To think that overheating does not mean she is in anyway unhealthy or unfit. New York can be very warm this time of year and it's only early September.

So many on Twitter questioning her health and whether that makes her good enough to be president. Tbh I would choose a brain dead Clinton over trump anyday. Good she's expected to be president not an Olympic athlete.

I'll just leave this here

IMO health or lack thereof has not been a deciding factor wrt whether somebody made a good or bad president, or whether they made good or bad presidential decisions.

Being unwell, not appearing to be up to the challange right now is very very damaging for her chances.

Shame that appearances count for so much in an American Presidential race.
If one of the other candidate wins because the other 'appears' to not be fit, if that is what actually wins over voters, then democracy and people's understanding of it is far worse than I want to believe.

WinchesterWoman · 13/09/2016 18:36

PacificDogwood: So you would disapprove of the focus on John McCain's heath I'm guessing.

WinchesterWoman · 13/09/2016 18:37

Adner i don't think she's got pneumonia. And if she has, she's got something else as well, unless her doctors are spectacularly crap and didn't check a woman coughing for a year whether she had a problem with her lungs.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2016 18:42

Let's also not forget that Hillary was quick to mention her head injury when it suited her to "forget things" during the fairly recent email/server case

I don't think most voters are stupid and she surely can't have it both ways. Either she's suffering ongoing effects, in which case it seems reasonable to ask how this might affect her presidency, or it was another convenient lie which doesn't look good either

PacificDogwod · 13/09/2016 18:42

i know nothing about HC's or JMcC's or DT's health.
As it's confidential an'all.

What I was trying to say, is that health is not what makes a person a good president. Nor is illness - or vice versa.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 19:07

JFK had to hide his health problems and the public were unaware of Roosevelts disability not sure that could happen now

If they didn't it would have probably impacted on their share of votes. HC is not only having to prove she is up to the job but that a wome can take on being president

PacificDogwod · 13/09/2016 19:22

And what little information DT has provided re his state of health is so flimsy, it's next to useless.

PausingFlatly · 13/09/2016 19:23

"I wonder if there;s a situation whether they don't drop HC as candidate, but if she's not well enough to debate, Tim Kaine stands in. I have no idea, I'm musing."

Sorry, I'm just Grin at this appearing on the thread.

It's such a Trumpery: [invented thing] + I don't know, I'm just musing.

Technique works for the Donald... seems some posters are finding it contagious! Perhaps I should take it up myself?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2016 19:32

A friend in the US has just emailed me with her view that replacing Hillary could be the best chance of all of keeping Trump out ... she thinks there are so many who'll stay home rather than vote for her, that an alternative (in other words anyone except HC) might be enough to keep him out

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 19:40

That is what I am hearing too Puzzle from family and friends in the states. Obama is a hard act to follow (though many are disappointed that he has been able to do little of what he intended to) and many are dismayed as to why Clinton was given the chance in the first place

Canyouforgiveher · 13/09/2016 19:44

and many are dismayed as to why Clinton was given the chance in the first place

she was "given the chance" through a democratic primary - democratic in both senses of the word.

cosmicquiteprobably · 13/09/2016 19:48

Google her death. Apparently a news station reported it today, then backtracked wildly.
The report is on YouTube.
This is insane.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 19:55

Yes I am well aware of that

But she has never been popular with the public that is why many are questioning why she gained so much support

WinchesterWoman · 13/09/2016 19:59

Pausing - i'm actually genuinely wondering. What would happen if they don't drop her as candidate and she's not well enough for the debates?
I guess they would cancel the debates then?

Puzzled - I agree with you on a lot of Trumpocrats returning to the fold if HC is dropped.

ohdearme1958 · 14/09/2016 03:38

And now it's being suggested she's using a body double.

🙄

Canyouforgiveher · 14/09/2016 04:29

But she has never been popular with the public that is why many are questioning why she gained so much support

Funny thing democracy isn't it.

Canyouforgiveher · 14/09/2016 04:35

Oh and she has been plenty popular with plenty of people - just maybe not those who read the same newspapers you do.

PigletJohn · 14/09/2016 05:21

Why hasn't Trump suggested that she is not eligible to stand for Pres because she was born a foreigner?

Oh yes... because that long-running fake smear has already been used. Needs a new one.

Simmi1 · 14/09/2016 05:45

More to the point why hasn't Trump tried to use her health against her to score points as he always does?

CaveMum · 14/09/2016 06:46

Trump has to be a bit careful at the moment, his own health is under a question mark following that bizarre letter his doctor released. Don't worry, he'll be adding it his ammo, probably for the debates.

Does this whole episode put anyone else in mind of The West Wing (best tv show ever and my reference source for the US political system!) and the episode where Vinick gets a cold while campaigning and Josh celebrates?

PigletJohn · 14/09/2016 06:59

Donald is aged 70 (I don't know how old his hair is) so the probability of one or two health problems will be increasing a bit.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 14/09/2016 09:40

Papers I read Hmm oh that old insult

I spend/t time in America immediate family live there and lots of aunts/uncles/cousins ans many friends there (all democrate voters apart from a few floating voters) keep up to date with news there it's a question that many have asked. If she was trusted more and had more appeal she would be trashing Trump she isn't in the way she absolutely should be

They are really worried maybe they have been reading the daily mail too Hmm

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 14/09/2016 09:42

Trump is no doubt trying to make himself look a little more caring, he played the diplomate when visiting Mexico recently but he can't keep his mouth shut for too long

Want2bSupermum · 14/09/2016 16:39

Trump doesn't need to say anything on this. Best he says nothing and let people make up their own mine. I live just over the water from WTC. On Sunday it was not hot at about 72F when it happened and low humidity. Saturday was a scorcher with high humidity plus in the 90s.

HC is not very popular at all with undecided voters. She has alienated many swing voters with going after the hispanic and female vote. Best move would be to replace her because right now she isn't getting the polls she should be getting and I do not like her pick of VP. There is a good chance that either Trump or HC would have health issues during their term if elected. Trump has picked someone who I think could step in and run the country. HC hasn't. A swing voter might be more inclined to vote for Trump just based on this.

Listening to the radio this morning they went to the breaking news and as soon as it was said they were laughing hard about how Joe Torres was reading the teleprompter and not thinking. They called it a Ron Burgundy moment.

smallfox2002 · 14/09/2016 21:28

I really hope swing voters have more about them than to vote for Trump over such reasons, seeing as there are many, many serious reasons not to vote for him.
