Offensive Note On Car Today Whilst Shopping

...to feel saddened.

After shopping with my husband and three year old I discovered I had been left the following note under my wipers: "You stupid bitch. Where's your child? You have parked in a mother and baby space. Did you leave them at home?"

My three year old sat in the trolley today as we shopped. He arrivived in his car seat.

People disappoint me all the time at the moment. I did get the Manager to check the CCTV but they didnt see the note being placed.

Really?

embo1 · 31/07/2017 19:46

Someone having a bad day I guess...

ImperialBlether · 31/07/2017 19:47

Surely they'd see the car seat in the car?

Trollspoopglitter · 31/07/2017 19:49

Christ alive, you must be the happiest luckiest person on the planet if that note caused you such anguish. Most of us would have laughed and wondered if the idiot was watching you wanted the ground to swallow them up when they spotted you returning with your child.

EdmundCleverClogs · 31/07/2017 19:50

My three year old sat in the trolley today as we shopped. He arrivived in his car seat.

I'm confused. Was his car seat in your car? I don't think I know of a three year old's car seat that fits in a trolley (or should be in a trolley regardless). Happy to be corrected.

Seems like overreacting all around though. They shouldn't have left a note but I certainly wouldn't have wasted time over the CCTV, what was to be achieved?

FerretsAreFeminists · 31/07/2017 19:51

Whoever wrote that note sounds like an idiot.

One day you'll look back on this and laugh.

inniu · 31/07/2017 19:51

Ignore. I got one about 15 years ago when my eldest was a baby. At the time I still had a little 2 seater sports car and I had taken the rock a tot out as it clipped into the buggy.
I just laughed at the note.

AprilShowers16 · 31/07/2017 19:51

Argh so annoying when people do that kind of this anonymously so you can't correct them and are just left feeling rubbish. Someone once put a note on our car complaining we were parked in front of a drop curb... Only we weren't but the car in front was, I can only assume that in their anger they'd put it on the wrong car. But they were long gone so all I could do was stand there looking at the note saying 'but I didn't' to myself Grin

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 31/07/2017 19:53

If they saw you were a woman (which I infer they did, from their use of 'bitch') then they would have seen you unloading your child.

Also, I think dads are allowed to park there too, ditto grandparents etc or anyone with a child, so I don't think it's a 'mother' and baby space.

Therefore I conclude the note writer is a fucking idiot and should be pitied.

Drycleanonly7 · 31/07/2017 19:54

No Trolls...quite the reverse. I am anxious about too many things at the moment and had a rubbish day really. The note was the icing on the cake.

FerretsAreFeminists · 31/07/2017 19:55

Perhaps whoever wrote the note was a troll?

BouncyHedgehog · 31/07/2017 19:55

Christ who died and made them the car park police? Some people really have nothing better to do with their time. Comfort yourself that they must have a seriously sad and dull life if they have the time to do shit like this.

RhubardGin · 31/07/2017 19:56

But if they were watching you they would have seen you taking your child out of the car, strange Confused

Drycleanonly7 · 31/07/2017 19:57

I was starting to think that too April. The only time I wasn't with my family was when I collected the blinking trolley. I know it's something and nothing and there are worse things out there. It helps to air it here though, so thanks for the support.

OP posts:
EdmundCleverClogs · 31/07/2017 19:57

So where was the car seat?

iamyourequal · 31/07/2017 19:59

YANBU at all. But I think you mean 'the straw that broke the camel's back' or similar. 'The icing on cake' is used to illustrate really good things. Gosh the note was definitely not a good thing.

hmcAsWas · 31/07/2017 19:59

Its a mean spirited note - but don't let it bother you. It is the note writer who has the issues not you (he / she must be an unhappy person). Could have been worse - antisocial behaviour seems to be prevalent these days and I wouldn't have been surprised if your car was scratched sadly ...

Floralnomad · 31/07/2017 20:00

You seriously asked them to check the cctv , what were you planning to do if you could identify who it was ?

Youthinrevolt · 31/07/2017 20:04

What were you going to do with the CCTV? Get Liam Neeson to find the note leaver?

Hope you file a law suit for your anguish OP Grin

Drycleanonly7 · 31/07/2017 20:05

Edmund - he was in the trolley seat when we were shopping. He was sat in his car seat in the car when we arrived at the supermarket.

That's a bit low unnecessary Youthinrevolt

SweetheartTreacleTart · 31/07/2017 20:08

Some people. Just ignore it OP, don't stress about it. You know in your heart you weren't doing anything wrong.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 20:09

Revolt

Revolt by name and revolting by nature it appears.

Dryclean hasn't gone over the top with her remarks - okay, maybe most of us wouldn't have asked to see the CCTV, but so what? Maybe it would have turned out to be someone she knew - a neighbour she'd pee'd off for some reason.

You don't need to be quite so mean.

Drycleanonly7 · 31/07/2017 20:10

Iamyourequal - I was being cheeky with the icing vs cake reference.

OP posts:
EdmundCleverClogs · 31/07/2017 20:10

So, Drycleanonly7, there was a car seat in the car when you were shopping? Very strange that this person noticed you but not your children or an obvious child's seat in your apparently offensive parking. Also, still unsure about what you were hoping would happen with the CCTV? I think the person you're describing is evidently extremely short sighted and not worthy of anyone's energy.
