AIBU to think that some people just don't get it? It's been given some rubbish reviews in the press but it is bloody brilliant! Grin Grin Grin
Do you have to be in your 40"s & from up North to understand the jokes, radio adverts, music, relationships?

Just love it. So funny simple but so clever. Wink A refreshing change from the reality drivel Smile

QuizTeamaAguilera · 13/04/2017 10:24

the80s I know - we tried to ration them but ended up watching them all last night, DH wanted to leave the last one til tonight but I couldn't go to bed without seeing them all! It's absolutely brilliant.

The80sweregreat · 13/04/2017 10:27

i know, i feel bad now as i should have held off till they came on the tv.
disappointed there are only 4 new ones.

The80sweregreat · 13/04/2017 10:28

.. my kids roll their eyes when i say ' oh , he or she is dead now', my mum and dad used to do this.

I bet all his celeb mates like Gary barlow and co will all want to be in it now.

Are there only 4 episodes? Noooo!

That would mean I've only got one more left! Number 4 wouldn't play last night for some reason. 1st series had 6 eps, if there are only 4 I feel short changed!

Peter, Sian, I hope you're reading! Get some more written ASAP! Smile

There can't not be a Christmas Special with all the talk of the Christmas team.

AristotlesTrousers · 13/04/2017 13:26

There can't not be a Christmas Special with all the talk of the Christmas team.

Ooh yes, a two-parter to finish off the series properly (4 episodes in the series just doesn't seem enough - it needs to be 6!). Smile

WatchMeSoar · 13/04/2017 13:35

I thought it was brilliant but ended abruptly, it feels unfinished.
Think I will join twitter and harangue Peter Kay, in the nicest possible way of course

Jemimapuddleduk · 13/04/2017 13:48

Pretty sure the mumsnet 'are you on glue' came from Peter Kay rather than the other way round! He's been saying it in his stand ups for donkies! It's a fairly common saying in Bolton and Wigan.
It would be fab if him and Sian were mumsnetters though!

HeeHighls · 13/04/2017 17:55

Difficult to discuss without spoiling it for others.

I too thought the outburst from Kayleigh was very sudden. However, what I've liked is the unexpected laugh out moments among much mundane chat.

Ant and Dec are much lauded, but I see their punch line coming every time, which for me isn't funny. I could write that. Anyone could.

Best for me on car share is the lulled in to them chatting and then the boomf!, funny moment. Fish monger, trolley man, dogger. and many more.
Sean by the way is a very convincing drunk. That is very difficult and proved what a brilliant actress she is.

I hope now we see her on our screens all the time.

Clawdy · 13/04/2017 22:46

I thought I could see Reece Shearsmith standing at the bus shelter, then on the bus later! DH disagreed, so it must have been my eyes!

TreeTop7 · 14/04/2017 10:44

It kind of pointed to a Christmas special, with all the references to the Christmas Team selection. Maybe that will be the last one.

It is reminiscent of the Royle Family and Gavin & Stacey. Very warm, subtle, genuinely funny, poignant, strong acting.

The very brief scene where the monkey appeared to be reading the sign was hilarious. I also loved the scenes with Elsie.

The playlist reminds me of taping the charts on a Sunday night in the 1980s and early 1990s. Some forgotten gems!

QueenieGoldstein · 14/04/2017 11:16

I couldn't concentrate on the Elsie episode as half way through I clocked it was Varys from GoT!

QuizTeamaAguilera · 14/04/2017 14:14

Same Queenie Grin DH loves GOT and thought he was brilliant!

Grilledaubergines · 14/04/2017 14:17

Down south and everyone I know gets in. The north is pretty much the same as the south, you see!😂

Anyway, I agree it's excellent.

Grilledaubergines · 14/04/2017 14:17

Gets it

wizzler · 14/04/2017 21:47

discovered it today and binge watched all the episodes... was laughing out loud.. best thing I have watched in ages.
He was eating Pom bears.... he is definitely on MN

AnyFarrahFowler · 14/04/2017 21:47

I was trying so hard to savour each episode and only watch it weekly, but tonight DH & I caved and watched the final 2 episodes on i-Player (we saw the first 2 at the Red Nose Day cinema thingy)
There HAS to be another series - I wouldn't dream of spoiling it for anyone but it can't end like that!!

CMOTDibbler · 14/04/2017 22:10

We failed at our intention of not binge watching too and watched the next 3 episodes on i player last night. Bloody brilliant, and there just has to be another series else I shall have a tantrum

IjustbelieveinMe · 15/04/2017 13:20

I have watched episode 2 three times, even better with Elsie and using subtitles!!

elodie2000 · 15/04/2017 20:35

I agree with the Christmas special theory! I too think the re will be 2 more episodes featuring John's Christmas team!! Can't wait! 😂

I caved and watched them all today.
Had me laughing and crying; such brilliant comedy. Gonna play the playlist when soaking in the bath Grin
