Three pairs of pants is NOT enough... is it??

Noticed there were hardly ever pairs of DP's pants in the wash basket, so I bought him a pack that looked comfy and were reasonably priced, and put them in his underwear drawer.

When I mentioned I'd done this he said, "Oh, you didn't need to do that - I already have three pairs."

I press him on this and he says that, 'as [he's] not a woman', he doesn't need to change his pants every day and three pairs is plenty.

As in he literally own three pairs. In total.

He's been wearing them in rotation and if I'd have to estimate I'd say that unless I forcibly liberate them from his Floor Closet (that's a rant for another day) they aren't getting washed more than once every two weeks.

Am I being precious or is this just... eughh???!!

That's grim

phoenixtherabbit · 22/03/2017 13:01

YANBU that's gross.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 22/03/2017 13:01

Ewww. That's grim

TheDuckSaysMoo · 22/03/2017 13:02

Pretty gross but it is his choice. I'm not sure if it is better or worse than my dh's choice to not wear any.

Sirzy · 22/03/2017 13:02

Yuck!

Not that it matters but is he wearing one pair for 2 weeks? Or each one for about 5 days?

Petalbird · 22/03/2017 13:03

Eek when ever he takes them off put them straight in the washing machine

GuinessPunch · 22/03/2017 13:03

Yuck. You have sex with that.

QuizTeamaAguilera · 22/03/2017 13:03

YANBU! Clean pants every day is very important! I think my DH has about 7-8 pairs in total and always puts clean ones on after his daily shower.

BorpBorpBorp · 22/03/2017 13:03

Grim.

MiddleClassProblem · 22/03/2017 13:04

What's gender got to do with it? Willies are worse as they leak a bit sometimes after!

Sirzy · 22/03/2017 13:04

Does he wash?

Twistmeandturnme · 22/03/2017 13:05

The three pants rule is for independent travelling: (one pair on, one in the wash, one on the line) to minimise packing.
It is not an excuse to be a filthy so and so.
Clean pants every day.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 22/03/2017 13:06

Eugh!

I thought the FiL who only owned 6 pairs was odd!

ijustwannadance · 22/03/2017 13:06

That is pure laziness.

I also would wonder how clean his bits are!

MatildaTheCat · 22/03/2017 13:08

Mark my words, this will not be the full extent of his crimes against decency. You have been warned.

Does he own a toothbrush?

JennyOnAPlate · 22/03/2017 13:08

Absolutely rank!!

MatildaTheCat · 22/03/2017 13:11

Quick question due to use if the word 'closet', can we be clear you are discussing underpants? If you are American then you could possibly mean trousers to the British reader.

But I don't think you do?

Floggingmolly · 22/03/2017 13:12

He rotates them, but they're not washed between wears?? Does he have a shower and put back on dirty pants, or does he not bother to shower either?
That's not endearingly eccentric, that's disgustingly filthy Envy
How can you bear to touch him without a ten foot pole?

Floggingmolly · 22/03/2017 13:13

Do they sell trousers in packs of three, Matilda? Grin

DorothyBastard · 22/03/2017 13:14

That is really foul. How on earth has he reached adulthood without learning/realising that that is not okay?

OhTheRoses · 22/03/2017 13:16

Ugh. Mine is the other extreme. Cotton lawn boxers x at least 25/30 and he likes them ironed and folded a certain way. Kept in his drawer in neat piles of five. All in shades of blue, with or without a pattern. His socks have to be folded too; black for work usually browny at weekends. Don't get me onto the handkerchiefs.

Fancy a swap OP?

Sunnysky2016 · 22/03/2017 13:17

That's disgusting! Clean everyday and after a shower is the rule

Laiste · 22/03/2017 13:17

they aren't getting washed more than once every two weeks.

My DS would do this if left to his own devices. But he is 13. And I nag him about it.

My DH changes every day and wouldn't dream of doing anything else.

I'm a very infrequent launderer by MN standards. I wear clothes other than underwear multiple times. But just No.
