AIBU to think that some people just don't get it? It's been given some rubbish reviews in the press but it is bloody brilliant! Grin Grin Grin
Do you have to be in your 40"s & from up North to understand the jokes, radio adverts, music, relationships?

I don't get the big deal. I want to like it but I don't like his character.

Feebeela · 12/04/2017 14:29

Comedy Gold! Brilliant, sensitive writing and the chemistry between John and Kayleigh is palpable. I think Sian Gibson is fantastic - she plays her character with just the right amount of girlie-ness to make her sympathetic and not as annoying AF. I love it!

Maudlinmaud · 12/04/2017 15:24

So glad it's not just me crushing Pat.
The episode with Reece is class Muffin, na na na na etc CRACKS ME UP!

TheWitTank · 12/04/2017 15:28

Without giving anything away from further episodes for those sensibly spacing them out (wish I had the willpower) Elsie is brilliant! I laughed so much! I know a few Elsies....

CMOTDibbler · 12/04/2017 15:41

I don't like PK normally, and only watched S1 after DH had and told me I'd love it - which I did. Loved the first episode of S2 and will be watching weekly to spread it out!

Am not from the north (currently live just into the W Midlands, from the home counties), though I am in my 40's.

SuperDandy · 12/04/2017 15:49

I've skipped reading because I haven't seen the new series yet. Totally fell in love with it after watching the first one by accident. I'm about as southern as you can get, but yes to forty-something!

Notagainmun · 12/04/2017 15:51

Love this show so much. The monkey was hysterical. I sat through the whole four episodes with a huge smile. Love the characters, the radio the day dreams. The signs were so funny - the spinning hand job sign!!!

ShuttyTown · 12/04/2017 15:54

Love love love it!! Makes me smile so much! Love the chemistry between them.

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/04/2017 16:07

Love this show. The dogging episode really made me laugh. Especially when Kayleigh was all 'DRIVE ON JOHN' once she realised what dogging was actually about.

I knew that was Guy Garvey last night!

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/04/2017 16:12

I've just finished watching all 4 eps of series 2.

I feel all emotional now. Not least because 2 of my favourite songs of all time were used in the final episode.

❤️ Car share

SauvignonBlanche · 12/04/2017 16:18

I'm not going to watch them all at once, I want to savour them!

LittleLionMansMummy · 12/04/2017 17:11

Oh please don't put car share in the same box as Mrs Brown White! I absolutely love car share, but like you, I hate Mrs Brown!

BabychamSocialist · 12/04/2017 17:18

I loved it. It's my favourite type of comedy - like the Office, all the humour comes from the relationships and trying to make each other laugh. I liked how the relationship actually developed over the first series and they slowly revealed stuff about each other. I like it because even though it's a comedy, the characters in it seem real. They're both basically in dead-end jobs, just muddling through and neither is really happy about their situation but they're putting a brave face on it. We all know people like that and many of us are like that ourselves!

I'm really rooting for them to be together by the end of this series, they'd be a great couple because she brings out his softer side!

UrsulaPandress · 12/04/2017 17:21

I loathe Mrs Brown's Boys.

DimsieMaitland · 12/04/2017 17:40

I bloody love it.
Brillington College, where brilliant is nearly our name, is my favourite, along with Who's in the Toaster and the Shed Surgery.

Biggest fan in our house is teen DD who knows series 1 off by heart in the same way I could 'do' all the Victoria Wood sketches in the 80s. (I'm in my 40s, so the music is mostly my era.)

I've been singing Bardo's One Step Further all day (the female singer in that duo played Miss Bertha in Acorn Antiques the Musical - random musical theatre fact of the day.)

SpreadYourHappiness · 12/04/2017 18:03

Oh I adore Mrs Browns Boys too Grin

HeeHighls · 12/04/2017 19:10

I Love it too, watched all 4 episodes earlier and had a gulp over the last one so hoping for more.

Sian Gibson wasn't even acting when approached to take part by Peter Kay, but working in a Call Centre for the past year! Shows how tough the acting world is that she nearly escaped from our screens for ever.

They wrote it together but I think PK has been very generous with the script, giving Sian the best lines. She is utterly brilliant and I so warmed to her.

If I was to convert someone to watching it, I'd ask if they watch Gogglebox? If they do, then they'd love Car Share.

Did I see a BBC trailer where Sian was one of a group of women for an up coming programme?

I won't spoil series 2 for anyone, but from 1, loved the fishmonger and Kayleigh holding the car scent thing every time he leant forward.

Best though was when she set eyes on Ted 2. Up there with the "Bic" episode on OFAH. A falling off the sofa moment. Totally unexpected.

ViserysGoldCrown · 12/04/2017 19:23

I LOVE it and I'm 17 and as southern as you can be Blush I've rewatched series one multiple times and watched all of two last night and the end had me crying... Doubt there will be another series but we can live in hope for a Christmas special!

The80sweregreat · 12/04/2017 19:26

love this show, it is a classic already.

Libitina · 12/04/2017 19:27

I loved it -I watched all 4 episodes on iPlayer

Same here, it's great! End up spending a fortune on itunes though.

The80sweregreat · 12/04/2017 19:29

i said this on telly addicts, but ep 4 has a small mumsnet reference, so Sian if your a mumsnetter.. ( taps nose)

Twopeapods · 12/04/2017 19:32

Love it! The dogging episode was my favourite. Stayed up past my bedtime to watch all of it on iplayer. And was chuffed when they showed up in my towns Safari Park! Which is Stirling, central Scotland btw!

buntingqueen · 12/04/2017 19:40

Absolutely love it! In our 30s, in the South, and (I think!) we still get the jokes!

elodie2000 · 12/04/2017 19:44

Oh no! I HATE Mrs Brown's boys!
Nothing like Car share humour!

Absolutely love it!

I rarely laugh out loud at a programme but this does it for me.
As a programme I feel like it shouldn't work - two people driving to work? Sounds dull AF but the things that have been put in like the music video daydreams, the cheesy radio, the daft road signs etc 😂.

I love Peter Kay stuff anyway. I am Northern (not far from Peter) aged 33 and 3/4s.
