To be enraged there is no outcry over the scale of violence against women and girls?

Just a handful of the girls and women attacked and in some cases murdered by men unknown to them for no other reason than their sex in the UK in the last few months alone:

Just a small number of those I can remember off hand (which actually made any news) from the last 10 months alone. Then, to compound them all, there was this:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-40763620

Pretty much all of these made only small local news. I just do not understand how people can't see the scale of this and how people can't fear for their daughters.

It's absolutely disgusting and it's getting worse. Sexual assault crimes are in the increase and victim blaming is rife.

What do you propose we do?

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:12

I have no idea, sadly.

OP posts:
AtSea1979 · 30/07/2017 00:13

That's very worrying. I have read all those stories at the time yet failed to notice there has been an increase. Do you have any statistics from police to back this up? I think it would make for a much stronger case. Also interested to see what we can do to help.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:13

I'm just outraged that no-one cares. Every single one of those cases is a woman or girl attacked utterly at random for no reason other than her sex.

OP posts:
KERALA1 · 30/07/2017 00:14

Why I cannot take "men's rights activists" seriously. Where is the widespread sexual attacks by women and girls?!

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:14

Whether it's an increase or not, those are just the ones I could remember off hand last week when I thought about it - there are far more than just those - and those are just the ones which made any kind of news. All women and girls attacked totally at random, by men unknown to them, purely for their sex. How is this not major news?

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:15

What compounded it was the 14 year old girl raped in Birmingham last week, who then, terrified, sought solace and flagged down a car...the driver of which then raped her again.

OP posts:
stella23 · 30/07/2017 00:19

And the comment in the daily mail section about that poor victim were disgusting.

insurmuntable · 30/07/2017 00:19

Sexual assault should be considered a hate crime. I have never understood why it is not.

stitchglitched · 30/07/2017 00:21

It's horrific and it should be a hate crime. I hate the way male violence against women is reported, always as a stand alone incident, never as a wider pattern of behaviour. I read an article earlier about the latest acid attacks and it referenced other previous attacks and pointed out the trend. That is what reports about male violence against women should be doing too. It is an epidemic and should be treated as such.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:21

stella23 not only that but people on Twitter blaming her, especially for the second instance, were sickening.

It should definitely be a hate crime, insurmuntable. The only motivation for these crimes is an utter disdain for women and girls. Violent misogyny.

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:23

He subjected his victim to degrading sexual acts and interrogated her during a “long drawn out psychological game”. He kept asking her “what are we doing” and when his victim replied “you are raping me” he appeared to like hearing the phrase, Bex said.

From one of those horrendous cases. This man had been let out EARLY from a rape beforehand, he is only 27 years old and doing this to a woman. How is that not a hate crime?

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:25

He grabbed her when she was seconds from her front door, forced her in and stripped her at knife point. He made her describe all his acts before threatening to disfigure her and send the images to her mother.

OP posts:
stella23 · 30/07/2017 00:27

I really believe that porn had played a huge role in the increase of sexual assault and how women are viewed as objected to be used and abused.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:28

Quite probably has, in a few of those cases and others I've read of from before this year the men/boys have had violent pornography on their search history.

OP posts:
stella23 · 30/07/2017 00:31

I think it desensitises people and gives them a place to push boundaries without any real consequences to them.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:34

I just don't understand how people don't get enraged about the scale of this. As I said all these women and girls were just walking in public and were subject to this for their sex, no other reason. How this doesn't terrify women, girls and not least mothers is beyond me.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2017 00:39

What compounded it was the 14 year old girl raped in Birmingham last week, who then, terrified, sought solace and flagged down a car...the driver of which then raped her again. This one really got me. A child, a fucking child, tried to get help after a horrific attack...

And I do actually think we should campaign to make crimes against women (because they are women) a hate crime. How do we go about that?

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:42

Absolutely. And I saw a young woman victim blame her on social media, just horrifying. As if the first instance wasn't horrendous enough, she then was subjected to another attack when seeking help. I couldn't even begin to understand what she went through.

I really don't know but it's astounding crimes against women and girls aren't hate crimes when they are utterly grounded in misogyny.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2017 00:46

And I saw a young woman victim blame her on social media, just horrifying. Don't be too quick to blame this young woman. Internalised misogyny is a terrible thing. We swim in a sea of misogyny so it's hard to see. Until your eyes open then it's everywhere.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:51

It is indeed. It's just horrendous. I feel so disheartened by all this. No matter what I do I will only be a female, who can be reduced to this, by any man who chooses to do so.

NoLoveofMine · 30/07/2017 00:57

I wish I had comforting words to say MissBax. It's horrendous.
