of support about how 'beautiful and brave' pops up on social media.

On the other side there people who are absolute bastards and would do this. Its nasty and cruel and possible it happened.

Refusing to jump in and 100% believe someine often brings vitrol. Especially on mumsnet. Look what happened to believe who didnt believe Surreytimes posts on here. They got called allsorts, banned etc.

And yet people still think its ok to jump on people whp are more measured and dont immeadiately believe every sob story they come across.

The truth is, that no one knows the truth at this point.

dudsville · 10/10/2017 06:20

The Shame is his, not hers. She put it where it belonged.

DressedCrab · 10/10/2017 06:29

I think it could be true.

When DH was a student there was a group of men who used to do something similar at the Friday night "fling". It was a competition to dance with the ugliest woman that could be found. Awful.

insancerre · 10/10/2017 06:32

Not sure it's worthy of being in the news

SemiNormal · 10/10/2017 06:42

Her parents have spoken about it in The Sun so I'm inclined to believe it to be honest. I can't see her parents being 'in on it' if she were lying and they'd know she'd flown to Amsterdam surely?

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/10/2017 06:43

It could be true. But we don’t know for sure. All I know is when I was younger, I was told about a guy, who would wait till 2am to find a girl her found attractive to bring home to spend the night with. If her didn’t find a girl by that time, he’d take any poor, unsuspecting girl, get them to put a paper bag over their head, fuck them and chuck them out on the street in the middle of the night. I don’t know if this story is true either. It was his friend, who told me though.

PringlesPirate · 10/10/2017 06:59

I don’t believe either of them. It’s all a bit she said he said. With no proof backing up either account and the possibility of selling your “story” for money.

TBH, if it’s true it is awful. And if it’s not true, it’s awful. I feel a bit sad that people can’t get on with their lives or get their own back for something awful that was done to them.

OnionKnight · 10/10/2017 07:01

People make up shit all the time in an attempt to be famous, like the 'model' who pretended to be kidnapped.

The woman in this case should have more evidence than one picture though.

Lagerthaisfabulous · 10/10/2017 07:03

Her parents have spoken about it in The Sun so I'm inclined to believe it to be honest. I can't see her parents being 'in on it' if she were lying and they'd know she'd flown to Amsterdam surely?

Or she has told them he has been texting her and making it up. This woman is 24. Who checks their 24 year olds travel plans? Or texts.

They havent seen proof either. Again. There is no absolute proof either way.

Welwyncitydweller · 10/10/2017 07:05

Happened to me at secondary school, I was a plain Jane A grade girl. But I do think if this was genuine she’d have shared some text evidence of the relationship?

I've not RTFT but I heard about this by watching this morning yesterday.

I seen a screenshot of the message and it said you've been pigged with laughing faces and then she replied why would you be so nasty though and he just blocked her I can try find it.

SandyDenny · 10/10/2017 07:16

It's possible imo that there is a grain of truth in the girl's Stroh but it's got out of hand and the family have found themselves caught up in a media storm and are going along with it to save face

I'd like to see some actual evidence.

Welwyncitydweller · 10/10/2017 07:17

I was thinking more of the texts they shared between meeting in Barcelona and her arriving in Amsterdam

Coconutspongexo · 10/10/2017 07:29

I don't think we will ever know if she's telling the truth or her is, if she has no texts to prove anything.

He is saying that text isn't even off him and it might not be you can text yourself and change the name even on Snapchat.

If it did happen he is disgusting but shouldn't be receiving death threats and whatever else.

If it didn't happen she's ruined an innocent lads life, I imagine this has caused a drama for him in work or uni or whatever.

Looks like she might be getting sued though if he has a lawyer.

What is truly disgusting is the grown men on the articles posted on twitter/Facebook saying she's gorgeous on her selfie but ugly/a dog/a pig on the other pics of her.

bianglala · 10/10/2017 07:37

I'm glad she did it. The next time an asshole wants to pull a stunt like this I hope they think about this guy, how he's named and shamed

OnionKnight · 10/10/2017 07:39

I'm glad she did it. The next time an asshole wants to pull a stunt like this I hope they think about this guy, how he's named and shamed

Really? Even though there's no proof he did that?

I hope you never sit on a jury.

GalaVanting · 10/10/2017 08:08

I’ve met guys who would do this sort of thing. They’d carry on the messages as an ego kick/sick joke and not really imagine she’d actually pay for a ticket. But once she had, they’d then a) feel moderately bad and b) get a massive kick out of the fact she did. And c) they’d then get a HUGE power trip out of the power from humiliating her. They’d not have planned it all but it sort of builds up and they enjoy the power trip too much and are too cowardly to stop it.

But ultimately, they don’t see her as a person.

It’s not the exact same scenario as I’ve come across before but I can see how it could easily happen as a “lads joke”.

They’re disgusting sh*ts.

GalaVanting · 10/10/2017 08:13

And I just heard a story from someone (actually in The Netherlands) about how when he was younger he and his football team (amateur) would hire (very) fat strippers and whoever lost at cards or a bet on their social nights would have to have a lap dance from her in front of the others. It was a big joke.

Yeah.

Luckily he was feeling very relaxed and told that story in front of his wife you mistake. She’d no idea they’d ever had strippers OR this was going in. She was very clearly NOT impressed so he at least has some comeuppance.

Still.
