To realise I've become a horrible snob.

I've always been really down to earth. Working class roots, shop at Aldi, drive a Kia. I've never ever considered myself better than anyone else ever.

But today it happened. Went into Tesco to grab a loaf and saw my friend at the check out. She had 2 multi packs of pot noodle as part of her shopping.
I inwardly judged.
She's a lovely amazing person. But still this horrid inner snob judged.
I know iabu. I need a proper telling off. I'm a cow.

Aperol YES!!!!
The pot rice! How I miss those, they were lovely.

I also mourn the loss of Batchelors 'savoury rice' 'rices of the world' packet rice, the Indian flavour specifically. It was extremely tasty. I was so upset when they discontinued it that I rang up the company to ask why! (no good answer given sadly!)

LastFirstEverything · 06/06/2017 20:55

BTW, this thread has inspired me to have a pot noodle tomorrow.
I love them, Spicy Curry, or one of the Bombay Bad Boys preferably. But if only Beef and Tomato is available, that's fine (with extra ketchup!). Yum.

And accompanied by white sliced, buttered bread, if really hungry.

thisagain · 06/06/2017 21:06

I buy mugshots for my lunch at work and they're not very different.

poppym12 · 06/06/2017 21:06

I didn't know you could buy multi packs. Best stock up for when I'm next away as my son (18) lived on bombay bad boys for 4 says recently, even though id stocked up the fridge and freezer for him.

seafoodeatit · 06/06/2017 21:22

I'm too cheap and think they're a rip off unless on a half price deal. They're no nicer than cheaper instant noodles imo and the pricier ones feel more exotic and less like the junk that they are!

WeakAndUnstable · 06/06/2017 21:30

OP

DH has just come back from Aldi with 10 bags of Mr Porky's Pork Scratchings. All for me. No messing.

He's just been complaining that people were giving him funny looks. Was it you? Wink

p.s. they're on special offer at just 40p happy days for trash-food fans / low-carb dieters

YoloSwaggins · 06/06/2017 21:32

I always judge people by what's in their trolleys...

Like when you see fat people buying 4 donuts and think "ah that's why"

mumtomaxwell · 06/06/2017 21:38

I really want a Pot Noodle!!!! It's been a while but I do love a beef pot noodle in a sandwich (must be white bread though).

WomblingThree · 06/06/2017 21:43

I very much doubt someone would be fat from buying 4 doughnuts for fucks sake. I'm fat and I buy doughnuts. I don't eat them though because I don't like them

Do you just enjoy being a goady fucker yoloswaggins?

mygorgeousmilo · 06/06/2017 21:45

I kind of get the judgement over other people's trollies.... but I also get a bit ooh lala over a nice combo in someone else's basket, and make a mental note to buy similar next time. As with the last thread about fish fingers, surely everything in moderation, and/or it's nobody's business as there are many combinations of reasons someone may be eating a particular thing, or have put it in their basket - kind of who cares?! They may even just, dare I say the evil words... 'enjoy' it? If they were Bombay Bad Boys then YABVU for judging - they are the speedy food of the gods!

TroysMammy · 06/06/2017 21:48

A nurse in work eats them. I've told her how can she look patients in the eye when giving dietary advice. She says quite easily.

When I've eaten a PN in the distant past I found they would make my nose run. No problem, just stir it up and continue eating Grin.

AntiopeofThemyscira · 06/06/2017 21:48

Chow mein was the best flavour, but it was hard to find even back when I used to eat them regularly. I don't think they even make that flavour anymore 😥

I take some comfort from the ever extending flavour range of Fray Bentos though. Everyone slags those pies off but why are they making more and more different flavours if no one is eating them? Huh?

OnlyOneOfThose · 06/06/2017 21:54

I've never had a pot noodle (or a kebab)

squoosh · 06/06/2017 22:11

I've had a nice chicken kebab but I've never had that sliced kebab meat. I'll never be drunk enough for it to look appealing.

IWantABlueBanana · 06/06/2017 22:17

Ooh not had a pot noodle in years, the sauce just isn't the same as it was 20 year ago though am definitely buying one or several tomorrow now.

My cupboard has several bachelors microwave pasta for when I once in a blue moon fancy lunch.

And no, I don't share my malteaser share bags, I eat those fuckers all to myself. And no, im not an unhealthy greedy cunt, sometimes I just like to be airy fairy.

expatinscotland · 06/06/2017 22:44

'A nurse in work eats them. I've told her how can she look patients in the eye when giving dietary advice. She says quite easily.'

Because they are just noodles with what is essentially a stock cube or seasoning.

DangerousBeanz · 06/06/2017 22:45

I'm not hankering for one, I'm coeliac so I can't eat them they make me really poorly. It's rice noodles only for me.

I can't even eat the Biscuit.
Or the Fray Bentos pie or the Maltesers either.....

RagingCunt · 06/06/2017 23:24

Ooh I used to love a chicken n mushroom PN when I was a student.

Mind, in those days, I used to think that a Vesta curry was the height of cosmopolitan cuisine.

Sophisticated, me.

grumpysquash3 · 06/06/2017 23:29

I know the post is really about Pot Noodle, but

what's wrong with a Kia?

grumpysquash3 · 06/06/2017 23:30

Just to add, I have a Kia Sedona and I don't shop in Aldi.

RagingCunt · 06/06/2017 23:31

Just discussed this thread with my DH. He claims to have fond memories of making Pot Noodle sandwiches when he was a student.

He liked the beef and tomato one.

Our DS is very fond of Super Noodles.

DD not so much - but she does love a Fray Bentos pie-in-a-tin. Especially with tinned potatoes.

Lonelymummyof1 · 06/06/2017 23:33

I love a pot noodle and I live chelsea 😂

Lonelymummyof1 · 06/06/2017 23:34

Oh frey bentos meatballs in gravy are another fav !

user1495915742 · 06/06/2017 23:36

I like a pot noodle occasionally. Does it make any difference that I do my shopping in Waitrose? Confused

CatThiefKeith · 06/06/2017 23:41

I buy multipacks of pot noodles to take away in my VW camper and also if we are spending a few days on the boat.

Technically I could cook a proper meal in either but who wants their sleeping space stinking of food?

I am as rough as a badgers arse though, in all fairness....
