To ask how many sausages for an adult portion

Went to MILs for dinner today. She's done a sausage and bean casserole :P We got one sausage each. When SIL asked if we were on rations MIL pointed out that beans were protein too.... I do 2-3 sausages for an adult depending on size and meat content. How many do you do?

Three per person, maybe two in a casserole situation as it'd be bulked out by other ingredients.

RoganJosh · 29/04/2017 22:15

Three fat ones here. I think the pack of six is 450g.

MuchasSmoochas · 29/04/2017 22:16

2 but sometimes have a cheeky 3. 1!!! That's not right.

VerySadInside · 29/04/2017 22:16

2 normal or 1 if they are the butchers massive ones. We only buy very high meat content sausages, I know the cheaper ones are less filling.

Also chipolatas would be 4-5.

donkey86 · 29/04/2017 22:17

Two or three - more often three though I do sometimes think that's a bit much and that it should be two really.

FunkinEll · 29/04/2017 22:17

If it's a pack of 6 between H and I, he has 3.5 and I have 2.5. I could manage 3 if I needed to though.

I'd be sad with just one.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/04/2017 22:18

1 each for kids.

Scabetty · 29/04/2017 22:18

I live amongst gluttons so have perspective but 1 seems mean.

EnidButton · 29/04/2017 22:19
I'd feel short changed with 2 and 1 is just taking the piss.

We had sausage, mash and veg tonight and had 3 each. They were the 97% pork ones.

OvO · 29/04/2017 22:19

1 sausage would be for a small child!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 29/04/2017 22:20

2-3.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 29/04/2017 22:20

2 or 3 depending on what we have it with, but I've found that 8 sausages do 5 portions of sausage casserole and it seems like you have 2 sausages minimum per portion Confused I chop them up and then there are a tin of some type of beans (varied depending on what we have and what I fancy, sometimes 2x one type and sometimes 2 different) chopped onion, peas and sweetcorn

ifyoulikepinacolada · 29/04/2017 22:20
  1. 1 is just stingy!
madamginger · 29/04/2017 22:20

I would have 2 and DH would have 3, the dc would have 1 each (except Ds1, who's 8 and has hollow legs, he'd have 2)

NoCapes · 29/04/2017 22:23

1!?! My 17 month old has 1 sausage!

3 for adults, although not sure in a casserole situation, probably 2 depending what it's being served with
Never 1 though, never one Shock

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/04/2017 22:24

3-4 depending on the rest of the meal.

greathat · 29/04/2017 22:25

Glad I'm not alone in feeling it was rather tight. I didn't like the green mushy beanyness either. If you invite folks for dinner, make it something nice :P

Xmasbaby11 · 29/04/2017 22:25

2 or 3. Even my 5 yo would eat 2 (if allowed)!

wifeyhun · 29/04/2017 22:26

Three for DH. I usually have two.

AdaColeman · 29/04/2017 22:26

I'd usually have two as a portion, one seems a bit mean.

Perhaps MIL was saving some for a hot sausage sandwich to have as a treat after you had all gone home! Grin Grin

Okite · 29/04/2017 22:27

I've never eaten a sausage as an adult but I'd probably do two for others to eat. My DH has two (veggie) ones when he has sausages so I'd base it on that

WorraLiberty · 29/04/2017 22:28

I don't like sausage casserole but when I make sausage and mash, DH and I have 2 and a half each.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but we both decided 2 wasn't quite enough and 3 was too much Grin

OverAndAbove · 29/04/2017 22:28

Four chipolatas, or two normal ones. The DDs have the same (they are big eaters though, compared to their friends of the same age)

Crunchymum · 29/04/2017 22:29

Depends on if they areally juicy fat sausages or Richmonds (don't judge me!!)

The latter you need 4 for an adult.... at least Shock

Smellbellina · 29/04/2017 22:30

In a casserole I'd have 1.5 but for other adults I"d allow 2-3
