To think that overheating does not mean she is in anyway unhealthy or unfit. New York can be very warm this time of year and it's only early September.

So many on Twitter questioning her health and whether that makes her good enough to be president. Tbh I would choose a brain dead Clinton over trump anyday. Good she's expected to be president not an Olympic athlete.

OP posts:
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2016 18:49

If she is ill and therefore unfit to stand, what would happen regarding the election?

I'm glad I don't have to vote in the US. Not much of a choice between a criminal and a dangerous idiot.

mistery · 11/09/2016 18:50

"What gives anyone the right to speculate about the diagnosis of someone's health on the basis of a couple of videos?"

Probably choosing to stand to President of hte most powerful country on earth?

megletthesecond · 11/09/2016 18:51

I'd rather a physically ill Clinton than a deranged Trump in the White House.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/09/2016 18:51

FFS! The humidity in NYC is terrible this time of year, enough to make anyone lightheaded. Heat + humidity + crowds = trouble.

It's not a 'seizure', it's someone trying to stay upright and fight a faint. God knows, I've done that enough due to Orthostatic Hypotension.

You know, at least two of our greatest presidents, FDR and JFK, had and hid major health problems. I'd say they both did a pretty damn fine job despite those problems.

This is just more 'Trump'-ed up bullshit. You know, as in if you can't beat 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 18:53

Well reports as in the weather report showed a high of 29, for a 68 year old in a suit and body armour I'd say that's hot

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 18:53

Across - yes all that - if it's a one off. But it's not a one off.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 18:55

I lost my post i think, but I was saying that if you vote for president you are voting for the person who has their finger on the big red button.

You are already putting a huge amount of trust in their leadership, at the very least you have to believe the person you are putting all your faith in to probably knows if she is fit to run for office

CaveMum · 11/09/2016 18:56

The thing I've always found baffling about US Presidential elections is that in the majority of cases the candidates are 60+. There aren't many 60+ year olds that don't have a health issue or two!

In the last 100 or so years only 3 Presidents have been elected when in their 40s (JFK - 43, Clinton - 46, Obama - 47).

Of course we've had our fair share of non-Spring chickens in the UK but the average age of candidates for PM has been younger in recent years.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 18:57

Remember when m j fox came out as having Parkinson's? He thanked the press as he felt they had known about his illness and kept quiet. Sure as shit if she was ill the press would not be keeping it quiet. Murdoch would have it blaring from every telly in the world

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 18:58

Cavemum - but with Hillary the medical problem in question may concern the brain. This makes it much more relevant.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 18:58

He thanked the press as he felt they had known about his illness and kept quiet.

  • as very difficult to hide
WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 18:59

Of course the press would keep it quiet. Absolutely they would.

DivorceBadger · 11/09/2016 19:01

Bit chilly

It looked like a simple faint to me. As I am a fainter.
She may have not come around fully the first time and her blood pressure was still low.
The last thing you do with someone who was feeling faint is to make them stand upright while waiting for the car - that'd definitely have me keeling over again.
Some people are just more prone to fainting.

LunaLoveg00d · 11/09/2016 19:04

FDR was in a wheelchair for his entire Presidency.

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:04

Yes for sure - if it's a one off - but it's not a one off. There is much more evidence that there's something wrong with her than this.

Bernie Sanders might be older but they still should have picked him. He would have a much better chance of beating Donald Trump.

WinchesterWoman · 11/09/2016 19:05

Wheelchair isn't the same as a possible problem with the brain.

OldGuard · 11/09/2016 19:07

She's not ill, she's not awful, and she's not a criminal - didn't Bush faint at a press conference when he was president ?

You can agree or disagree with her politics - doesn't make her, or you, a bad person

I don't think she is perfect but I do think she's smart, funny, & genuine, with a boat load of personal and professional experience

Lolimax · 11/09/2016 19:09

Hilary Clinton and I share (unfortunately) the same neurological condition. When I was first diagnosed I took great comfort that someone like her could recover so well.
I so wish her all the best. It's personal.

80schild · 11/09/2016 19:10

I thought Parkinson's was mainly a male illness? I wonder how many male presidents have had heart attacks / similar illnesses and have still managed to successfully complete their term without people speculating. The likelihood is that she is fine.

Birdandsparrow · 11/09/2016 19:12

This is really worrying, not because I believe she has worrying health issues, but because of how this will be used against her. I think she'd make a good president on the whole. She's not perfect but she's clever and dedicated to public service and experienced in government. Trump is terrifying, a narcissistic bully. God help the world if he wins. I feel like I'm watching some awful political thriller this year, this will be used and twisted against her.

CwtchyQ · 11/09/2016 19:13

I just hope she's okay. I really admire her.

This was the very last thing her campaign needed (it being caught on film), as it will just fan the flames.

Sara107 · 11/09/2016 19:14

President Kennedy had terrible health problems, and also Roosevelt (did he have a disability from childhood polio?) Regan was suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's while he was still president. They all managed to do the job and nothing catastrophic happened (except Kennedy of course, but that was not a result of his health problems). Clinton is the recipient of absolutely vile abuse from her opponents and I would not judge her incapable on the basis of a single episode.

GreatFuckability · 11/09/2016 19:17

I've overheated and passed out in december. Its just the way I am, and she has 30 years on me. that video to me looks exactly like someone fighting a faint.

personally i'd put a jacket potato in the white house before The Donald.

HarryDaylight · 11/09/2016 19:20

I read an article in the Guardian today which stated that in 2008 Barack Obama released a 276 page report about his health, but in contrast Clinton has only released a few pages of records and Trump has released only a letter from his personal physician, prompting calls for more details from both candidates.
