I'm seeing more amd more ridiculous "God save the queen" type posts on Facebook. Aibu to be sick and tired of it all. She's 90, big deal, lots didn't get to that age because of a lifetimes poverty and hard work. I mean real work not signing a few papers and getting chauffeured about.

A bit like when William and Harry were seen "working hard" with shovels when we had the terrible floods a few years ago

If you had been there OP you would have seen that they DID work extremely hard alongside all the other Forces personnel who were working their arses off to try to save people's homes.

Oh what? You weren't there helping? Righty-ho then.

seagaze · 12/06/2016 18:04

Oh what? You weren't there helping? Righty-ho then.
If I was a Royal told to in order to win favour yes I'd have been there. Apart from that it was nowhere near where I lived, No ones denying they didn't work hard, it was the reason they did it. Every single time the royals get a bad press something like this happens. Were you there by the way.?

UANBU at all!!! Totally agree with you OP!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/06/2016 18:30

People who weren't there 'working hard' with shovels might perhaps have been
A) working hard on flood damage where they live, because they don't live in a castle with people to do it for them
B) at their actual jobs that they have to do. Like, real jobs.

exLtEveDallas · 12/06/2016 18:39

No ones denying they didn't work hard, it was the reason they did it

Well Harry did it because his Regiment deployed. So he was doing what he was ordered to do by his Commandinh Officer and the MOD. That's his reason.

William did it as part of his Search and Rescue training - again ordered to do so by someone in his chain of command. That's his reason.

Are you letting your hatred of the Royal Family get in the way of the facts? It's nothing special, plenty of people consider themselves Republications and would happily do without a Royal Family. But they manage to do so without making up stories to support their views. There are plenty of reasons that the Monarchy is an outdated and irrelevant institution - why make stuff up?

exLtEveDallas · 12/06/2016 18:40

Oh and yes, I deployed to a flood zone, and spent the next two weeks puking and shitting through the eye of a needle due to contaminated waste poisoning. It was a fucking hard job.

Grilledaubergines · 12/06/2016 18:51

People object to the queen. Her not doing anything, having an easy life blah blah blah. And in the next sentence they say they're going to watch the football. With players earning hundreds of thousands of pounds. Having an easy life and doing pretty much fuck all for it.

DameXanaduBramble · 12/06/2016 18:53

So you admit she does fuck all and has an easy life, Grilledaubergines?

OK, they do get paid shed loads, but do you know how talented these players are? They haven't just been plucked from the local pub team.

MrsSpecter · 12/06/2016 18:56

Wow if anyone is clutching at straws here it certainly isnt me. Again, dont let the facts get in your way. You are determined to remain ignorant. I'm not sure why. Either way, No skin off my nose.

DameXanaduBramble · 12/06/2016 18:58

And I can choose whether or not to pay to see footballers, out of my own money. Don't get that choice with queeny.

DameXanaduBramble · 12/06/2016 19:03

Ignorant or not particularly bothered either way - take your pick, doesn't bother me, MrsS!

seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:03

Dallas what a load of nonsense. So two separate employers coincidentally ordered two brothers to go and help with the flooding? and the cameras just happened to be there too? You're the one making up stories, and how come we know all about the puking up? oh yes to let us know how hard working they are.

OP posts:
Grilledaubergines · 12/06/2016 19:04

dame

Firstly I wasn't aware I was on the stand do no, no admittance necessary. And no, I don't agree with the notion she does nothing. Just mindful of some of the other opinion.

Talented players. Well something we need to disagree on. They're not that talented in m opinion and certainly not worth what they're paid.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 12/06/2016 19:08

And who is it that pays footballers ....?

I don't mind if people want to grovel to the queen. Well, a bit. But I do find the claim that she works hard or ever has fairly offensive and stupid.

seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:09

mrsspectre Exactly what facts have you given us? oh yes you desperately tried to remember if there was ever a time the queen worked. It might have been a fact but a totally irrelevant one that wasn't even worth mentioning. Any work that the royals are shown doing are publicity stunts. Even they know that, not that they'd admit it. As long as the gullible fall for it all, they're happy.

OP posts:
JellyBellyKelly · 12/06/2016 19:10

If I was a Royal told to in order to win favour yes I'd have been there

Genuine question. Why do the Royals need to win favour? It's not like they need to in order to win the next election, is it?

Grilledaubergines · 12/06/2016 19:11

seek do you not realise the level of curruption and tax evasion going on in the football industry. It's not all lovely and innocent, you know. You're paying for it.

seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:14

Dallas right just realised you were referring to yourself puking up and it was hard work but you were deployed there. Do you ever get deployed to watch Wimbledon or World Cup finals? probably not, you have to be Royal.

OP posts:
MrsSpecter · 12/06/2016 19:27

Yawn. You ask for facts, are given facts but no, theyre the wrong facts. Youre not interested in hearing them. You just want to carry on with your hate filled ignorant whinges. For some reason. Have to get your kicks somewhere i suppose.

exLtEveDallas · 12/06/2016 19:30

I'm not making any stories up OP. It's how the military works - the HCR (Harry's Regiment) were on MACC rotation (Military Aid to the Civil Community) so they were tasked to deploy to the flood zones. They would have been there no matter what, Harry was there alongside his fellow officers.

Same deal for William.

And yes, the military get employed to go to Wimbledon www.bfbs.com/news/articles/army/4155

And at football matches/rugby matches/the olympics: most major sporting events Grin

derxa · 12/06/2016 19:31

You still haven't described your unique contribution to the nation, OP.

seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:32

mrsspectre your posts are a bit naive and childish, I've stated a few times that the royals don't work hard, I've not asked for people to give me facts at all. I made a point of answering your absurd claim that they do, but all you could come up with was the queens stint driving lorrys or whatever 70 years ago in the war. Grin

OP posts:
seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:34

My contribution? didn't know you were interested, what the hells that got to do with it. Suffice to say I've paid tax all my working life. It's what the royals live off you know.

OP posts:
RogerMelliesmother · 12/06/2016 19:38

I think it is admirable that the queen has represented us all her life, I know that she gets the very best of everything etc and probably wants for nothing at all.

What bothers me is she appear to have this condescending attitude towards the masses I think. Todays street party on the mall, when she was being driven in the open top car up the mall she leaned forward and told the driver ti out his foot down - she obviously didn't care about the thousands of people who had queued for hours to get a glimpse of her - she just wanted to hurry up and get out of there. Why does she have to have this miserable face on her all the time? She was like it all day today. If she's had enough she should step aside and let the younger royals get on with it.

seagaze · 12/06/2016 19:46

Dallas your link referred to the military at Wimbldon in a working capacity. William got to go with his wife as a spectator in the front row. Not the same. I'm aware he's not in the armed forces any more, he also always manages to get leave from his latest job for similar events.
