Inspired by the other perfume thread, it got me thinking about what I used to wear as a teenager. I will forever miss Tramp, Moon Drops and anything by Yardley!

What are your favourite scents from years gone by?

Ralph Lauren - Romance

latedecember1963 · 11/10/2016 22:27

When I was about 14 I had a perfume called Havoc by Mary Quant which used to make my dad howl with laughter.
Day to day I went through La Jardin and Body Shop White Musk phases.
The one that always takes me back to my late teens, early 20's is KL by Karl Lagerfeld which was a heady vampish smell which I loved and I'm the antithesis of vampish!

YodellingForJesus · 11/10/2016 22:30

I found a long forgotten bottle of Deci Dela in a box of old stuff from the loft. Teenage DD loves it and it smells great on her.

Eggsbutnotbacon -
Apple Blossom was by Helena Rubenstein I think ?

It was my mother's favourite. I loved seeing that curvy ( but I think plastic!?) bottle, with a little fabric bow , on her dressing table. And her tiny bronze leather stilettos! Utter glamour it was!

CashelGirl · 11/10/2016 22:38

Body shop sandalwood for everyday and Paloma Picasso for special. It was my signature scent for a long time....

I loved Avon soft musk . I remember when the Avon catalogue came through the door the fragrance pages were smelly so you could 'try' before you buy. And you could get the whole package for the one you liked, not just fragrance but soap, bubble bath, body lotion and even, yes, talc

blackbunny · 11/10/2016 22:43

I remember some girl at school used a perfume that smelled of apples, just that, think it was called Green Apple and was in a bottle shaped like an apple- ring any bells with anyone?

StripeyWife · 11/10/2016 22:44

Oh and Georgio Beverly Hills . A boy once said I smelt gorgeous wearing it so I doused myself in it for the next 10 years . Can't stand it now it bloody stinks!

Lovesabadboy · 11/10/2016 22:45

I don't think anyone has mentioned Cachet?

I used to love that from about 1979, when I was 11. Smile

Odyssey was in the mid-80's - I had the whole range of that - talc, roll on perfume etc

White Musk is still quite pleasant for daytime use - my daughter's bought me some for Christmas!!

I was once bought some Givenchy III by a boyfriend, which I thought was the so grown up, but it used to give me horrendous headaches, so I had to give it away!

I love this thread. I've dug the archers out of the cupboard and am sat having an archers and lemonade wishing I was 18 again.

cathaka15 · 11/10/2016 22:49

Ex'cla ma'tion

Tuscany. I loved it. Also L'Eau de Issy and Aqua di Gio, and Truth by CK.

SallyR0se · 11/10/2016 22:50

The Nina Ricci ones in the sort of squiggly bottle. Came in all different colours / scents but the green & pink was the main one. I loved girly perfumes & there was a pink Dior one that smelled like ginger ale. Had a few bottles of that.
My first proper perfume (Body Shop & Impulse as a teen) was Calvin Klein Escape. It was super strong with with an echo of melon. Tried a new perfume in L'Occitane today that reminded me of a perfume I had in my 20s. Don't know what though...

thisismeusernameything · 11/10/2016 22:50

DKNY Be Delicious blackbunny

SallyR0se · 11/10/2016 22:56

Deci Dela. Had bottles of the stuff. That might be the smell I remembered today... Lovely!

WatchingFromTheWings · 11/10/2016 22:57

So! Charlie (red & blue) and Exclamation! Also loved The Body Shops coconut and Dewberry perfumes!

BowieFan · 11/10/2016 22:59

Has anyone mentioned LouLou? That, combined with the smell of Players No. 6 cigs reminds me of going to the bingo with my grandma and behind the gym at school.

bowiefan yes, that's the one Grin
I can still smell it!

My mum wore l'air du temps for day time and Red Door - Elizabeth Arden for night.

Bizarreorwhat · 11/10/2016 23:05

Aqua do gio, rive gauche, anais anais, poison, Estée Lauder beautiful, Chanel no5, Giorgio Beverly Hills, YSL Paris, L'aimant, body shop white musk, givenchy amarige, Liz Claiborne, Dior dolce vita, Rochas byzance, body shop dewberry, le jardin,

BowieFan · 11/10/2016 23:05

I remember thinking I was v. posh in the 1990s when DP bought me Davidoff Cool Water (which you can now probably buy by the litre in TJ Hughes) Grin

I still wear it actually as an every day thing. That and CK Obsession are always in my make up bag. I used to like Liz Taylor Diamonds until I realised Liz Taylor was old even when that came out and she's been dead for years.

Lou Lou takes me back to Greece in 1989 - halcyon days! Went through a phase of wearing Drakar Noir aftershave too.

Undersmile · 11/10/2016 23:08

What an evocative thread!

Sea Jade - I would like to know how that smelt.

blondieblondie · 11/10/2016 23:08

Ah, this thread reminds me of having disposable income to fritter away on perfume, make up, clothes and whatever the hell I wanted.

DKNY, Ralph Lauren Romance, Lacoste (not sure of the name, Pour Femme?), Clinique Happy, Acqua do Gio
