I've always been really down to earth. Working class roots, shop at Aldi, drive a Kia. I've never ever considered myself better than anyone else ever.

But today it happened. Went into Tesco to grab a loaf and saw my friend at the check out. She had 2 multi packs of pot noodle as part of her shopping.
I inwardly judged.
She's a lovely amazing person. But still this horrid inner snob judged.
I know iabu. I need a proper telling off. I'm a cow.

Nothing wrong with a pot noodle now and again, the beef and tomato one is my guilty pleasure when I'm home alone and truly can't be arsed cooking.

ssd · 06/06/2017 19:13

2 multi packs? maybe she was going camping?

QuiteLikely5 · 06/06/2017 19:13

snobby? You can't buy class though........

jarhead123 · 06/06/2017 19:14

I buy them for my husband. I'd never eat one though. Perhaps she is the same?

Instasista · 06/06/2017 19:15

I don't really understand why pot noodles made you feel superior. All sorts of people eat pot noodles-from what you've said of your back ground most of them will be posher than you 😭

scurryfunge · 06/06/2017 19:15

Beef and tomato is proper working class. Chicken and mushroom is acceptable.

TheScottishPlay · 06/06/2017 19:16

I buy them as Vegan junk food.

TryHarderWillis · 06/06/2017 19:16

I really don't get this.

missiondecision · 06/06/2017 19:16

You can't "eat" class.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 06/06/2017 19:16

I feed my kids pot noodles. They love them

x2boys · 06/06/2017 19:16

i sent ds1 out to the corner shop yesterday to buy us both one he had chicken and mushroom i had curry

billabye · 06/06/2017 19:16

Maybe she has a night out coming up and she's planning for the hangover Grin

Laiste · 06/06/2017 19:17

I inwardly judged

What did you judge though exactly? What was your thought process?

Was she buying the mutipack while gleefully shouting 'there kids - no cooking for me for the next week'?

Or just the very fact she'd bought them at all?

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 06/06/2017 19:17

Chicken and mushroom is beyond skanky, it's all about the Bombay bad boy, sweet and sour is number two.

TotallyConkers · 06/06/2017 19:18

Hmmm beef pot noodle with a side helping of buttered white bread. Sends me back to my student days Grin

Highalert · 06/06/2017 19:18

Is this for real?

This place has really gone to the dogs.

TrinityTaylor · 06/06/2017 19:18

What is this obsession with food being linked to class. It's an epidemic on here.

Maybe she is on medication or pregnant and she can't face other food. Maybe they're a treat for a teen or to take camping. I was on tablets for a while that made me really nauseous. If I hadn't drank full sugar coke and eaten McDonalds chips almost exclusively I would have fainted regularly.

Redsippycup · 06/06/2017 19:19

I often buy them for DP. He is a builder and often has no way to make hot food in winter. A flask is all he needs for a pot noodle. Those porridge pots are good too.

SaucyJack · 06/06/2017 19:19

Your unreasonability depends on whether they were Bombay Bad Boys or not.

sonlypuppyfat · 06/06/2017 19:19

My kids take them to school, so there😜

CiliatedEpithelium · 06/06/2017 19:19

If I'm away from home I will have a can of lager and a curry PN rather than go out to eat. Apart from a cheap date, WTF does that make me? I have never considered it from this point of view before I always recycle the pot

Ceebeegee · 06/06/2017 19:21

No one is too posh for a pot noodle :D

Y'never know , they could be for a food bank or something? Would that make it less judgmental if they were buying them for charity ?

AlphaOmicronPi · 06/06/2017 19:21

I went out with someone once who was an ex public schoolboy. His parents had an actual country estate. He bloody loved a pot noodle.

icantfindagoodname · 06/06/2017 19:21

I buy 2 multi packs of bombay badboys a week....

DangerousBeanz · 06/06/2017 19:23

It was a wtf are you doing feeding your kids that crap sort of judging.

She's not going camping.
4x chicken and mushroom
4x curry.

I said nothing to her. She's lovely.
