I was a massive user of Mumsnet , but i hardly ever visit now because i can guarantee within 10 replies on any thread it will have turned nasty. Why ? I spent many an evening having a real good laugh at some of the stories but now it seems to be who can be the nastiest first . Shame shame .

Always on AIBU, the first response can be something like "who cares" or "biscuit" or "cringe" and it seems to set the trend for a really shitty thread. However, if the first post is nice and helpful, the shit ploppers don't tend to gather.
Sometimes I read the op and think I can help or contribute but then read the first reply and think we'll what's the fucking point Sad

When I think this place is awful I just go and read the comments on you tube videos. Now that is a fucking twatfest.

Goad threads and controversial topics always end badly. You do need a thick skin on mn, if you don't have one, you'll be told Nethuns(?) is better suited to you. There's a lot of sock puppet ting and trolling too so some of it might not be genuine

Personally, i find that it's best not to get too over invested. It's an internet forum, when all is said and done.

I agree that the sex topic is really annoying because it's full of people being shocked or disgusted about what people are posting. If you don't want it to come up on trending then hide the topic.
