I've always been really down to earth. Working class roots, shop at Aldi, drive a Kia. I've never ever considered myself better than anyone else ever.

But today it happened. Went into Tesco to grab a loaf and saw my friend at the check out. She had 2 multi packs of pot noodle as part of her shopping.
I inwardly judged.
She's a lovely amazing person. But still this horrid inner snob judged.
I know iabu. I need a proper telling off. I'm a cow.

Lol at that. Pot noodles for my VW camper and the yacht (but I buy mine in Poundland) 😂😂😂

BuzzKillington · 07/06/2017 00:01

Judge not.

You may have seen me today in Tesco buying Pot Noodles, Mug Shots, Pasta n Sauces, instant porridge and several biscuit bars. Not one fresh item in my basket of shite. All things I would have a conniption over normally.

But it's all for my ds who has his DofE expedition this weekend.

Chickenagain · 07/06/2017 00:19

There is a couple of Frey Bentos pie on the boat too - kept for dire emergencies...

Lookforthelight · 07/06/2017 00:42

I've never had a pot noodle ever. Just because they look gross.

I could eat a pack of Super Noodles every single day though Grin

Biscuitybase · 07/06/2017 01:14

Does nobody remember Pot Sweets? They existed for about 10 minutes in the late 1980s. My favourite was the apple crumble one. Dried appley stuff that you poured boiling water onto, with a sachet of delicious, synthetic crumble stuff for the topping. They were absolutely fucking scrumptious and I still think about them every day.

People judging others on combinations of stuff they are buying makes me think of this comic:

KoalaDownUnder · 07/06/2017 05:48

I bloody love IndoMie. I don't buy them, though, as the ingredients list is vile.

I draw the line at Pot Noodles, but certainly don't judge anyone who doesn't.

silentpool · 07/06/2017 05:59

I am about to cook up a pan of fresh udon noodles. Judge away, but it will include a veritable rainbow of vegetables too. Just because it's convenient, doesn't make it bad.

MsHopey · 07/06/2017 06:01

I love a chicken and mushrooms pot noodle, no soy sauce but I add vinegar. I kept saying I wanted one do DH brought me 24 when they were on offer. Slowly making my way through them, I wonder what people though of his basket!? I am pregnant though, not really an excuse because I loved them before I was as well.

Shockers · 07/06/2017 06:25

What's a 'prepper' ?

maddiemookins16mum · 07/06/2017 06:28

I buy those packs of square instant noodles (the supermarket own version, not the basic but the 35p ones). I use them probably weekly along with stir fries or my much loved cheap and cheerful Chinese 5 spice chicken thighs. Is that as bad? I don't add the sachets of 'flavouring" though, too salty.

KoalaDownUnder · 07/06/2017 06:28

Shockers - someone who 'prepares' for fire/flood/zombie apocalypse by stockpiling food, water, medical supplies etc.

BoomBoomsCousin · 07/06/2017 06:32

Sweet and sour pot noodles are my secret indulgence. Would be horrified if anyone I knew saw me buying them though, so I accept your judgement Grin

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/06/2017 06:39

My friend had one in her cupboard and I got it out lovingly. The soy content gave me shivers as soy makes me ill. I'm also gluten intolerant. Not for md unfortunately.

contrary13 · 07/06/2017 08:49

Does she have a pre-teen/teen son? Because my pre-teen son can and does devour Pot Noodles like they're going out of fashion!

Even if she doesn't have a locust masquerading as a boy, though, who are you to judge her shopping?! As another poster said, what is it with the food items being linked to class?! I buy Irish Fruit Loaf, rather than Fruited Bread... they're the same item, but my locust will only eat the former and not the latter (I don't know why... I find it wearisome to decipher his grunts first thing in a morning when I'm trying to cram some breakfast into him before school). The former, according to this, would make me middle-class, whilst the latter would make me working-class.

We're all people at the end of the day. There should be no class system in place at all. I have a friend whose an Earl... and friends who are on benefits. I don't view them any differently - because they're people.

And Pot Noodles were a luxury item when I was a kid. Especially the beef-and-tomato one (which is the only one DS and I'll eat... DD prefers the chicken-and-mushroom one, but... bleurgh!). So, given that little piece of knowledge, surely buying two multipacks of them makes your friend upper-class...?

And yes, OP, you are a snob.

Leatherboundanddown · 07/06/2017 09:21

I'm currently renovating a property and there is no kitchen yet. Pretty much exclusively surviving on pot noodles, sandwich meal deals and chips.

ItsNachoCheese · 07/06/2017 09:30

Im going to tescos to get a couple of multipacks of pot noodles if they are £2. Chicken and mushroom ones are good

mygorgeousmilo · 07/06/2017 09:37

Leather this was us! We started off all well and good, using just a microwave on the floor for things like Cook meals and m&s dinners.... cost a fortune so a few weeks in and we moved on to pot noodles and sandwiches - and never looked back! Grin

aintnothinbutagstring · 07/06/2017 09:47

I would judge too, sorry, it has to be supernoodles. And yes, nothing classy about being snobby, very low class actually to care about such trivia.

Notso · 07/06/2017 13:38

I've never tried a pot noodle. I tried a pot rice once but it was grim.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 07/06/2017 14:02

Kingsmill Grin

LPWimsey · 07/06/2017 17:52

I went to public school and I can't see anything wrong with a pot noodle. I can on the other hand see something very wrong with someone judging a nice, kind friend because they're buying instant noodles......

toomuchtooold · 07/06/2017 17:57

This thread appears to be full of posh people telling the P she's not doing snobbishness properly. WTAF.

HopeYourCakeIsShit · 07/06/2017 18:04

I've never had a Pot Noodle, but I do have a recollection of Biscuitybase's crumble thing.
OP Kingsmill really, that's not bread Grin
