Women on here

Being reasonably new to this site/chat app ...
Having read a few threads in the last couple of days and coming across a lot of unnecessary comments .. AIBU to ask why it seems a lot of women on here seem very quick to throw nasty, horrible insults at other women on here?
I know people are asking for opinions, but, not character assassinations...!
Shouldn't us mums/women stick together and help eachother with advice instead of throwing horrible, bitchy, comments around?

usual, you cunt Grin

Anybody seen AtrociousCunt recently btw?

I would absolutely buy a book called 'Sockpuppet Hunting with Justin and Iona' - genius! MN is missing a trick if they don't add that to their line of published books.

TiggyD · 17/09/2016 21:15

There are women on here?!

I think they should all identify themselves by having a female name on the site.

FruVikingessOla · 17/09/2016 21:58

Yeah, sorry Tiggs, but some of us don't have a winkle Grin

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 22:00

I have 5!

None of them are attached to me though Grin

Buzzardbird · 17/09/2016 22:02

"A boy without a winkle? God be praised, it's a miracle!". And then Sir Thomas pointed out that a boy without a winkle is a girl. Grin

Oysterbabe · 17/09/2016 22:07

We were all ever so disappointed .

ghostyslovesheep · 17/09/2016 22:10

hahahaha oh I LOVE a bit of Nursey Grin

nwbmum · 17/09/2016 22:15

Allsfairinlove I have reported but they refused to take it down. Being nasty isn't illegal unfortunately, but doesn't mean it's right. I agree there are kind and unkind people everywhere in the world, but accepting the world is not perfect doesn't mean we don't want it to be better.
And I'm not saying you need to agree with me, I'm also exercising my freedom speechSmileWho cares about a newbie's opinion anyway? I'll probably be kicked out before settling in. Not built for this tough world of Mumsnet Grin

SoupDragon · 17/09/2016 22:17

We're going on a sock hunt
We're going to catch a puppety one...

Which reminds me that I've not been able to read that book since an unfortunate spoonerism with Hunt and Catch...

Buzzardbird · 17/09/2016 22:20

You tit Grin

Obsidian77 · 17/09/2016 22:26

none of you make me want to be a mum
aww shucks, not enough ickle kittens and cupcake recipes? Now I feel really bad.

MistressDeeCee · 17/09/2016 22:28

YANBU. Some people seem to exist to pick out a specific poster to be nasty to, and then derail whole threads when the OP is asking for advice on an upsetting situation. If they don't agree to your answer to the original post, out come the personalised insults intimating you're stupid for not agreeing. Its a boring way of making the post all about them. The OPs original dilemma sometimes gets lost in it all

I don't think you'll get far pointing it out though. You can swerve AIBU if you're not up for that, other MN sections are interesting enough

I really am curious about what real people are behind all these silly, unfunny, spiteful posts. Maybe it's a good thing I'll never know.

allsfairinlove · 17/09/2016 22:40

Who cares about a newbie's opinion anyway? I'll probably be kicked out before settling in. Not built for this tough world of Mumsnet

Lots do care about a newbie's opinion nwbmum. Honestly, give some of the other boards a chance and hopefully you'll find another side of MN -- there's lots of support available if you look in the right places. The come back to AIBU once you've got the feel of the place Grin you'll love it, I promise Flowers

paxillin · 17/09/2016 22:44

Newbies are great. MN would be finished quickly without them as people come and go.

Newbies who demand we all change for them will be told, sorry, we are one million and you are one. Start your own website and find a million who post the way you want.

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 22:48

This forum like all the others would wither and die without newbies - newbies are very welcome and I can think of more than one who found their 'niche' really quickly and added tremendously to the site in their special interest corner.

It just seems a bit, I dunno, ?immature/?childish to come on, ask 'AIBU?', be told 'yes, YABU' and then start a separate thread complaint about harsh responses. And they weren't even all that harsh.

My bum still hurts from when I was handed my arse on AIBU some 5 years ago or so.... Grin

I still think IWNBU btw

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 17/09/2016 22:50

0dfod

And breath? And breathe, surely.

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 22:55

See, Poppy, there's a Pedant Corner on here too - I love it there Grin
MN offers something for everybody.

AFIN · 17/09/2016 23:00

My bum still hurts from when I was handed my arse on AIBU some 5 years ago or so....Grin

haha, me too Grin. Remember my baptism of fire on AIBU that is. I posted something uppity about noisy children and (rightly) got a flaming from hell Blush

nwbmum · 17/09/2016 23:00

Thanks allsfairinlove i have had a look around and do enjoy some other posts. Just think as a newbie, would've appreciated a huge warning before posting on AIBU Blush

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 23:04

I posted about a situation involving my mum and Christmas dinner and was roasted better than any turkey has ever been Grin

Yes, I think 'AIBU' ought to come with a warning - to newbies, AND to posters to be'ave 'emselves Grin
The MNHQ 'this is not FightClub' disclaimer is a bit too discreet at times.

allsfairinlove · 17/09/2016 23:08

Aww, now that's just silly nwbmum -- it's in the title! AIBU. Am I being Unreasonable. It's like a red flag to the bull! And for MNHQ to give it some kind of PG disclaimer would be a bit ridiculous now wouldn't it?! Not to mention a bit of a fun killer, no?

allsfairinlove · 17/09/2016 23:11

Just a disclaimer to any sockpupetting accusations, I freely admit that AFIN is me! Grin
