To potentially get our postman fired

DP is a camera geek. On the weekend he bought a camera trap for catching wildlife in the garden. He wanted to test it out so set it up by the front door so he could test it by the kids going in and out. It's been there since Sunday.

So this evening he had a look at the footage with DD(5). There's us, there's the cat, there's the postman. Oh look, there's the postman having a piss against our garden wall Shock.

Our door is round the side of the house, so out of sight from the road. There's the door, the path next to the house, a small patch of grass and the neighbours wall. He literally posted a letter, turned round, knob out, pissed all over the grass and wall. Knob away, off to post more letters, obviously without washing his hands. Envy

It was done so casually it's hard to believe he's not done it before. On the plus side, he posted our letters first so that won't be covered in piss Grin. But seriously, who would do that?!

Thing is, we're in a village where everyone knows each other, and he's been the postie for years. But IANBU to report him and potentially get him sacked am I?! I have a slight pricking of my conscience if he did lose his job, but surely that's his problem, not mine?!

Whose wall did he he piss on? Your wall or the neighbours (sic)?

I don't know Norland, I'd have to check the deeds. But it is the wall between our property and the neighbour's (better?). That's generally how walls work.

Not a genuine suggestion but I would be very tempted to just take a still from the video, blow it up and put it in your window.

FGS indecent exposure where exactly! He was out of sight, and wee against a wall with his back facing outwards, jeez. The sign is a Good idea 😃

Having a wee in a field or a hedge is completely different from having a wee right outside someones door.I dont know why thats so hard to understand.

i agree it's gross But I'd not report him,and certainly not want him fired.
I think your dh and his camera sounds odder than the pissing postie

Don't you legally need to have a sign up if you have cctv?

Report
Baffledonthisone · 09/02/2017 19:58

As in, I think you could get in trouble for this yourself.

Ours takes a piss at the local community centre. I see him every time I'm at my aerobics class.

We haven't had public loo in our village for 25years!! No village within 10 mile radius has public loos either. They were all closed duevto them needing upgrading and costs too great. He would have to go to nearest town in our area.

Report
Willow2016 · 09/02/2017 20:27

Just leave a note to say you caught him on wildlife camera and not to do it again.

Willow2016 · 09/02/2017 20:34

Btw I agree at your front door is disgusting. He could stop outside the village and do it into the verge. Often see men at the layby before our village 'relieving themselves' 😚

We had a postman once who was spitting in our communal stairway. This is an indoor stairway... granted it has minimalistic decoration but it's not a bare concrete open to all the weather type of stairwell either... GROSS. We called the local sorting office and he was disciplined but not sacked.

FGS that's disgusting when it can't be washed away. Was he still your postman after that?

booshbeesh'perhaps an illiterate 14 year old may come along soon and be able to decipher your ramblings for me.....until then, perhaps you could consider both a dictionary and a grammar check. Hth

Can I ask how old he is? Maybe he is having problems with prostate, etc? I wouldn't report him, but I would ask him not to do it again.

I'm a postie and wouldn't dream of pissing in someone's garden! Rural posties all have vans so it's very easy to find a deserted field if you're caught short.
I would definitely report him!!

Crikey, so the reliable postie who has been serving the local area for years was in need and your garden wall offered privacy. Shame on you for thinking of reporting him. Just give it a hose from time to time. Ask your husband if he has ever been in such a situation. As he gets older he most certainly will.

I'm always in awe of women who can piss in bushes, since having the DC I've not been able to (tmi?)

I'd love to see a picture of the sign in situ! Grin

I am in the minority it seems but I think that is disgusting. There's a difference between a fox taking a piss and a grown man. Find a field not someone's bloody front garden

Bearsinmotion · 10/02/2017 11:28

Would your answer be different Happy if he was using this as a regular piss stop? While I don't want to keep the camera there there any longer (I don't really want it there at all!) I am concerned it is a regular thing. It's hard to describe, it just looked like a practised move!

DP hasn't pissed in a strangers garden, no. A field, maybe, and given there is one at the end of the road, that's exactly what the postman could do.

The thing I don't get is why, having done the wee, he turned around with his willie still out....totally unnecessary. Surely he would zip up before turning round....just in case there was someone home??

Report
Bearsinmotion · 10/02/2017 11:40

Anyway it's all irrelevant now. DP has put the sign up, but took the camera down, so we won't see any reaction :(

Hopefully that's the end of it, although DP is still keen to report to Royal Mail. I've told him I think the note is enough, unless he wants to suggest Royal Mail look at how what they expect posties to do. Although I don't think he'll get anywhere.

I wouldn't cause a fuss over such a small thing- yes it's unpleasant but really you'd like him to possibly lose his job !?
If leave a note in the door for the postman telling him he's been caught on camera having a wee you understand there's no public loos close by but can he chose somewhere else please as it smells ... he'll be embarrassed but st least he can feed his family still!
