Inspired by the other perfume thread, it got me thinking about what I used to wear as a teenager. I will forever miss Tramp, Moon Drops and anything by Yardley!

What are your favourite scents from years gone by?

Armani not Armando
?

bevelino · 12/10/2016 00:07

When I was a teen I used to think the height of sophistication was Georgio. It was a heavy scent and you could smell me a mile away.

cissyfuss · 12/10/2016 00:11

Paloma Picasso... you knew I was in the area before you saw me with that one....!

BowieFan · 12/10/2016 00:14

There'ssomeone in our staff room that is wearing something that smells exactly like Brut, which I was sure they stopped making in about 1982! Maybe he's been using the same bottle since then...

Andron by Jovan.

I properly loved that.

dowhatnow · 12/10/2016 00:19

Obsession and anais anais.

I recently bought DH paco rebanne as it reminded me of old boyfriends Blush #trip down memory lane

Flossyfloof · 12/10/2016 00:20

Iamabluebird - Khadine, by Yardley.
Named after the favourite of the harem.
She bathed in petalled pools,
Dressed in scented silks,
Got anything she wanted -
With Khadine by Yardley, you might too!
I never did, but I loved it.
Loved Aquamanda about 1970/71.
Then Havoc by Mary Quant was lovely.
Panache and my sister always had Cachet.
Heaven Scent
Rive Gauche - strong!,
Anais Anais - very pretty
I still have Loulou and Samsara, love them!
Also love Kasmir by Cacharel and still wear it - makes me smell like a vanilla slice, yum!

JellyBelli · 12/10/2016 00:22

Jovan Musk, Tabu and Blue Grass, I recently bought some and have been on a trip down memory lane.
I also bought some Pagan and I cant wear it. I realised its the perfume that Dads bit on the side used to wear Sad

dowhatnow · 12/10/2016 00:22

Does anybody remember the pretty peach kids range from Avon? They did bubble bath, perfume, soap etc. The bottle was peach coloured and the lid had a leaf on it.
Was part of my Christmas and birthdays for many years.
Along with soap on a rope.

ClinkyMonkey · 12/10/2016 00:37

KC225, I loved Halston too. I was trying to remember the name of it (could picture the curvy cream and glass bottle) when I spotted your post.

I also wore Poison, Anais Anais and Cerutti 1881.

Tartyflette · 12/10/2016 00:43

Hector I love Eau de Givenchy too! They have repackaged it as part of the Les Mythiques range (along with Givenchy III) . It's so fresh and summery for me. But it has become very expensive.
I used to love L'Air du Temps but it has been reformulated and does not smell the same at all to me these days.
My mum had a tiny bottle of Balmain's Vent Vert in the 50s, it was real perfume, not EDP or EDT, very concentrated and immensely powerful, really green, grassy and herbal. i adored it and am forever trying to buy vintage bottle on eBay. It is still available in places like Harrods but it too has been reformulated and is no longer as wonderful.
I love lots of old Guerlain scents too, like Apres L'Ondée, Chamade, Mitsouko and Nahèma.
I also had Fidji by Laroche, the original Magie from Lancôme and two from Schiaparelli, Shocking and 'S'.
Currently I like Dzongkha and Premier Figuier from L'Artisan Parfumeur.

GreyHare · 12/10/2016 00:46

My Mum used to wear Eau De Gucci and I would wait for her to leave work and then go and cover myself in it before I went to school, I loved the smell of it and nothing comes close to it now.

I used to wear all the cheap ones in boots, like charlie, exclamation, la jardin nuit, lou lou, noah (I have a huge sticky patch on the carpet and worked out it was the perfume residue, it was really greasy and sticky horrible stuff)

MsPavlichenko · 12/10/2016 00:53

Coty L'Amour. 14th birthday present. Blue Grass.

Seren85 · 12/10/2016 00:57

As a teen everyone wore Tommy Girl or CK One (or the rip offs from the market!) I've worn Chanel No5 since I was 18, now 32, my mother hates it. Only for evening though. I have worked my way through the various Ghost scents over the years. I like Cherish. Original Ghost in the blue bottle smells like stepping back in time. I used to like Hugo Boss Intense but it was discontinued. I also wore a lot of Pure Poison but too many memories of ex. I can't smell Lacoste Pink without immediately back in my then 14 year old sister's bedroom!

shadowfax07 · 12/10/2016 01:19

Mystere de Rochas, which is now discontinued and very sadly missed.

I was trying to remember my Avon favourite as a little girl, it was Pretty Peach, and yes to the soap on a rope!

Then Charlie as a young teen

I moved onto Dewberry from the Body Shop, alternated with White Musk.
With a dash of Patchouli if I could I get my hands on it.

Then I got a job and a bit more money. I loved Youth Dew and Rive
Guache, though I still wore lighter Body Shop perfumes or Aquamanda for work

However, I discovered Poison! I know it is taboo on MN but by heavens I loved it. I still sneak in for a squirt every now and again. Poison Tendre, Poison Hypnotic 😊❤️😊

Then I moved on to CKOne in my more androgenous stage of life (this makes laugh at myself SO much!!😃😃😃)

In recent years I have become a hippie 😉so I wear Patchouli and get so many compliments. I only use a tiny drop and it lasts for ever.
But the perfume that I get most compliments on was £3.50 in a little Sufi shop in Glastonbury. I am going back soon and intend to stock up.

I love this thread though I will have killed it as I usually do.

FindoGask · 12/10/2016 05:21

The first perfume I was ever bought was Ma Griffe when I was a teenager in the early 90s. I loved it, it was sharp and dry and interesting. They still do it I think but have changed the formulation so I don't know if it will smell the same.

Dunkling · 12/10/2016 05:46

Poison, was it the first mainstream designer scent? But I was in my teens and couldn't afford it SO I decided it must be just leftover stock now, or out of fashion and cheap, or vintage or something But most definitely cheap and so was going to get myself some as I love it, so looked on Amazon. Nope..... still ££40 upwards.

NickiFury · 12/10/2016 05:53

Giorgio
Lou Lou
Poison
Anais Anais
Paloma Picasso

Georgiesgirl · 12/10/2016 05:56

Montana in the spirally bottle. Sadly discontinued. They brought it back but, alas, not the same. I bought a few old testers on eBay but don't want use them up. Just the odd sniff now and again. Really takes me back. Sigh.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/10/2016 05:58

I used to wear Sex Appeal for Women by Jovan when I was 17. Or Cinnabar. My then boyfriend wore Aramis - you must have been able to smell us a mile off!

CrabbyJo · 12/10/2016 06:24

My DM always wore Opium or Rive Gauche.
I was a fan of Trésor

BARB060609 · 12/10/2016 06:29

Haven't read all the comments so not sure if anyone has already mentioned Fatale by Coty? I absolutely loved it and every now and then google to find out if anyone has made a perfume similar to it as it was discontinued a long time ago.

I used to love Le Jardin and Le Jardin D'amour. I remember the TV advert featured Jane Seymour! Actually managed to by Le Jardin D'Amour on Amazon a while back and it still smelt lovely :). Also, loved the Body Shop's White Musk - I think at one point there couldn't have been a school girl in a classroom in 1987 who didn't use that stuff!!
