AIBU to think that some people just don't get it? It's been given some rubbish reviews in the press but it is bloody brilliant! Grin Grin Grin
Do you have to be in your 40"s & from up North to understand the jokes, radio adverts, music, relationships?

Peter Kaye is extremely knowledgable about music, (mastermind 'specialist subject' type) , so I'm not surprised that the song choices are spot on.

Oblomov17 · 15/04/2017 20:51

Maud, I too have fancied PK for donkeys years.

squoosh · 15/04/2017 20:53

I've never heard of anyone fancying PK before! I do think he has this very sweet, glow about him and an adorable smile when he's alone in the car after dropping Kayleigh off. I think REO Speedwagon's I Can't Fight This Feeling was playing Grin

Maudlinmaud · 15/04/2017 20:54

Oblomov he has a really cute face when he smiles, those cheeks. A mambo Easter Grin

Tableforjuan · 15/04/2017 22:48

Had some concerns about S2 diverging from the commute set-up (bus, work party, Wigan trip) but ended up loving it even more than S1.

Not from North West but my DP was and the bits where Kayleigh tries to make him have 'the talk' definitely ring true!

squoosh · 15/04/2017 23:12

I've just watched the four episodes. I wanted to give John a bloody shake. They're definitely building up to a Crimbo special.

I don't think humour (or people!) varies that much up and down the UK so you definitely don't need to be from there to get it. It's pretty universal stuff isn't it?

ShowMePotatoSalad · 16/04/2017 19:54

Gearing up nicely for a final installment I reckon. I know it's been a bit panned but do you know what - it's right up my street. Always felt an affinity with Peter Kay's comedy in the same way I have with The Royle Family - it's the Northern aspect to it. It's like a big comforting hug!

Also can't stop listening to that Billy Ocean song now. Absolutely brill.

clarab3 · 16/04/2017 19:57

From South and LOVE it!

Olddear · 16/04/2017 20:02

I love it! I definitely don't fancy PK either. I always think he looks like a giant toddler.

marybastardpoppins · 17/04/2017 10:32

Just brilliant - sharp and funny and warm and outrageous and poignant. Love the phone saying 'quidditch', Pearce Quigley as the gopro-ing cyclist, and Elsie and her inflatable trophyGrin

StoorieHoose · 17/04/2017 10:44

Loved it! Sian was in an episode of Phoenix Nights as Holy Mary's daughter than Paddy tries to get out with. She is fantastic

Tunnocksmallow · 17/04/2017 17:10

I've had Kayleigh by Marillion stuck in my head for days now.....

The80sweregreat · 18/04/2017 08:22

Tunnock, me too, it is a catchy number/ Fish was on pointless celebritites last year.
I wonder if thats why he called her character Kayliegh?

Tunnocksmallow · 18/04/2017 23:11

I wondered that too, if it was a set up from the start just for that song!

Loving the Car Share playlist on Spotify. Been on repeat.

MrsJayy · 18/04/2017 23:37

Oh god I laughed so much tonight at Elsie the drunk smutf i went a bit hysterical at one point Grin

MrsJayy · 18/04/2017 23:37

Smurf obviously

MrsJayy · 18/04/2017 23:40

Sian was also in 2 up 2 down group on the pop idol dancing on ice thingy they were in the final with geraldine 😀

The80sweregreat · 19/04/2017 07:06

i watched with sub titles as dh hasnt seen this one. was easier to understand and i did get the jokes a bit more too.
I think Elsie was a woman with a gravelly man's voice.
Not that i am saying anything of course..

so funny when Kayleigh fell back in her seat.

i didnt know that Sian was one of 2 up 2 down !

Crispsheets · 19/04/2017 07:09

The singing along to Minnie Ripperton.Grin
You knew what was going to happen
I think it's brilliant.

MrsJayy · 19/04/2017 09:26

Elsie is in game of thrones dd spotted him i don't watch it

DurhamDurham · 19/04/2017 09:33

I just don't get it

I usually like PK but haven't laughed at Car Share, I'm in my 40's and live in the North too, I was hoping I would like it but it's just not for me.

leccybill · 19/04/2017 09:45

Who has panned it?

Maybe in the media, it's just not cool to enjoy a bit of gentle Northern 80s nostalgia but in real life, almost everyone I know loves it. How can you not, it's so endearing.

Olddear · 19/04/2017 10:59

I've really enjoyed it....in saying that, I thought first series really had the edge...

Ifailed · 19/04/2017 11:13

DurhamDurham
Agree with you, I've tried to watch it, but just get bored - most of each episode is so badly telegraphed that I've found myself fast-forwarding on iPlayer to get them over.

Still, wouldn't life be boring if we all liked the same thing?

CashelGirl · 19/04/2017 12:44

The actor that played Elsie is Conleth Hill - Varys from Game of Thrones! He was excellent.
