To hate this heatwave

Mammylamb · 26/05/2017 13:08

I don't know why, but ever since I was a kid I hate the hot weather; it has always made me feel, well, ugly and inferior!!! I was always a wee bit on the big side (never massive, although I'm a size 16 just now!). Does anyone hate the heat?

OP posts:
CherryMintVanilla · 26/05/2017 23:00

Cherry- LA is a world away from a tropical developing country.

True.

Ollivander84 · 26/05/2017 23:11

30c + 4 antihistamines and I have these hives all over. I reserve the right to whine!

To hate this heatwave
fullofhope03 · 27/05/2017 00:01

TOTALLY with you OP! My heart sinks when I hear a weather person trilling, "It's going to be a lovely hot and balmy day tomorrow" etc etc
i get so hot and bothered and the thought of getting my pins out is so depressing!

Fleshy · 27/05/2017 00:08

Yes, we know that you all love the heat and want to 'make the most of it', most of the population do, let the ones who suffer in it and hate every second whine about it in peace.
If you don't have panic attacks, itchy rashes, insomnia, excess sweat, dizziness, nausea, fainting, hay fever, sensitive eyes and skin, blood pressure issues etc, cool story, bro. You're in the majority. Some of us are dreading the next four months and you don't get to shame us for it.

toffee1000 · 27/05/2017 01:00

Next four months?? Err hello, this is Britain we're talking about, it's hardly going to be this hot for four months solid.

SomeOtherFuckers · 27/05/2017 01:03

I'm slim and so could wear small clothes according to "the rules" but I also feel insecure in them and I hate the heatwave anyway because I feel sweaty and ill and exhausted from the heat .
I do not like it .

Darbs76 · 27/05/2017 01:18

Don't worry soon be raining again. I love the sunshine, makes me feel much happier - but alas this is the UK, it doesn't last much longer than the moaning

caffeinestream · 27/05/2017 07:44

Oh come on - it won't last that long! It's already dropped ten degrees here today and we're forecast storms and flash floods - hardly a four-month heatwave!

grungeneverdied · 27/05/2017 07:59

Hate the muggy heat ergh

SunLoather · 27/05/2017 08:12

No, four months is about right. If you have the reactions Fleshy is mentioning then you tend to get obsessive used to the way that heatwaves come and go until about late October these days. Other people just focus on the cooler days instead I guess.

I really don't understand the reactions I always see here, can anyone logically explain them?

If someone started a thread saying "hayfever's the worst, this time of year makes me feel so ill" people wouldn't jump around saying "oh no I LOVE pollen - and fuck you for complaining about it, it's not all year". They might suggest solutions like antihistamines but there wouldn't be the anger and eye-rolling.

Meanwhile some people get sick in the heat so they dread it and avoid it. Others get really indignant about this rather than just thinking "well that sucks for you" and tell them off.

Why?

engineersthumb · 27/05/2017 08:14

What heatwave?
It's been a bit sunny for two days!

SunLoather · 27/05/2017 08:20

Is there an eye roll emoticon?

Blodplod · 27/05/2017 08:24

I hate the heat too! I just can't handle it like I could when I was younger.. today already especially difficult. I've got breathing difficulties due to a chest infection and have steroids, antibiotics and an inhaler. Hoping they'll kick in soon but this muggy heat today is really not helping... Sad

MuvaWifey77 · 27/05/2017 08:36

One can't be unreasonable for simply disliking something OP. It's your oppinion. I am now pregnant ( 4 months to go ) 5 kg heavier ... I'm normally 49-50 , now 55kg , 7st 12 lbs before and almost 9 now...
it is frustrating , I have a pelvic injury from a plane crash and it's awful, but there's nothing that makes me happier than sitting outside and sunbathing topless , I hate wearing clothes, the sun makes me really happy because I often miss Brasil and Europe can be depressing at times. Assuming you were born here is little odd to me OP that you wouldn't like the heat, it's not like we have much of it ... odd but not unreasonable.

and experiencing

MuvaWifey77 · 27/05/2017 08:37

Ignore that bit in the end , !no idea what that is lol

Falconhoof1 · 27/05/2017 08:45

I love the sun and being warm but the nights are horrendous! Can't cool my bedroom down and wake up feeling hot and tired! Didn't help that I have an attic bedroom with velux windows.

usershitloadofnumbers · 27/05/2017 08:54

heatwaves come and go until about late October these days

I wish! I am South East, and it really is not that hot! Last year we did have maybe 4 days of really hot weather? I completely understand that some people dislike the heat, but I've rarely experienced it in this country. Until I can kick my duvet out and sleep with the windows open at night, I don't find it so hot.

It's much more unhealthy to live in a grey place, where it's damp cold and mouldy. 23 to 24 degrees indoors is really not that hot, is it?

Branleuse · 27/05/2017 08:58

after 8 months of winter,i cant believe people really begrudge a few days of it being warm

Delatron · 27/05/2017 09:10

Love it!

Fortunately for those who hate a few sunny days have about 8 months of cold, dreary weather. It's not even been that hot...

Elendon · 27/05/2017 10:17

Actually, I apologise for saying YWBVU OP. My son struggles in this heat and he is tall and thin. He told me he had a cold shower before bed last night (I flaked out at 9.30). He actually felt a lot better. The heat builds up to the top of the house here and despite having windows open and sleeping nekkid, I was very hot and sweaty last night.

Today is still hot! I'm off out into the garden to enjoy it whilst it lasts.

SunLoather · 27/05/2017 10:37

It's not begrudging. It's not even really hating. It's suffering. Is that so difficult to understand? (Honest question as no one's answered the one above yet).

And I don't think there's been a single day where I've really "enjoyed" the weather over the past eight months. It may have been bearable temperature-wise and not made me sick, which is lovely, but equally there have been no heavy rain days or snow (which are my version of "summer" in terms of relishing and enjoying them). But when people have whinged about those in the past I haven't snapped at them because of it, I just accept they're different. Why can't you?

Yes I'm over invested, heat makes me really really cross for some reason

usershitloadofnumbers · 27/05/2017 11:18

I accept that people dislike the heat, just didn't think it was hot the last few days. My house stays at 20 degrees in the winter, it was a maximum of 23 inside here yesterday, so it didn't feel that hot at all. (I do know that 20 degrees in the winter is not the same as 20 degrees in the summer, but still).

If you are really suffering, you can have air con in your home, that would help?

Talith · 27/05/2017 11:22

Grin FFS! It's only one day of scorching heat! We are back to grey skies and cooler temps already here.

Dowser · 27/05/2017 11:37

Yabu.

Winter is just so miserable and goes on too long in this country.

It costs me a lot in wintertime to get my sunshine fixes from October to March, so when there's free sun around I just bask in it and it costs nothing to heat the house.

Fabulous.

fanfrickintastic · 27/05/2017 11:39

YABU. I hate being fat, and I hate having to work in a stupid office with no air con and radiators which are permenantly on. But I do like the warmth and the sunshine!
