Being reasonably new to this site/chat app ...
Having read a few threads in the last couple of days and coming across a lot of unnecessary comments .. AIBU to ask why it seems a lot of women on here seem very quick to throw nasty, horrible insults at other women on here?
I know people are asking for opinions, but, not character assassinations...!
Shouldn't us mums/women stick together and help eachother with advice instead of throwing horrible, bitchy, comments around?

I save that one for best, Buzzard Grin

TrippyMcTrapFace · 17/09/2016 18:16

I like yours better! Camo chimp sock puppet.

RockinHippy · 17/09/2016 18:44

Maudin - totally agree with that comment.

I've been around here a ling time & where as I don't agree with the whole nicey nicey "sisterhood" there is a lot of nastiness just for the sake of it & AIBU shouldn't be a "joke topic" where some poster just pile in on what may well be a serious question by the OP & just belittle, take the pee & just be deliberately rude for the sake of it - when did that one become the AIBU rule of thumbConfused & if thats how it now is, then AIBU isnt what a lot of us think it to be, nor what it was

FuzzyCustard · 17/09/2016 18:48

I'm having a particularly difficult time of it at he moment and I have had the best support from MNers. Real, proper, helpful support that hasn't always been forthcoming IRL.

So there...!

Grin Grin at the sockies.

Some of us are not as clever as we think we are, methinks! Grin

paxillin · 17/09/2016 19:05

Do you walk into a pub and say "Right, this could be a lovely place if you could be nicer"?

What is the deal with the weekly newbie threads telling mnetters how to be? Just start NiceNet for sugar and spice and all things nice.

fastdaytears · 17/09/2016 19:06

Thank god for this. It had been what, three days since the last one?

Buzzardbird · 17/09/2016 19:28

Fuzzy Flowers

nwbmum · 17/09/2016 19:30

Just because there is real support, it doesn't make the nastiness ok. It's like saying it's ok for someone to beat you up cos there are also other nice people in the world

PacificDogwod · 17/09/2016 19:34

Yes, so report the nastiness. Every time.

allsfairinlove · 17/09/2016 19:45

nwbmum MN is like anywhere else in the world, there'll always be a mixture of kind and unkind folk. MNHQ will deal with nasty posts if you report (and it goes against talk guidelines), but you can't control freedom of speech itself.

bellasuewow · 17/09/2016 20:17

Sorry op I find your post quite patronising. I love Aibu as I find most of the posts funny, intelligent and yes feisty. If you don't like it then you can look at something more gentle and ladylike Wink

IonaMumsnet · 17/09/2016 20:26

Evening folks! Just a reminder that while we don't have a rule about sock-puppet-hunting (mainly because that sounds like a whimsical children's book that should never have been written), we really do view it in much the same way as troll-hunting. If you suspect it, report it, as they say. We can see no evidence of sockying here, just to clarify.

Mums netters are vipers they are mean with a poisoned tooth.... I enjoy reading your posts I may be a bitch on some like now but none of you make me want to be a mum

MrsderPunkt · 17/09/2016 20:34

Can't decide which is worse, the same posters repeatedly saying that we're doing it wrong, or an influx of new posters saying that we're doing it wrong.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/09/2016 20:35

Willow's post was spot on.

I actually think it is pretty bad manners to join any group and, as one of your first actions in that group, to start criticising it.

Buzzardbird · 17/09/2016 20:36

Hunting sock puppets is cruel

I think my kids would have loved a book called "let's go sockpuppet hunting with Iona and Justine"
