To ask how many sausages for an adult portion

Went to MILs for dinner today. She's done a sausage and bean casserole :P We got one sausage each. When SIL asked if we were on rations MIL pointed out that beans were protein too.... I do 2-3 sausages for an adult depending on size and meat content. How many do you do?

I of course mean x4 Richmond thin sausages. Never actually had the bigger ones!!

Vroomster · 29/04/2017 22:31

My toddler gets 1 sausage! The 5 year old can eat 2 sometimes. Adults get 2-3.

Sparrowlegs248 · 29/04/2017 22:31

3 for an adult. Ds is 22 months old and puts one away with no problems Nd often begs for mine!

VerySadInside · 29/04/2017 22:35

Gosh, I'm suprised how many of you would eat 3 sausages as standard! I'd feel like a right porker if I did that Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 29/04/2017 22:35

I'd probably do 1.5 or 2, just because it's tastier to have plenty of meat. But your MIL's right that the beans are protein and you don't really need more.

(That said, being stingy with guests isn't attractive - surely everyone makes generous portions for visitors?)

NataliaOsipova · 29/04/2017 22:35

DH and I would eat a packet between us, probably two for me and four for him, as sausages aren't my favourite. One is ridiculous.

PigletJohn · 29/04/2017 22:35

2 or 3

the low fat ones tend to have more meat.

Richmond are very poor, despite their heavy advertising which suggests they are going to be good.

Jux · 29/04/2017 22:36

We usually have 3 fat butcher's sausages each. We also have 3 each when we have chipolatas. If they don't all get eaten then they're used cold the next day - nothing like a sausage and egg sandwich in the morning! Loads of brown sauce.... ooh, I haven't eaten properly for days and I'm bloody hungry. I have to stop thinking of food.....

MusicToMyEars800 · 29/04/2017 22:40

3 in this household kids get 2, sometimes me and OH will have 4 depends on what is going with it.

clumsyduck · 29/04/2017 22:41

tellme
So I can sleep tonight .. 😂 You need to explain .. 8 sausages in a casserole that does 5 portions and each gets 2 sausages minimum ...
How ?!?!? Grin

Also . 1 sausage is a joke . 2-3 minimum

sausagedogrolls · 29/04/2017 22:42

Two or three

One is stingy. This sounds similar to the MIL who only did two roast potatoes, one slice of beef, two broccoli florets, seven carrot slices.... Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/04/2017 22:43

That was the canopes sorted sausage

What was for dinner Grin

Lanaorana2 · 29/04/2017 22:44

3 plus 1 for the cat.

Janeinthemiddle · 29/04/2017 22:44

For dinner? I would say 1 is enough

kel1493 · 29/04/2017 22:45

2 or 3, depending if they are thick or thin. God my 20 month old can eat 2..

Zafodbeeblbrox10 · 29/04/2017 22:45

Six

cornflakegirl · 29/04/2017 22:46

2 for sausage and mash or similar. But we use 3 sausages between 4 in sausage casserole - we chop them up. Fill up on beans and veg.

BackforGood · 29/04/2017 22:46

Sausage and mash would be 2 or 3, but in a casserole I'd use fewer. She is right, the beans are likely to be full of protein. I guess it depends what else it were bulked out with.

NapQueen · 29/04/2017 22:48

I make Jamie Olivers sausage bake alot and do 3 sausages each. Usually the pork and caramelised onion ones from tesco. If I get the chipolata style ones then 4/5 each.

LornaD40 · 29/04/2017 22:49

2 or 3. (I buy the Tesco finest caramelised onion ones. In fact, I think I am addicted.)

sausagedogrolls · 29/04/2017 22:51

I should also add that I would two or three for me and DH but would probably do four for everyone else as most people I know eat far more than we do.

DieSchottin93 · 29/04/2017 22:52

4-5 but only because my DB never eats his share (hates sausages apparently Hmm ) and my mum makes a bloody delicious sausage casserole Grin Grin

irregularegular · 29/04/2017 22:54

2 definitely.

Surprised how many have 3. Perhaps this explains why it is so hard to buy packs of 8 now. It's all 6s recently. So annoying for a family of 4.

irregularegular · 29/04/2017 22:57

In a sausage and bean casserole, if I cut the sausages into chunks 1.5 would be fine.

harderandharder2breathe · 29/04/2017 23:10

Generally 2, maybe 3

It's true that you need fewer in a casserole but I chop them up so it's not so obvious and serve it with nice crusty bread
