Don't know if you remember my thread awhile ago about a certain chocolate retailer leaving me out in the street in my wheelchair, because they had no disabled access? Well they promised a bell as they refused to put any ramp in. Went there today and guess what? No fucking bell. I'm suppose I should have expected it, but I had hoped the bell could have been sorted by now. I mean how long does it take to put a bell up?

Needless to say I didn't sent my hubby in for the chocs and went elsewhere.

What purpose would the bell serve though?

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 30/08/2016 18:39

I'm confused, how does a bell replace a ramp?

Chocolatekeepsmesane · 30/08/2016 18:39

I do remember your thread. It's disgusting how many places are not acsessable for wheelchair users. A bell is so cheap and easy to fit as well 😟
My dh gave me bravissimo vouchers for Christmas but they are on the first floor with no lift so that's useless for me.

Chocolatekeepsmesane · 30/08/2016 18:41

The bell doesn't replace a ramp but if you know what you want to buy they could serve you from the door. Very very far from any sort of good service though.

3littlebadgers · 30/08/2016 18:42

I remember your first thread. It is awful they aren't accommodating people. I hope you found some move chocolate elsewhere op

OpenMe · 30/08/2016 18:44

Some places aren't allowed to put in a ramp because of planning regs but a bell would enable them to come out to help you and/or bring out the portable ramp

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 18:47

No bell. No portable ramp either.

It's such a small step but they really don't care.

Looks like the thorntons in my town.

sorry I know that doesn't help

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 18:50

It was supposed to be so I could get served from outside. Which in itself isn't great but better than nothing. Well two months on, nothing has changed. I have emailed the person I dealt with last time and asked them why no bell yet.

It's Norwich

Wanted a message on choc for our first anniversary coming up soon. I hardly go anywhere at the best of times but this type of thing doesn't encourage me to go out more.

Angry I would avoid Thorntons in the future and spend my money elsewhere. FYI if you absolutely love their chocolate and must have it, you can order online from QVC -much better value.
Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 18:55

Though I did go to asda the other day and used their scooters. At the checkout the person in front of me offered to put my stuff on for me. The checkout girl packed and I even had a nice young man summoned to put it in my car and return the key to customer services. That was a nice change. I usually get shopping delivered.

OP posts:
totalrecall1 · 30/08/2016 18:55

I know this isn't the point but could you order it online? It looks very small maybe hard to manoeuvre in there too.

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 18:57

Don't really even like their chocolate but it's the only place that ices messages on chocolate plaques.

Not going to order online and pay postage fees. Not when I'm in Norwich already. Now I'm not going to put a single penny their way. He can have a giant Millie's cookie!

OP posts:
ButtMuncher · 30/08/2016 18:59

That's a real shame - Norwich is pretty hot on equality of access for retailers in main shopping areas. I suppose it's discretionary and shop dependent but is it worth a shout pinging a message to local council/MP and copying them in on correspondence? They could always speak on your behalf.

Maybe try these?

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 19:01

I'm not sure Thorntons would care.
