Claws I think the article of impeachment that has been filed is dead in the water. They can file and file and file, but as long as the GOP 'owns' the House it'll never pass. And the GOP has a 46 seat majority. Even Dems are distancing themselves at this point because most of them believe there's so little chance for impeachment with the House as it is. I think they're laying low and gathering evidence hoping for 2018 mid-terms to tip the House majority the other way.

It's a nice gesture. But that's all it is.

I've just watched a clip of Trump being interviewed by the 'Christian Broadcasting Network'. This is the only place in media who I presume won't ask him a tricky question and given the credentials of the interviewer, a very good reason why religion and politics should never mix.

Everything is reduced to banal and juvenile. Trump's excuse is "Putin prefers Hillary not me". That's a new one! Pathetic

I think that point has passed illegitimate. The republicans are screwed. Once this is done they will be out for a long, long time. I suspect this is the real reason they are hanging on. When you suddenly realise you are riding the tiger it can seem an easier option to just stay where you are and pray.

I don't know if it was on this thread, but someone mused that the tipping point for the GOP will be when their legislative attempts fail, at which point they have no use for trump and will be quick to abandon him.
