Job interview at a holiday/hotel/B&B place (trying not to identify myself)

Owner is showing me around and explaining how to clean the rooms, systems etc

Gets to the bedding and says "if the occupant has only stayed one night we don't change the bedding, just smooth it out and iron". I.e. The next guest gets the same fucking bedding Envy

That's grim right? And they have FIVE STARS

I used to work in a hotel and never changed the sheets if they weren't obviously dirty or didn't smell. I was supppsed to but was 17 and didn't give a shit.

NoLotteryWinYet · 03/04/2017 15:52

what fresh hell is this? This is why I always wear pjs when I stay in hotels. Revolting!

Chevrons · 03/04/2017 15:52

They don't get changed during stays.

Only on departure. So if one person stays one night the next guest gets their sheets.

Peachypeaches · 03/04/2017 15:53

Other lovely things staff were caught doing included using the previous guests dirty towels to clean the bathroom and dry the cups and saucers with. I can never bring myself to use the cups in a hotel room for this reason. Also be careful of the kettle/teapot, they are pretty often peed in by guests.

Chevrons · 03/04/2017 15:53

And it was weird because she was so picky about other stuff and all I could think was BUT THE SHEETS

OP posts:
MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 03/04/2017 15:53

Yup. Never, ever touch a hotel/B&B bedspread with your rubber gloves on Envy

Chevrons · 03/04/2017 15:53

Peachey, my mum was a chambermaid for years and flatly refuses to use the in room cups too!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 03/04/2017 15:54

We also used to check for pubes and if all ok remake the bed.

PrettyGoodLife · 03/04/2017 15:55

Disgusting! I did see worse in turkey, They sewed the sheets to the blanket so that they did not get rumpled between guests...we walked out and found somewhere else. They did not claim to have any stars let alone 5!

weddingopinionsplease · 03/04/2017 15:55

That is fucking vile eeewwwwwww

peaceloveandbiscuits · 03/04/2017 15:55

I am never ever staying in a hotel again. Ever.

LonginesPrime · 03/04/2017 15:56

Why would anyone pee in a kettle??

Fortheloveofdog · 03/04/2017 15:56

That's vile. I work in a hotel, and the sheets are always changed. Don't get me started on the things guests do though!! Shock

HappyFlappy · 03/04/2017 15:57

I think I'm going to be sick . . .

Floggingmolly · 03/04/2017 15:59

They don't get changed during stays. Only on departure
But that directly contradicts what you've been saying, op. A three nighter only gets one set of sheets, but they're changed when he checks out for the next guest.
How else would you interpret that?

Peachypeaches · 03/04/2017 15:59

Longines, just a handy receptacle if someone else was in the bathroom I think, either that or they were just completely minging.

rightsofwomen · 03/04/2017 16:00

My FIL found a turd in his bed in a hotel in Old Delhi once.

Katedotness1963 · 03/04/2017 16:01

I saw something on TV where someone found underwear in the kettle in a hotel. Apparently the previous person had put their knickers in the kettle and boiled it to do their laundry...

LonginesPrime · 03/04/2017 16:01

Peachy, I have no words...

talksensetome · 03/04/2017 16:01

I NEED BRAIN BLEACH

NotYoda · 03/04/2017 16:02

From what you've said, I don't think she meant that. Or you haven't explained it to us.

DaisyBlameless · 03/04/2017 16:02

Name and shame.

Seriously.

Chevrons · 03/04/2017 16:02

Floggingmolly, because if they only stay for one night and then leave they aren't changed.

If a guest stays for more than one night they are changed for the next guest.

OP posts:
NotYoda · 03/04/2017 16:03

.... as Floggingmolly said

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 03/04/2017 16:03

Do people really pee in kettles pretty often? Shock I must lead a very sheltered existence.
