I was a massive user of Mumsnet , but i hardly ever visit now because i can guarantee within 10 replies on any thread it will have turned nasty. Why ? I spent many an evening having a real good laugh at some of the stories but now it seems to be who can be the nastiest first . Shame shame .

I'm surprised they even used the word bottom and not delicate tushie cushion if arse offended her

How can anyone be offended by 'arse'? That's made my day. Grin

I think people on the internet are rude or purposely try to make you feel bad because they are unhappy with themselves and want to project that negativity onto someone else.
But its a stranger and it is easy to type something mean to someone you would not say to their face so I would not let it get to you, just ignore.

MaQueen · 07/09/2016 19:18

Soubriquet it just gives me the rage.

I know, for a fact, that 'funny' threads with 'Lighthearted' in the title are patently not funny.

I keep meaning to start a thread titled 'Tell me when you most feel like clubbing your DH to death (most definitely not lighthearted)'

Soubriquet · 07/09/2016 19:20

When Dh leaves the washing up bowl full of used soap water "just in case" even if it's cold and needs replacing anyway Angry

Oh wait it's a hypothetical thread...carry on

MaQueen · 07/09/2016 19:21

Oh, I am soooo tempted to start one [sits on hands]

Wonder how long before MNHQ would feel obliged to pull i

IronMaggie · 07/09/2016 19:25

I've learnt from recent events that I need to stick to certain areas within MN. I don't really touch AIBU anyway but have found that once threads stray into 'Active' you start to attract people who don't necessarily want to contribute to the discussion in a positive or constructive way. I'm definitely using MN less as a result, and have found other 'safe spaces' elsewhere.

Particularly when your name is userwhatevernumber... Harder to keep track of posters like that so they are always looked on suspiciously.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/09/2016 19:27

And seriously, why would anyone see any publicly accessible space on the Internet as a 'safe space' - it isn't!

If you're confusing international, famous and with a huge number of members websites that are open to the world with "safe spaces" then you really are in the wrong place!

kali110 · 07/09/2016 19:40

I don't think it's really any worse.
Certainly more gf around Grin
coconut no this site is not just for moms, just like netmums isn't!
Amazingly they are for everyone!
Netmums is certainly not a nicer place, it's just the moderators simply delete every thread whenever anyone disagrees Grin

Though i'm finding myself on here less due to mnhq and their 'policies'.
I hate that posters can blatantly write posts with animal abuse or things that will harm animals/people's pets and it's allowed to stand Sad

My name is unique, okay!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/09/2016 20:01

Yes but only to you - there are squillions of posters with user and a number and it makes it easier to hide behind it as nobody recognises the individual posters.

I'm not suggesting you hide behind it but other posters do get frustrated by it.

I started a thread on clubbing my husband to death in AIBU - it's going as well as you can imagine Grin

Soubriquet · 07/09/2016 20:44

You got a death wish really haven't you Gin

Post 1 is a biscuit ffs

Crapple3030 · 07/09/2016 20:45

This is quite easily the most obnoxious forum on the Internet. Hope the founders are proud of how the predominantly female posters comport themselves. Real eye opener that is.

Crispsheets · 07/09/2016 20:46

Why are you a member then crapple

Crapple how many forums have you actually been a member of because that's quite a bold statement as I imagine there's thousands if not millions of forums across the www!

If it is that bad then why are you here?
