With only 39%ish of the vote how can Sturgeon claim to have a mandate for indyref2 now.

Please no more elections!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 09/06/2017 19:02

YANBU. I fucking hate Sturgeon and Salmond.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:02

The thought of anyone preferring a conservative/DUP alliance is baffling. Well not so much as baffling as fucking scary. The conservatives fought this election on the fact they called JC a terrorist, now they want to jump into bed with the DUP and thats better than the SNP keeping their seats.???

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/06/2017 19:03

As long as you obsesivlu bang on about wonderful independence and Sturgeon are ; or dismiss other people's right to vote for whoever they want as just a protest vote because they didn't vote the way you wanted.

I first voted Labour in 1979. Stuck with them all through Foot and Kinnock. I'm a Labour party member but didn't vote for Corbyn. I've changed my mind about Labour. Policies like renationalisation are idiotic.

forfuckssakenet · 09/06/2017 19:03

Tories are better than SNP?

You're either very rich or very stupid.

Baffling

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/06/2017 19:06

I've repeatedly said that the independence campaign needs to be put on the back burner now as there are far more pressing issues to be sorted out after this shambolic election. I've not said Nicola is wonderful or any other sycophantic shite.

Your attitude towards people who think differently towards you has riled me for a while, silly me, today I reacted and I shouldn't have because usually I tend to ignore people with attitudes like yours, I find myself irritated that I reacted.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:07

but lass, people didnt seem to vote for who they wanted, they voted for who they thought would beat the SNP and thats why we'll have a Con/DUP alliance soon

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/06/2017 19:08

ssd thank you, that's the point I've been trying and failing to make.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/06/2017 19:10

Your attitude towards people who think differently towards you has riled me for a while,

The irony of your saying that is priceless.

I see your name and know it will be another rant about how terrible and evil anyone who isn't hard left/SNP is.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/06/2017 19:12

but lass, people didnt seem to vote for who they wanted, they voted for who they thought would beat the SNP and thats why we'll have a Con/DUP alliance soon

Again that is part of the democratic process. I don't want an SNP mp.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:13

the poster on a billboard where I live said something along the lines of

vote conservative if you want to get rid of her next to a picture of Sturgeon

not vote conservative as we will (insert a manifesto promise), just to get rid of her

and my god their policy worked didn't it, not only have they got rid of the snp in a lot of seats but the won seats in Scotland they weren't certain to win at all.

but they didnt win them promoting their own values, just slating someone elses, seems a cheap way to win a seat

QueenLaBeefah · 09/06/2017 19:15

Maybe next time SNP voters should vote for a proper socialist party (labour) instead of a fake socialist party (snp)?

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:17

agree queen

MorrisZapp · 09/06/2017 19:20

Agree too. Corbyn could have been pm.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:22

very short sighted just to vote to get rid of the snp instead of for the good of the country

still, that is democracy, each to their own god help us

dementedma · 09/06/2017 19:23

I'm pleased to see SNP getting a reality check. Their record on education is woeful.

Kennethwasmyfriend · 09/06/2017 19:26

Have just heard a reporter say the conservatives wouldn't have a majority (even with the DUP) without the Scottish Tory swings.
So cheers guys.

BirdBandit · 09/06/2017 19:34

DUP good and SNP bad? What a crazy world.

I cannot fathom the thought process which views the selection of a religious based, misogynistic, homophobic, creationist and thoroughly corrupt (and that's the stuff they are proud to promote) DUP, as an acceptable solution to avoid the possibility of an Indy vote; after Brexit.

And now we are going into the Brexit negotiations with a team who have no political interest in playing fair when negotiating with UK and Scottish assets. Why piss off the fishing community in Cornwall when there are Scottish waters to trade.

Priorities 'eh.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:35

yeah, cheers Sad

now we'll have the conservatives for 5 years with the DUP backing them up

still, at least 21 snp mp's have lost their seats so that's really worth it...

wonder what Ruth will have to say on the DUP's anti gay stance?

BirdBandit · 09/06/2017 19:35

Ruth isn't happy.

ssd · 09/06/2017 19:37

bloody hope not

QueenLaBeefah · 09/06/2017 19:37

There was a Tory swing because the SNP was so laughably shite. If their MPs had been good at their jobs, listened to their constituents they would have been re-elected. It really isn't a difficult concept, but, as ever with the SNP the sense of victimhood is all pervasive and it must be someone else's fault.

esk1mo · 09/06/2017 19:37

as a Scot I would absolutely rather have my citizens vote for SNP and Labour before Tory.

Only wish the Scottish Labour voters had chosen SNP instead.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/06/2017 19:41

Indyref2 was the time to say no to independance. Not this election. Voting to not have a choice - baffling

What is baffling is why the result of indyref 1 apparently doesn't count.

No, It does count. What is baffling is that most people like you dont seem to acknowledge that things changed after Brexit was given the go ahead. Thats why SNP felt they had a mandate to offer the people a choice. The Tories lied to the UK about Brexit like putting funds towards the NHS. Scotland voted against Brexit. You had the choice to vote no in another referendum. Now you most likely wont have.

DreichAgain · 09/06/2017 19:42

You are most welcome.

Free Advice:

If the irresponsible rush for a indyref2 had not been insisted on by Sturgeon AND Corbyn had been crystal clear that he recognised repetitious recourse to democracy is not a way to run a stable country (Neverendum), then the Conservatives could not have gained any traction!

You are most welcome.
