To actually hate most things about UK summers

Where do I start?

Flys. In the house, shitting everywhere. Sitting on my fruit and playing bloody games with me.

Sweating. I can't go for a walk, do the school run without looking a sweaty mess. I never know what to wear either as its cloudy first thing then baking hot later. The gym is not a nice place to be and neither is actually going for a run.

Sun cream. Sticky and horrible. Kids hate having it on. I hate putting it on them.

Sunhats. On afore mentioned kids. Won't keep them on.

BBQs. Horrid. Too much meat, rolls going crispy where they've been left out. Sweaty cheese. Limp, warm salads.

Smug people sat outside pubs because they can

Everyone saying isn't the weather lovely.

Roll on Autumn. AIBU?

MadisonAvenue · 10/06/2016 14:59

Thunder now. THIS is weather I like, I love a bloody good storm!

squoosh · 10/06/2016 15:03

London is always showing off!

Summerdreams · 10/06/2016 15:14

I agree much prefer autumn the people sitting outside pubs really gets to me. How can these people manage to sit outside the pub so much? I want to sit outside a pub all day Envy

Summerdreams · 10/06/2016 15:14

Im in london and its cloudy they lied Grin

notamummy10 · 10/06/2016 15:16

Grumpy I see your pain as I'm in the midlands but I'm so happy... Hopefully it'll cool down so I can wear my jeans without sweating and getting sunburnt knees :(

EveryoneElsie · 10/06/2016 15:17

I went out earlier and it was cloudy. But muggy, hot and damp.
Then I got caught in a monsoon on the way home.
Now there is a thunderstorm over the house with terrifically loud lightning.

And it is still muggy, hot and damp.

Verbena37 · 10/06/2016 15:48

Totally agree jubileepancakes.
I actually cannot physically tolerate any heat above about 19/20.
Then I'm done in.

Everybody thinks I'm weird but I think it must be a hormone thing.

English summers with once weekly rain and sunny but cool would do me fine.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 10/06/2016 16:22

Same here Verbena I've always wondered do I have a different 'thermostat' than other people. Can't function at all in the heat.

MadisonAvenue · 10/06/2016 16:55

It's been heavy rain, thunder, lightning and flash flooding for a couple of hours here now. My 16 year old son hasn't left school yet (it's 4.55pm) as they're all sheltering in the hall. We're just north of Birmingham.

I love Summer days but what I hate is the unreliability of our brief Summer. It always seems to pour down on my annual leave days. This week I am off from Thurs last night til next Weds but typically the sun has blazed all week only to go grey and drizzly today and probably all weekend. Can't plan anything outdoors here bah!

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 14/06/2016 20:16

Is everyone enjoying the lovely coolness and rain Grin Ahhhh!

pearlylum · 14/06/2016 20:28

No I'm not enjoy the wet cold days. I had to put the heating on this morning and I have wet washing drying all over the house.
Thank god I;m off to Greece in a few weeks.
