Don't know if you remember my thread awhile ago about a certain chocolate retailer leaving me out in the street in my wheelchair, because they had no disabled access? Well they promised a bell as they refused to put any ramp in. Went there today and guess what? No fucking bell. I'm suppose I should have expected it, but I had hoped the bell could have been sorted by now. I mean how long does it take to put a bell up?

Disgusted that this hasn't been sorted yet. Might be worth posting something on Facebook again- I will gladly like and share! They've handled this really badly. Don't promise something and not deliver it ffs.

pudcat · 30/08/2016 20:17

We were in a city - not sure if it was Cardiff (on holiday) or Worcester (on way home) and I saw these portable blue ramps everywhere. They took up very little room.

youarenotkiddingme · 30/08/2016 20:21

Oh but would t it be fun just to order one little truffle choc and make them deliver it for free!

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 20:22

Lol I could be evil like that!

OP posts:
RhiWrites · 30/08/2016 20:24

Contact Angela and ask why the reasonable adjustment promised wasn't delivered.

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 20:27

Queen of the Pirates , so pleased to hear you do this. Shops like yours deserve to do well, I hope yours does.

OP posts:
JellyBelli · 30/08/2016 20:27

Get a big Santa type bell like lepers used to carry and shout Unclean.

Blind people can negotiate ramps so I dont see how they could possibly be a hazard to anyone else.

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 20:27

I have Rhi, no answer yet.

OP posts:
Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 20:35

If only I had the strength to lift a big bell. I would love to roll up and ring one! Lol.

I'm in Norwich area too - I will make a point to speak to them next time I'm in that area.

My dad is disabled and runs a charity supporting people with the same condition. I will get them to contact Thorntons regarding this branch as I'm sure most of their supporters will have the same struggle that you have. If enough people shout then they have to listen. (Though they should have had a ramp in place before it was an issue for anyone at all!!)

SingaSong12 · 30/08/2016 20:42

This is ridiculous as they have already said they are going to make an adjustment. I haven't read previous post so this might have been covered. The equality and human rights commission has a lot of information. This includes what you might be able to do-
www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/advice-and-guidance/dealing-discrimination-when-using-service

Even if you don't up in court you can send a letter. There might be a local organisation such a Law Centre in your area which might be able to help in drafting letters.

cheapskatemum · 30/08/2016 20:56

I came on to suggest Hotel Chocolat at the other end of Chapelfield too, whatthe beat me to it. I would love to see your plight plastered all over the front page of the EADT, though! You could write to both your MP and the Norwich one.

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 21:35

I'm too shy to do that.

OP posts:
Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 21:38

Hate any attention. I'm going to have to take further action, I was going to to begin with then my health got worse but this is taking the pee now.

OP posts:
Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 21:40

I refuse to allow them to treat disabled people like this. A stand needs to be made.

OP posts:
Groovee · 30/08/2016 21:41

I remember your thread. I'd go elsewhere.

Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 21:43

It's not about just me though, it's about the attitude of disabled people not mattering.

OP posts:
Mummyme1987 · 30/08/2016 23:45

An attitude that so many places seem to have

Hi Thanks for your message, unfortunately we don't have a confirmed date of when the bell is due to be fitted, Angela is on annual leave at the moment however as soon as she returns I will pick this up with her. Many Thanks Rachel@Thorntons

£5.99 Angry

Thorntons really are not doing themselves any favours here. Angry

Is there an email address. I would offer to buy it - is there any Mumsnetter nearby who could fit it ? You'd have to have a couple of minutes to spare though. Angry

Mummyme1987 · 31/08/2016 12:37

I have been messaging via Facebook.

OP posts:
Flatbox · 31/08/2016 12:42

I'm going to send them from Amazon. £8.99 it will be there tomorrow. Plug in & stick on bell push. Installation time 1 minute. Can someone go in there on Friday & check it is up and running & if not ask why? It's appalling for a company to behave like this

Flatbox · 31/08/2016 12:55

Bell sent to them .
