To ask if you think Jeremy Corbin will stand down after GE?

Sorry, I know there are so many threads about the GE/politics.

I am just wondering what will happen after the GE. I am a Labour supporter and will vote Labour but I think it is highly likely Labour will come out very badly.

Will Jererny resign? Will there be a split? Are we really going to have Tory gov't again???

Anyone have any insights to give me hope?

Make re: "Look, speaking about the compromise mentioned above, we agree on so much. There is a vehicle for democratic change within the party. We are not talking about trying to change the minds of millions."

If you are trying to get elected into power then you absolutely are trying to change the minds of millions.....

Guido Fawkes reckons there are reforms planned for The Annual conference by Momentum Etc

Yes, I've read the same thing from a number of sources ... it's the reason I believe he'll hang on until the party conference in an attempt to stitch up a complete hard left takeover

Which, sadly, would certainly be the end of Labour as an electable party Sad

No fucking honour. What a surprise!

HildaOg · 09/05/2017 10:40

He'll never stand down. Ever.

JC - I think he thinks he is Jesus Christ with Diane Abbot as one of his disciples. I can't get to a place where I can vote for the Labor party. We need a leader who can neigotiate our way out of the EU. He is not the person for that job. Given the choices I think TM is the best candidate for leader. In my local area the Labour MP is not a fan of JC but he is a fabulous MP. I'm very torn.

Oh and it would make sense for me to vote Tories but I don't agree with their domestic policies.

ShatnersWig · 09/05/2017 13:13

I'm no Corbyn fan but of course he isn't going to say "if I don't win, I'll resign". No leader would say that. And many leaders of parties haven't resigned after losing a general election, that's a fairly recent thing. Kinnock didn't go after losing his first election.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/05/2017 13:14

I've said this before and will say it again ... I'm genuinely beginning to wonder about his mental state Hmm

Radishal · 09/05/2017 13:15

Nobody is asking TM (correct me if I am wrong) because the likelihood of the Tories losing - even if 30 of them go to jail for electoral misconduct- is pretty slim.

ShatnersWig · 09/05/2017 14:08

Rad You're right. It's not "media bias" as Corbyn supporters would claim. No sensible journalist would ever ask a sitting leader with poll ratings as they are if they would resign if they lose. The reason Corbyn is asked is because
a) the local elections were a disaster
b) he's already faced one leadership challenge in his time
c) the polls show an enormous gap between the parties

Now, polls can be wrong of course, but....

This is in Wales. But if you want to kid yourself it is across the uk, that's fine. Ever heard of the dead cat bounce, by the way.

I'm joking that the cherry picked example that Momentum has chosen to use still demonstrates they are losing, the fact that this is from Wales makes it even more amusing.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 14:40

Nice joke, btw.
