Slightly OT but some of you may remember the weaselly Trey Gowdy who spent most of the his time in the questioning of Comey et al talking about HER EMAILS rather than anything the Republicans may have done wrong. I was watching Forensic Files on Netflix last night (it's a true crime show where people involved in a case - prosecutors, police, victims, etc - talk about a case where forensic science has helped convict someone) and he popped up as one of the talking heads - this is probably about 10 years ago or so when he was just a prosecutor and not a stooge of the Republican party. (btw if you want to see some showboating then watch the clip of him from the courtroom they show!) Anyway, it was gratifying to see that he seems to have aged about 30 years in the last 10 but also it his ironic final words on the programme (which actually were the final words of the whole show) - which were something along the lines of 'you can't ignore the science because it will get you in the end!'. Made me chuckle to know that just 10 years later he'd align himself with the worse anti-science party of modern times.

I spent some time trying to explain the concept of giving your son your own name & the "junior" bit to my 9 year old last night, who was agog at the whole thing. In desperation, I settled on "with Trump it's because he's big headed and also it's a bit like when dogs pee on lamp posts to claim them - it clearly marks out Donald Trump Jr as 'his.'" This final explanation seemed to satisfy DS. (He was similarly bewildered by the concept of suicide bombers following the Manchester attack - what a world we live in!)

Looks like their 'life philosophy' (which admittedly has served them well up til now) may not be working so well anymore. Perhaps they should look up the definition of the word 'comeuppance'.

Musing over this, my dad would probably throw me under a bus too in the same scenario. Still can't feel much sympathy for Jr. He's the fuckwit who engaged in these shenanigans for someone he knows thinks he's useless.
I'm starting to get really impatient with all this now. We entered the twilight zone a fair few threads ago & I want to see that smug tango'd twat get his comeuppance. Like yesterday.
