To think that overheating does not mean she is in anyway unhealthy or unfit. New York can be very warm this time of year and it's only early September.

So many on Twitter questioning her health and whether that makes her good enough to be president. Tbh I would choose a brain dead Clinton over trump anyday. Good she's expected to be president not an Olympic athlete.

OP posts:

I'm in NYC this weekend for the US open Smile. She was in NYC from 8-9.30 and it was not nearly as hot as it was yesterday (unbearable) - I wore a jumper to breakfast at 7.30.
The video seemed pretty worrying.
The running commentary on her health is nothing like Obamas birther detractors.

Wittowoo · 11/09/2016 19:29

lolimax what neuro condition? Has she confirmed something previously?

nooka · 11/09/2016 19:30

Hillary being ill is one of the major conspiracy theories in the alt-right at the moment, along with the one that the Clintons are busy assassinating people. These are the same groups that maintain that Obama wasn't born in the States and is a practicing Muslim too. The fact that Clinton has made available a medical report where Trump has released the most ridiculous letter from a gastroenterologist saying that all his tests are wonderfully positive is apparently immaterial.

I don't think that Hillary is a good candidate, and health should be a matter for discussion because it is relevant, but the double standards in this campaign are incredible. Trump has managed to get a pass on things that would pretty much have disqualified him even from running in the past.

MuseumOfCurry · 11/09/2016 19:33

Trump has gotten a pass on nothing, as it should be. I have no idea what you mean by that.

Lolimax · 11/09/2016 19:34

She (we) have had saggital venous sinuous thrombosis. Basically blood clots across the brain. Both of us lucky to be diagnosed quickly and be alive. However some people do get strokes and epilepsy as a result of it but hers was a few years ago so I'd be surprised if the two were linked now. Treatment (for me) was anti-epilepsy drugs, anti-migraine drugs (post headaches were awful) and blood thinners. I don't actually know anyone else with the same condition. I'm very, very lucky.

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:34

Ironically it was Hillary's campaign back in 2008 that started the Obama birther rumours, I believe.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 11/09/2016 19:40

That video of Hillary supposedly having a seizure that was posted on page 1 is a fake - or at least, it's a genuine video of Hillary but it shows her giving an exaggerated startled reaction to being jumped on by reporters, not having a seizure. Clearly everyone is laughing and smiling, which they'd hardly be doing if she were having a fit. You can see the incident with audio here:

Canyouforgiveher · 11/09/2016 19:41

*I don't give a fuck if she's fucking dying.

They can stuff her remains and hire a ventriloquist until she gets this job DONE.*

I really couldn't have put it better myself.

President Kennedy had terrible health problems, and also Roosevelt (did he have a disability from childhood polio?) Regan was suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's while he was still president. They all managed to do the job and nothing catastrophic happened (except Kennedy of course, but that was not a result of his health problems). Clinton is the recipient of absolutely vile abuse from her opponents and I would not judge her incapable on the basis of a single episode.

And this. She is working a schedule of travel and appearances that would stress a much younger woman. The heat and humidity in the northeast has been horrendous for this entire summer but especially the past week or so.

And I know which vice presidential candidate I'd want to have to step into the breach. Pence is a homophobe who believes women should not be able to access abortion.

MuseumOfCurry · 11/09/2016 19:44

The heat and humidity in the northeast has been horrendous for this entire summer but especially the past week or so.
It was not hot when she was in New York this morning. I had breakfast just blocks from the memorial and I took a jumper with me.

Yesterday it would have been understandable.

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:47

Bad link DivorceBadger. Does it mention the Penn memo?

Washington Post and others (and look at what the Guardian wrote about Obama's heritage) accept the Democrats for Hillary started it.

WaPo says Hillary herself did not. But 'Trump would be on safer ground if he blamed her supporters for stoking the birthed rumors, which do have some Democratic roots.'

A strategy memo, March 2007 by Mark Penn, Clinton campaign aide, suggested targeting his “lack of American roots.”

All of these articles about his boyhood in Indonesia and his life in Hawaii are geared towards showing his background is diverse, multicultural and putting that in a new light…It also exposes a very strong weakness for him — his roots to basic American values and culture are at best limited. I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values. He told the people of NH yesterday he has a Kansas accent because his mother was from there. His mother lived in many states as far as we can tell — but this is an example of the nonsense he uses to cover this up.'

Also from the same WaPo article:

In spring 2008, some of Clinton’s supporters began circulating anonymous emails questioning Obama’s citizenship. FactCheck.org and Politico cited these emails as the first time his citizenship was called into question, by a small group of “diehard” Clinton supporters during the Democratic primary as her path toward the nomination began to fade.

nooka · 11/09/2016 19:50

Trump is standing for the Republican party, which has a set of values that Trump doesn't really align to. Affairs, multiple wives, previous support for abortion, donations to the democrats (including the Clintons), fighting current lawsuits, insulting POW and families of dead soldiers etc etc

In other years probably just one of the above would have been enough for him to have been out of the running. Likewise with Hillary's background you would have thought a better/cleaner candidate would have been nominated by the Democrats. It is a pity that Biden decided not to run as I think he would have been a much more uniting candidate (even though I think it is about time it was possible for a woman to run successfully).

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:51

And of course it was at the Guardian that asked - Could Obama's dual colonial heritage spell the end of the special relationship?

ToffeeForEveryone · 11/09/2016 19:54

It may have been hot if you were at the ceremony, surrounded by 100s of people, wearing a full suit and body armour combo.

Maybe she was hot. Maybe she slept badly, or has a cold, or ate something dodgy. Maybe she just didn't feel well for one of a million everyday reasons.

The "seizure" video is a ludicrous loop of a slightly weird reaction lasting a couple of seconds. It's so obviously fabricated it's actually shocking anyone takes it seriously.

I'm struggling to think of any medical issue Hilary Clinton could have which would make her a less attractive candidate than Donald Trump. She could Weekend at Bernies her first 100 days and she would still outperform the Trump camp.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/09/2016 19:55

To those saying it isn't a 'one off', so she's fainted before, so what? So have I, numerous times. Being a 'fainter' doesn't equate with having brain damage or a lack of mental capability.

Conspiracy theories abound. Next we'll hear that Trump is one of the Lizard People. Wait, now THAT I'd believe! Grin

RestlessTraveller · 11/09/2016 19:56

For fucks sake. Roosevelt was a great president and look at what he dealt with.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 19:58

Hmm the link seems to work fine for me

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:58

I don't know if she's fainted but she's done this weird 'short circuit' in the middle of speeches. She just zones out.

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 20:00

Sorry divorce it sent me to '504' something
I should just copy and paste I guess - I'll do it later. I'm going to the gym, I was supposed to go ages ago but mums net gets very addictive sometimes.

whywonthedgehogssharethehedge · 11/09/2016 20:01

I stood at the memorial for about 20 minutes and didn't feel good. It's very warm in NY, the memorial itself is marble and other shiny things and reflects sunlight.

I think even the best of us could overheat in those circumstances.

Doggity · 11/09/2016 20:02

Speculating over health and unqualified medical internet diagnosis is very intrusive and a bit weird, to be honest. You absolutely cannot diagnose by video or indeed in person, so anyone can be sure is quite beyond me. Perhaps you should pop into a neurology department with your pearls of wisdom, you could save the NHS a fortune. Who needs MRI scans and EEGs, when you've got mumsnet?!

Canyouforgiveher · 11/09/2016 20:03

You can be in perfectly good physical health all your life and then ... wham. What happened before is not necessarily a predictor of the future in health. And let's face it, both candidates are of an age when good health becomes harder to guarantee.

As a voter I am far more interested in seeing Trump's tax returns than either candidates heath reports. In that, I think what happened before is a pretty good indicator of what will happen in the future. Would love to see what tax he has paid, what profit he has made, what charitable contributions he has made.

Canyouforgiveher · 11/09/2016 20:05

but she's done this weird 'short circuit' in the middle of speeches. She just zones out.

She needs to learn the Trump stream of consciousness filler 'I don't know folks, it's sad, it's just so so sad but we're gonna make america great again" del capa al fine. (we now do this at home as a game)

Outtaker · 11/09/2016 20:05

The fact she may not be in great health could perversely help her... It seems lots of people in th US dislike both her and Trump, and are voting negatively against one or the other. If there's more chance that her VP (sorry forgot this name) might end up taking over, those who are tossing up whether they dislike Trump or Clinton more may vote for Clinton.... In reality though I can't see it making any real difference to the race.

Cherryskypie · 11/09/2016 20:06

Trump has intestinal issues that lead to shit spewing out of his mouth.

Why the hell should a woman release her full medical history to have her birth control usage, STI tests, history of cervical smears and possible abortions scrutinised by people who don't think women have reproductive rights.
