To actually hate most things about UK summers

Where do I start?

Flys. In the house, shitting everywhere. Sitting on my fruit and playing bloody games with me.

Sweating. I can't go for a walk, do the school run without looking a sweaty mess. I never know what to wear either as its cloudy first thing then baking hot later. The gym is not a nice place to be and neither is actually going for a run.

Sun cream. Sticky and horrible. Kids hate having it on. I hate putting it on them.

Sunhats. On afore mentioned kids. Won't keep them on.

BBQs. Horrid. Too much meat, rolls going crispy where they've been left out. Sweaty cheese. Limp, warm salads.

Smug people sat outside pubs because they can

Everyone saying isn't the weather lovely.

Roll on Autumn. AIBU?

Oh I was in Tesco today to fight people for ice cubes do some shopping when a family walked past me - one man in his 60s, another maybe late 20s and two boys - and all four of them were topless and sweaty.

Like, for God's sake. I know it's summer, but Jesus it's common decency not to rub your sweat over the tills as you lean over to pay. Yuck.

suit2845321oie · 09/06/2016 18:11

I love every second of summer, I feel alive and like a different person. Nothing nakes me more miserable than months and months of grey damp weather

BeckerLleytonNever · 09/06/2016 18:53

Fat men with no tops on....mind you, Anyone with no top on, sweaty hairy man boobs and hairy beer bellies. ewwww!

kids up at crack of dawn and staying up till late screaming all day (not mine, everyone elses!)

cunty twunts with bbq's when washing's out.

same people with loud noise they call music all bloody afternoon till stupid o clock in the morning.

Heat, sweat, swollen legs and feet (mine), insects.

and much much more.....

roll on winter!

BeckerLleytonNever · 09/06/2016 18:57

and hay fever. bad. DC get it so bad she has nose bleeds all summer.

and bloody annoying weather forecasters who say its a lovely day, lots of sunshine. hate it when they say ''im afraid its a miserable day, rain today'.

not everyone loves fucking summer.

and twunty mid life crisis guys in open top cars! playing ganster rap! loud.purleassse

ShelaghTurner · 09/06/2016 19:33

Anyone who complains about only having 10 days of summer and it being 20° obviously aren't in London or the SE. Come and take the bloody awful humidity away back up to wherever you are.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/06/2016 19:38

Summer isn't my favourite season of the year but to be moaning about it after just a few days of normal UK sunshine just seems so joyless and negative to me! Be happy for the people around you who are perked up and energised by the sun, have an ice cream, switch the fan on and smile!

JulieJuniper · 09/06/2016 20:40

It's the relentlessness of it that gets to me - even if "summer" is only here for a couple of days every so often. If it rains, I can get dry; if it's cold, I can get warm. But we have humid summers here, not dry heat which I could probably cope with better. So, when it's hot, it's also humid, and that drags me down. Even though I live in an old-ish house which is mostly cool in summer during the day, by night-time the bedroom has heated up (even though it faces north), so sleeping becomes a problem.

I do envy those who relish hot weather. I don't seem to have the genes for it.

ChipsandGuac · 09/06/2016 20:52

Errr, Shelagh. It's only 18° in London according to the forecast 😄

"Anyone who complains about only having 10 days of summer and it being 20° obviously aren't in London or the SE."

That would be me then. I live on the edge of the Pennines and am pathetically grateful for anything above 20 degrees.

"Nothing nakes me more miserable than months and months of grey damp weather"

This ^^ is the type of weather we usually get most of the year.

" but to be moaning about it after just a few days of normal UK sunshine just seems so joyless and negative to me! Be happy for the people around you who are perked up and energised by the sun, have an ice cream, switch the fan on and smile!"

Well said Bibbity

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 09/06/2016 21:18

chips but it's 67% humidity which is quite high and makes normal temps feel uncomfortable. Though it's nothing compared to China where some of my friends live, in all the photos they are constantly sweating!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/06/2016 21:21

I'm in London and I've got my cardi on! We had our heating on last week.

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 09/06/2016 21:22

Hate summer.
Hate having to keep windows open when neighbors are being sociable in their gardens until all hours.
Hate having to listen to everyone else's music/conversations/fighting/playing.
Hate being a sweaty mess.
Hate hay fever.
Hate heat rash.
Hate sun waking me at 5.30am.
Hate long evenings where I feel obliged to do stuff, in winter it's pj's at 6pm.
Hate sun burn.
Hate mosquitos.
Hate summer.

NicknameUsed · 09/06/2016 21:24

And this is our weather forecast for the next few days.

Now you understand why I get exasperated at people who moan about warm, sunny weather.

LuluJakey1 · 09/06/2016 21:25

I love summer. I lve:
The long days
The birds chirping morning and night
Waking up early and lying in bed with the windows open when it is just light- cool air and the smell of the lawn and honeysuckle
The doors into the garden being open all day for DS and the cats
The flowers in the garden
The apple tree blossoming then getting all its tiny apples and watching them grow
Being able to go out for walks when DH gets home from work and it is still light
Not needing coats and thick black tights
How fruit and salad appeals more in summer
Feeling healthier
Going on holiday
Playing with DS in his paddlng pool in the garden
Long weekend days to enjoy

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 09/06/2016 21:25

Forgot...
Hate exposing bare flesh.
Hate blisters.
Hate stinky feet.

MarshaBrady · 09/06/2016 21:25

I love summer and I'd love it to be hotter and longer. And I love late nights, wish it wasn't going to be past the longest day soon.

LaBelleOtero · 09/06/2016 21:31

Now you understand why I get exasperated at people who moan about warm, sunny weather.

No I don't Grin

I'd love that to be the actual forecast, in fact I'd love downpours, But as it is, I bet it will be blistering again tomorrow afternoon. The forecast promised me overcast weather the other day and I got sunburn...

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 09/06/2016 21:32

Lulu that reminds me
Hate fucking birds tweeting their poxy heads off at silly o'clock in the morning.

Winter is a vastly superior season.

HangingRockPicnic · 09/06/2016 21:36

Yanbu.
Having to put my paleness on show instead of hiding under my snug duvet like coat.
Hayfever.
Worrying I'll get burnt.
Flies.
Wasps.
Sweatiness
The kids being at school in the scorching hot sun. They break up for summer and the sky instantly goes grey as the holidays are at least a month too late.

NicknameUsed · 09/06/2016 21:41

I love summer Grin

ArgyMargy · 09/06/2016 22:11

I love summer. I love birds, bees, flowers, daylight, breeze through the trees, bats, rain showers, cut grass, dew, open windows, fluttering net curtains, washing on the line, butterflies, cats asleep in shady places, the sound of kids playing. Just love it.

NicknameUsed · 09/06/2016 22:33

Mooingcow · 09/06/2016 22:35

Smell of sunburnt arms
Flowers at night
Roads after summer rain

Sallystyle · 09/06/2016 22:39

It's going back to being cloudy and around 16c tomorrow which is meant to last a week at least.

The nice three days we had was probably our summer!

OptimisticSix · 09/06/2016 22:41

YANBU Argh being red and sweaty and I've put on weight and don't want to take off my hide behind jumpers...I know everyone still knows I'm fat really but it's less obvious surely... also the sunscreen thing... also Hot Cross Kids (like hot cross buns but not at all yummy)... I like Spring, and Autumn... and rain!!!
