I've always been really down to earth. Working class roots, shop at Aldi, drive a Kia. I've never ever considered myself better than anyone else ever.

But today it happened. Went into Tesco to grab a loaf and saw my friend at the check out. She had 2 multi packs of pot noodle as part of her shopping.
I inwardly judged.
She's a lovely amazing person. But still this horrid inner snob judged.
I know iabu. I need a proper telling off. I'm a cow.

How I am saying that she's not doing snobbishness properly? I am saying that people shouldn't look down on other people at all.

toomuchtooold · 07/06/2017 18:21

It wasn't directed at you LPWimsey.

NameChanger22 · 07/06/2017 18:25

When I was growing up I was middle class and ate them all the time. Now I'm working class and never eat them.

Explain that.

SherbrookeFosterer · 07/06/2017 18:34

Maybe she was just knackard that day.

I would invite her, her DP if she has one, & her kids over for supper and check she is ok.

Why don't you all go for a nice walk... to the polling station?

Springishere0 · 07/06/2017 18:43

Wrong thread! I apologise!

Scotland32 · 07/06/2017 18:44

I would never have dreamt of buying or eating a pot noodle (and was extremely judgy about them!) until I joined SlimmingWorld and discovered that some types of that kind of thing are free of 'Syns'! So when I'm hungry and desperate to see numbers on the scales drop, I conveniently forget my snobbery! Everything has a back story!

Sallystyle · 07/06/2017 18:46

I have a family member who won't eat certain foods because 'its common' and they want to prove to themselves and everyone around them that they are middle class.

Why does anyone care? I don't get people who judge others by their food choices, (unless they are neglecting their child.) and I certainly don't understand people who are desperate to prove how middle-class they are.

Sallystyle · 07/06/2017 18:58

If someone invited me and my family to dinner to check I'm ok because I bought a pot noodle I don't know whether I would laugh at you or tell you to fuck off.

Good God, can't believe it's being suggested that you have the family over to check everything is ok, because she bought a pot noodle!
Just when you think you've heard it all.

cherrybath · 07/06/2017 19:07

Both my DS loved them when they were teenagers, they were always hungry between meals and pot noodles did the job.
Can't honestly say that I've ever fallen for them though....

wetpebbles · 07/06/2017 19:18

Probably because they are on offer in Tesco atm, 4 for £2, I bought some for a forthcoming camping trip.

ElleMcElle · 07/06/2017 19:19

I haven't had a pot noodle for years, but since being pregnant I've been craving the mushroom one! Resisted so far - but your post has just pushed me over the edge.

BadTasteFlump · 07/06/2017 19:23

Please can we stop all the 'ha ha I'm sooooo middle class' threads.

They're boring.

Yes I could just ignore but I'm feeling moany.

BumWad · 07/06/2017 19:28

I didn't even know you could buy multi packs!!! P

Floggingmolly · 07/06/2017 19:35

Why would you need to check she's ok because she bought a pot noodle? Confused. They must sell millions every year?

I would have judged too. If it was the authentic Japanese/Korean versions of potted dried noodle, then I wouldn't have had an issue with it.

It's not about snobbery it's about health. You might as well have a few spoonfuls of salt - I can't think of a more unhealthy product."

A pot noodle isn't going to affect your health Hmm

Why? It's the same thing

juls1888 · 07/06/2017 19:51

I absolutely loved the chicken and sweet corn pot rice, ate nothing bar them for 6 months and lost 4 stone. I so wish they would bring them back, I've got a good 6 stone to loose!

HopeYourCakeIsShit · 07/06/2017 19:59

You can't necessarily make an assumption about a person's diet from one item though can you?
We all have days when we put something unhealthy in our baskets whether it be sugary or salty.
