Seriously, wtaf is this photo about? She's dressed up like a hawaiian barbie doll, and is holding those poor twins with such an air of detachment, it's actually freaky. I actually think she's gone mad. Sir Carter and Rumi ........... those kids are gonna love those names when they're in school Hmm

Not names I'd have chosen, not a photo setting I'd ever be part of but so what? I hope she and her family are all very happy.

astoundedgoat · 14/07/2017 10:38

I think that it's just a natural follow on from the look of her pregnancy announcement shoot, but more covered up because, well, she just had twins and doesn't want to be torn apart for being "fat". People are already saying that her tummy is photoshopped to appeal flatter, because her belly button is in the wrong place. Poor woman is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't, really.

The names are appalling, but Sir might be intentionally (but, IMO, rather tastelessly, and I'm reaching here a LOT) harkening back to when slaves and ex slaves gave their sons powerful names that rebelled against their status, such as King, Prince and Lord, but also names like Hammer etc. Does she think she is being really meta here, following on from the themes in Lemonade about the experiences of black women? Hmm Given the status that her children actually have in the world, it seems to be missing the point slightly, because they are going to grow a long bloody way away from the position of a boy called King because his mother had nothing else to give him. clutching at straws

SlothMama · 14/07/2017 10:38

Why would you call your child Sir to me it just sounds like a massive ego trip. Rumi isn't so bad but I don't really understand the obsession some people have with Beyonce?

GabsAlot · 14/07/2017 10:39

shes announed the boy a sir carter though why didnt she just say sir

FlandersRocks · 14/07/2017 10:39

Eughh...what a horrible photo with lovely fresh innocent newborns.

She could still have done a shoot but a lovely natural one with lots of white voile and natural light...this is just so tacky.

Lobelia123 · 14/07/2017 10:41

Pretentious, vain and pointless . . .shes starting to believe her own PR and think her while life is 'art'. Disappointing as she was so cool, real and accessible at one point!

BowiesJumper · 14/07/2017 10:42

It's to match the pregnancy shoot though isn't. I think it's gorgeous and hilarious in equal measure. Who knows if she's taking the piss, but, hey, why not? The only beef I have with it is that it so removed from the reality of 1 month post natal. But maybe that's the point! A bit of escapism and fantasy.

BogQueens · 14/07/2017 10:43

As others have said she's carrying on with the same theme she announced her pregnancy in.

Grin Grin

So, sort of Latin-American-style Virgin Mary meets the Garden of Eden via the Great God Photoshop?

chowmeinchick · 14/07/2017 10:43

I really don't get the big hate of all of this? It's pointless.

Yeah, the photo looks a bit weird, but oh well.

BattleaxeGalactica · 14/07/2017 10:45

Is 'Sir' a name now?

David Beckham's mum and dad missed a trick there then. Would have saved that whole PR disaster Grin

NerrSnerr · 14/07/2017 10:48

Life would be dull if we were all the same. It is over the top but why not and if I was Beyoncé I would be photoshopped in every photo I was in.

If she wants eccentric photos then let her get on with it, something about it made me smile.

MrsOverTheRoad · 14/07/2017 10:50

To be fair to her I didn't have a big tummy after my children were born and by the time they were a month I didn't wear sanitary pads either!

I think as long as she's happy and the babies are, then that's fine!

Women get enough shit in the media without people on a website for women (mainly) getting all rude and personal about them.

RebootYourEngine · 14/07/2017 10:51

She is just a media hungry tit. She never used to be but since her daughter was born she has become more and more full of herself.

Its like she is trying to keep up with the kardashians whereas before she didnt need to.

Summerswallow · 14/07/2017 10:52

I don't hate this photo, but presumably as she dressed up in all this stuff and stood there, then released the photo to 'the world' she wants us to comment. I think she'd be upset if no-one noticed!

SleepFreeZone · 14/07/2017 10:52

I like it!

Imbeingunreasonable · 14/07/2017 10:54

Mind you, they'll be going to school with other children with names like Landslide and Windclapper, so they probably won't stand out too much.

Just snorted when I laughed in a packed out room!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Had a cup of tea in my hand too!! Looooooooooool!!!!!

fruitlovingmonkey · 14/07/2017 10:54

I think she's utterly fabulous.
Rumi is an amazing name, Sir is bonkers.

The80sweregreat · 14/07/2017 10:54

She is a beautiful woman, but all these pictures of her are just a bit attention seeking i think - celebs just inhibit a different world to us mere mortals! Plus she probably has more than one nanny to help out with her brood too, she has the time to look fabulous!

MrsJayy · 14/07/2017 10:56

Meh she is a singer this image is no loonier than any other image she does its part of her arty vision of her pregnancy she is doing nobody any harm is she i know old money is classier than that nouveu riche lot but she is happy and not stuffy so silver linning and all that ☺

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/07/2017 10:58

I like Rumi, but Sir, along with Saint, utterly crazy.

ConstanceCraving · 14/07/2017 10:59

I wonder if it's all tongue in cheek? Something tells me not.

Birdsgottaf1y · 14/07/2017 11:00

""She could still have done a shoot but a lovely natural one with lots of white voile and natural light...""

Similar to the ones of the Virgin Mary, or other saints?

All nice and white. Beyonce's two photo shoots have recreated African (and other minority cultures) paintings. Mainly those of Goddesses and Queens. It's artwork that has been 'lost'/forgotten/overlooked because it isn't White/Christian/Catholic.

Apart from her showcasing her 'roots', as such, if you look at how she is trolled online (and in RL) by Racists and White Supremacy groups, then you'd probably understand it more.

As well as flowers always being used in celebrations, so have the colours that she has picked.

likewise there is good reason why, now that there isn't segregation, open lynchings etc and there is a recognition of how wrong Slavery was, that African Americans aren't picking baby names that would get MN approval.

PickingOakum · 14/07/2017 11:00

I have to say I winced when I heard they'd called their kid Rumi. Part of me feels it's not appropriate and cheapens the legacy of Rumi in a way that makes me uncomfortable. I don't hold with cultural appropriation arguments normally, but this feels awfully close to something that devalues a legacy of huge importance to hundreds of thousands of people.

Rumi wasn't just a poet; he's the spiritual head of the Mevlevi Order and a key figure in sufism. People have been persecuted because of their sufi beliefs over the last 100 years. Mevlevis were impoverished after the suppression of their order.

For a pair of American hip hop and R&B artists to use this name when they live such a commercial lifestyle seems disrespectful to me.

I know this is my issue, and it's because of my cultural background, but some things are just a bit sacred and deserve to be kept that way.

darbyshaw · 14/07/2017 11:01

It's a tacky shoot but that's them isn't it? They live in another world and follow their own rules. Rumi is a sweet name. Sir is....interesting.

thethoughtfox · 14/07/2017 11:01

She is a woman whose husband cheated on her and the world now knows cause she told everyone She is now insecure and needs to do this for herself. I kind of get it.
