Inspired by the other perfume thread, it got me thinking about what I used to wear as a teenager. I will forever miss Tramp, Moon Drops and anything by Yardley!

What are your favourite scents from years gone by?

I used to love a Monsoon perfume back in the 90's. Came in a blue bottle with a gold pointed lid. I was so sad when they stopped selling it.

AgentCooper · 12/10/2016 13:26

squirrel, is Libertine discontinued? Oh that's so sad. First perfume I ever bought for myself when I was 16, in Paris at Galeries Lafayette. I thought I was so sophisticated.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 12/10/2016 13:35

Feminine de Bois on today.
It was a beauty.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/10/2016 13:36

I wonder if Deci Dela is a question of ingredients being banned and them being unable to formulate adequate replacements. So many people seem to have liked it, and there doesn't seem to be a fake version at Perfume Parlour.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 12/10/2016 13:53

I liked pagan, remember loads of the ones mentioned like smitty, panache, charlie, etc fond memories of the avon peach stuff as a little girl getting gift sets of it or soap on a rope. I always aspired to a powder puff and talc and auntie eventually bought me one for xmas. Later I read a book that featured the heroine using Ma Griffe so asked for that for xmas, can't remember if I actually liked it! best present ever as a teen was a youth dew set from then boyfriend, loved it but god it stunk! my mum had chantilly, but always went on about her old fave red door or something similar, gran had anything by yardley, I always bought her those bath cubes that were individually wrapped in squares in a box. my later faves were opium and now it's chanel no 5. ahh nostalgia.

Tanith · 12/10/2016 14:39

Chanel no. 5

I never actually wore it - I'm allergic to a lot of sprays and perfumes - but I was given it for Christmas.

I used the whole lot on the inside of my brother's suitcase that was packed ready for a Rugby trip to France (can't remember what he'd done to me, but my retaliation was well deserved!). My brother was a prop.

I was friends with one of the backs and he gave me a very edifying resumé of the moment my brother opened the case in the dorm Grin
According to him, every scrum was marked by hesitations and sidelong glances from the opposing teams GrinGrin

4711 cologne - I still have a little bottle as the smell reminds me so much of my grandmother.

Dewberry, of course: there are a lot of 80s teen years on here!

I didn't buy my first real perfume till I was at college: it was Calvin Klein Eternity. At about the same time I discovered Paloma Picasso and still wear it now for evenings.

These days I wear Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde or Pampelune for daytime. L'Occitane also do one that I really like - The Vert & Bigarade.

Flossyfloof · 12/10/2016 23:52

Takesnoprisoners - I think it was by Yves Rocher, if that helps.

Only1scoop · 12/10/2016 23:59

Rafinee and Lancome Miracle

Ladybirdbookworm · 13/10/2016 00:05

Stepaway you could be me !!!!

So pleased a pp mentioned Dior Remember me
I searched high and low for that for my MIL before she died .
I also loved a Madame Rochas fragrance called Femme - my husband said it made me smell healthy ..... not sure what he meant by that

I had a squirt of Geminesse in a perfumery in York last year - it wasn't the same apparently they no longer are allowed to use 'animal musk' - says it all really !!!

0pti0na1 · 13/10/2016 00:32

WhatsGoingOnEh was it Blasé in the little tester tubes?

I also remember Body Shop Dewberry, Panache and Chique!

Katedotness1963 · 13/10/2016 00:53

Back in the '80's I loved Anais Anais.
Then I moved on to V by Vanderbilt? May not remember that correctly...
Since then, nothing really. I've been using a Coach perfume for the last 3/4 years, because my husband bought it for me.

Redglitter · 13/10/2016 00:56

Byzance & Rive Gauche were my 2 favourites

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 13/10/2016 00:59

I wore ghost in the pale blue bottle when I was at school. People still buy me it now though. So sometimes wear it.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 13/10/2016 01:01

My very first perfume was Blasé !

I moved on to Samsara and Opium.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 13/10/2016 06:16

Ladybookworm- Femme by Rochas is considered quite skanky...(in a good way of course!)..as in, it's supposedly one of those perfumes that has undertones of animalic sex and pants about it...it is on my wishlist for that very curious reason!

Secretmetalfan · 13/10/2016 08:24

My mum used to love youth do(?) Don't think you can get it now. But was a staple of every birthday And Christmas

BelladiNotte · 13/10/2016 08:43

secretmetal it was Youth Dew Grin . My mum loved that.

hopetobehappy · 13/10/2016 08:44

Was it youth dew by Estée Lauder? my mum always wore that too.

SabineUndine · 13/10/2016 08:47

Eau Folle by Guy Laroche. Was never available in the UK.

BowieFan · 13/10/2016 09:23

I think everybody had Youth Dew at some point. I'm sure my mum buys it by the gallon now. I used to love one called Tabu which, for some reason, smelled like Oak trees and lemons. Wish I could still get that.

I wore Ralph Lauren romance through school, still love it and wore it on my wedding day.
Wore D&G light blue the whole of summer 2005 which was the summer after I'd moved out and turned 18 that summer - reminds me of going to the pub every weekend and after parties Grin

Fozzleyplum · 13/10/2016 09:38

Bowie Fan, it is possible still to get Tabu. My mum buys it from a scent stall at our local market!

S1lentAllTheseYears · 13/10/2016 10:01

I used body shop white musk although I secretly preferred dewberry but that was my sister's favourite and I didn't want to be accused of copying her!

People bought me all sorts of white musk stuff for years!

Discovered anais anais later and, crucially, before my sister did, so that was mine!!

I still have some random body spray which I used when pregnant with DS1. I keep it at the back of a drawer and every so often I find it and have a smell and I am right back there in all the lovely excitement of a first pregnancy Smile

Florentina (??) from M&S was another favourite - more in body lotions and things. I loved getting a gift pack of that for Christmas and birthdays (more so than the white musk!)

HelsinkiLights · 13/10/2016 23:27

Vanderbilt I had everything in the range & would also get the umbrella with the swan handle.Though tried Vanderbilt a few years ago & smelt rank on me.
Shalimar
L'air du temps
Tatiana by Diane von Furstenberg (I think.)
Fatale
Manifesto by Isabella Rossellini

I had a perfume obsessed mother who liked to splurge on me.
