Job interview at a holiday/hotel/B&B place (trying not to identify myself)

Owner is showing me around and explaining how to clean the rooms, systems etc

Gets to the bedding and says "if the occupant has only stayed one night we don't change the bedding, just smooth it out and iron". I.e. The next guest gets the same fucking bedding Envy

That's grim right? And they have FIVE STARS

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/04/2017 16:04

We ran a B&B, sheets changed every time a guest left and cups washed up in the dishwasher

Floggingmolly · 03/04/2017 16:05

What sort of creature would boil their knickers in a kettle other people were going to make tea from?
There are some right fucking savages roaming the earth Shock

Emmageddon · 03/04/2017 16:05

Urgh. That's gross. Didn't you say anything to her? Surely sheets slept in by someone will have their odour (bad or good) attached to them? I'm pretty sure I'd be able to tell if I was clambering between dirty sheets that had just been straightened.

TheSparrowhawk · 03/04/2017 16:05

I think you picked her up wrong - surely she means that they don't change the sheets every day, they only change them after two days or when a guest leaves.

Chevrons · 03/04/2017 16:07

No. Cleans are only done when a guest has left. They are self contained

OP posts:
EpoxyResin · 03/04/2017 16:08

Yeah, I was thinking the same as Sparrow. If they're changed every time a guest leaves then no guest sleeps in another guest's sheets.

If they aren't changed after each guest (so long as each guest only stays a night) they could go weeks without being changed despite multiple guests sleeping in them for one night each. As a pp said. Which doesn't sound at all right.

thatorchidmoment · 03/04/2017 16:09

This CANNOT be true OP.

please don't ruin my faith in humanity

EpoxyResin · 03/04/2017 16:09

Cleans are only done when a guest has left.

Yeah... so... no guest sleeps in another guest's sheets because they have to have left before the next guests gets their room, right?

EpoxyResin · 03/04/2017 16:10

"They" being the first guest.

BorpBorpBorp · 03/04/2017 16:10

I thought everyone liked a delicious mug of boiled piss before bed. Perfect alternative for when you've run out of Horlicks.

oliviaoatcake · 03/04/2017 16:11

Oh Jesus!

AcrossthePond55 · 03/04/2017 16:11

But I'd think a guest could tell. Sheets slept in even once get 'wrinkly'. Even smoothing them over they just don't look crisp and 'fresh'.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/04/2017 16:14

Disgusting!

Yes - I really think I'd be able to tell. There's a look to newly-laundered/pressed sheets that you're just not going to be able to get by smoothing it over. That's what I'll keep telling myself, anyway.

Madbengalmum · 03/04/2017 16:16

Oooh, so its not a five star hotel OP?
More like five star bnb/self catering accommodation.

Madbengalmum · 03/04/2017 16:17

Nevertheless it is truly grim.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 03/04/2017 16:24

When I wash my sheets and sleep in them the first night. When I get in the second night I can smell my own perfume, dh aftershave etc. I'm pretty confident id smell someone else's.

Also just washed sheets have a crisp feel to them.

Where is this hotel place?

Olinguito · 03/04/2017 16:29

I briefly had a holiday job as a hotel chambermaid and also saw used bath towels being used to wipe the loo and bath, and then to dry the tea cups.

ButtercupChain · 03/04/2017 16:31

That is rank and vile. Even the flippin' Travelodge and Premier Inn change the damn sheets.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!! Shock

Trumpton · 03/04/2017 16:32

We found a wallet under a pillow when we went to bed our first night in a very naice hotel.
That was an interesting conversation with the manager !

ButtercupChain · 03/04/2017 16:32

What hotel is it anyway???

1stDinkyDecker · 03/04/2017 16:35

I'm so pleased I didn't actually book the hotel I was looking at earlier,
in fact reading this makes me want to change my own bed, and I only did it yesterday!

VestalVirgin · 03/04/2017 16:35

Good to know. I will never again spend money on a five star hotel, when I can get the same lack of hygiene in a B&B with no stars at all.

Pigface1 · 03/04/2017 16:35

Gross. Gross. Gross. Gross. Gross.
