I was a massive user of Mumsnet , but i hardly ever visit now because i can guarantee within 10 replies on any thread it will have turned nasty. Why ? I spent many an evening having a real good laugh at some of the stories but now it seems to be who can be the nastiest first . Shame shame .

OP posts:

I've noticed posters seem to be really aggressive sometimes and love to pick apart vulnerable posters

I noticed this too!

Arrse is a crypto fascist website populated by military types, or so they'd have you believe. Hardly representative of anything other than the thickest elements of manhood, any more than Reddit which is mostly populated by 1337 haxxor 14 year olds. Not sure about pie and chips or whatever, but comparing mumsnet to those sites is a bit like saying "Look, Idi Amin didn't kill nearly as many people as Hitler or Stalin and anyway you can't hold it against him because he was black".

KittensWithWeapons · 07/09/2016 22:03

Kittens really are cunts, Sandy. Mine like to slash me. I'm also a cunt, but a bit less slashy. Only a bit, mind Grin

Ginslinger · 07/09/2016 22:12

nothing will be better than 'CAT me you cunt' - I wish I could remember the whole thing

Cool If you want to bold text, just put an asterisk at the beginning and end

Crapple3030 · 07/09/2016 22:30

Don't do that, it's not ladylike

CoolToned · 07/09/2016 22:31

Ooops sorry, Livia!

OP don't give up, don't let them win. I kind of feel that MN is the most amazing support group for women. I don't have anything against men and men who genuinely post for support I think are most welcome. But I suspect that MN is being trolled. Just ignore and don't engage with what you don't accept or agree with, or report.

This site has, well, really I find it hard to say, this site has helped millions of people, I guess mostly women, but whatever! We don't all post about our problems but we read and we take on board all of the posters experiences and all the advice. I think that MN is as supportive as Womens Aid because it is more accessible. Come on OP. You can help a lot :)

WankingMonkey · 07/09/2016 22:40

So many threads like this recently...AIBU section has always been quite harsh. I disagree that people are 'nasty' as such, but its common to have a lot of 'harsh' replies. Simply as there is no point pussyfooting around...much easier to be straight to the point. IMO anyway.

KittensWithWeapons · 07/09/2016 22:42

What's not ladylike, Crapple?

CoolToned · 07/09/2016 22:45

Sometimes though I see replies to people which are kinda pointless. Or just being deliberately mean. But I guess MN is a reflection of real life anyway. I'm happy to see posts though who are genuinely trying to help and understand the OP's situations. We get those here, too.

KittensWithWeapons · 07/09/2016 22:48

'comparing mumsnet to those sites is a bit like saying "Look, Idi Amin didn't kill nearly as many people as Hitler or Stalin and anyway you can't hold it against him because he was black".'. That's exactly what it's like. Why, oh why did I never think of that oh so pertinent and not at all ludicrous analogy? Shame on me Sad.

Crapple3030 · 07/09/2016 22:55

arfarfanarse Do you know why I think this is one of the worst sites on the web? People actually come here for support. Nobody posts on Arrse, Reddit, 4chan or any of those other fucknugget sites with their intimate and difficult situations and ask for help. They do here and more's the pity because it's a fucking bear pit.

Now I have my share of problems in my life just like everyone else but I'm fucked if I'd tell you lot about them. I might get some useful and genuinely insightful advice but don't you just know it would be interspersed with a load of ad hominem guff from a bunch of pissed up harridans. Is that not, in essence, what this thread is all about?

Never mind dear, go back to advising OPs to LTB, life ain't half simple on the other side of a keyboard innit?

Doggity · 07/09/2016 23:00

Crapple Why did you name change?

ilovesooty · 07/09/2016 23:01

I wouldn't start a thread asking for advice on a really intimate or personal problem or a situation where I'd worry about the responses. I don't name change and I don't believe any internet forum open to the general public is a safe place.

Crapple3030 · 07/09/2016 23:02

Because user123443212 or whatever it was felt a bit impersonal.

WankingMonkey · 07/09/2016 23:02

I had a PM from some silly cunt who felt it important to share with me that I wasn't as funny as I thought I was. I found it hugely amusing although I didn't answer because I thought 'fuck off you humourless wankrag' was probably not going to help the situation!

LOL. I haven't had one of these yet but I hope I get one soon. My main offense seems to be using the word cunt a lot..apparently it offends a lot of delicate flowers to the point where they feel the need to piss and moan and make a huge fuss about it Hmm

ILoveDolly · 07/09/2016 23:02

I've been on mumsnet 10 years. It's got larger and I think the slightly more friendly feel it used to have has gone. I don't join in much now. I saw the FB comments today but really that thread they were responding to was full of the most outrageously unhelpful rudeness
