To wonder if people who always upload selfies are vain or insecure?

I have a few people on my Facebook who upload selfies of themselves every single day, now these women aren't teenagers in fact one of them is almost 30 so I can't help but wonder to always be uploading selfies are they just vein or really insecure & seek out people's likes & approval? 🤔 Either way it's like a get a bloody hobby 😆

I'm torn here, YABU though, it's their Facebook, if you don't like it, don't follow them. I do agree with you though, it's like they constantly are attention seeking & need validation. So I agree with you but, let & let live

You are probably right, they could well have low self confidence and self esteem, and need reassurance, hence the selfies.

I have a friend who does this, and then also adds them to Twitter and Instagram. Fine you say, her feed her rules.

She then also sends them to our whatsapp groups. My entire camera roll is made up of pics of this one friend. How do you possibly tell someone to stop doing that??

The most beautiful woman I've ever known never takes selfies. I think that it is an insecurity thing. It's also about having control over your own image. Everyone knows that when you get tagged in a photo, you look quite different to your selfie.

I've taken a few before going out, just because I've made some sort of effort for once. It's nice when people give me compliments on fb, because I've always been so ugly. I needed that. The beautiful woman I know doesn't need it. She's beautiful inside and out, and has never put others down or made them feel bad.

Well if I took a nice picture I'd probably do the same but I have not mastered the camera pose as I've aged to be able to hide the neck wrinkles without ending up with several different chins generally looking rough as fuck.

Looking back at my old photos the ones u had to wait a week to come back from truprint, I'm quite posy in most of them except for the drunk ones and in my youth I remember trying to take a selfie with one of those old cameras and being totally blinded by the flash for about a hr!

I probably would of put them on fb had it been about at the time even when I was 30!

i have very few photos of myself as I am not beautiful and I spend much of my time feeling invisible. I rather admire the amount of confidence shown in the act of putting your own face on social media.

I have a Facebook friend who does this, and she gets lots of comments saying how beautiful she is. She is fairly normal looking really, not unattractive but not gorgeous, but I suppose she gets the result she wants. She's recently had a child so now we get lots of mummy and baby selfies too. It makes me roll my eyes quite a lot but it's no worse than my friend who posts endless pictures of her daughter at riding competitions or my friend my friend who posts her bike ride routes every night.

I think it's the usual thing of when women are the ones typicaly doing something, society views it as pathetic/vain/self-absorbed, but if men were the ones doing it, it would be new and ground-breaking and exciting.

I'm torn on the insecure thing. I am very insecure about my looks as I'm extremely plain. So I very, very rarely do selfies.

I think constant selfies is a bit of a vain/ego thing really, especially if they're always getting comments such as 'ur gawjus hun' and 'beautiful babez'. Nowt wrong with enjoying a compliment, but a constant stream of selfies in order to get them is a bit irritating.

One of the school mums is on holiday at the minute and she has put at least 3/4 selfies on a day of her on the sun lounger etc. She's in her 40's and it makes me feel a bit cringey and embarrassed for her. I realise she doesn't give a flying fuck what I think but it just seems such a teenage thing to do.

On the other hand selfies can be lovely My dds were out last night Dd1 treated her sister to a night out first since d2 turned 18 and they posted a sister selfie was really nice to see and i got a bit misty eyed at it

Although I do find it annoying when people post 10+ selfies a week, it's only 'cause it's a little bit cringey and I imagine them taking 20+ photos just to find the one selfie they like..

only because it takes me a good few photos to get one I like..

Although I hate those people who post status' like 'so upset' or 'feeling so annoyed' - because then they get the flood of comments like 'omg hun what's wrong' and then will be like 'inbox me bbe'.

You don't seem to like these people, so perhaps you should concentrate on your actual friends (or find some?).

Yup my vote is for Vain and insecure.

I've noticed teenage relatives posting lots of selfies, often followed by comments "You look gorgeous" etc. It saddens me that they're all so obsessed by looks, rather than personality & enjoying themselves

I love a selfie. I love seeing my friends' selfies! Why wouldn't I? I like that they felt beautiful and happy and excited that day, and they took a photo to document that.

It's narcissistic but that's the nature of social media.

I don't get why you'd post umpteen. All anyone ever thinks when someone does this is 'what a twat', never 'Oooh look at those cheekbones.' Surely everyone knows how insecure it makes you look, so why do it?
And those who type 'you're beautiful' or whatever as a comment, are simply ensuring you post similar back on their own pictures.
