To wonder if people who always upload selfies are vain or insecure?

I have a few people on my Facebook who upload selfies of themselves every single day, now these women aren't teenagers in fact one of them is almost 30 so I can't help but wonder to always be uploading selfies are they just vein or really insecure & seek out people's likes & approval? 🤔 Either way it's like a get a bloody hobby 😆

I am undergoing some pretty major orthodontic & orthagnic work which is greatly improving how I look and giving me some confidence for the first time in my life. I love selfies now although I don't post that many, maybe once a week. It is nice to look good at last.

WorraLiberty · 03/06/2016 11:56

Nobody complains that people hundreds of years ago sat for hours to get portraits painted of themselves.

Utterly brilliant MyCat!! Grin

I think its kinda sad that we seem to have gone full circle from early decades of doing what we want and freedom of expression and now its rolling back with social media being used to fat/beauty etc shame for everyone to conform.

""I think the really insecure people are more likely those who spam the newsfeed with photos of their babies/grandchildren every day""

So exactly what do you think FB is for and what are we allowed to post.

And who put you in charge? because they clearly made a big mistake.

There's a lot of people on this Forum, who have too many unresolved issues to be on SM, at all, or even out in public, at times.

WorraLiberty · 03/06/2016 12:24

WTF Birds? Confused

I was answering the OP.

Facebook photos don't bother me in the slightest. If they did, I'd simply stop using Facebook...

Hockeydude · 03/06/2016 12:34

It's become something that people "do" these days unfortunately.

I don't think that the people who do it are necessarily insecure but I would say that a person who is completely secure and doesn't give a fuck what people outside their immediate family/close friends think of them would probably not upload lots of selfies.

It is a shame that we have turned into this type of society, so quickly.

mrsfuzzy · 03/06/2016 12:35

sad people, sadder lives.

WorraLiberty · 03/06/2016 12:40

But how are they sad people with sadder lives?

They're just doing their own thing.

Their thing just happens to be different to yours mrsfuzzy

MrsJayy · 03/06/2016 12:47

They are hardly sad people with sadder lives they are people who post pictures thats all i might find it a bit irritating sometimes but they really are doing no harm

Egosum

I bet there were a few comments when they were finished - along with the 'It's been photoshopped' comments - when the painter has been quite generous.

You won't need to explain that to Henry V111 he married someone on the strength of her portrait which was erm, how do we put it - flattering

Facebook is to take your data and sell it to the highest bidder.

AlanPacino · 03/06/2016 14:36

Maybe their hobby is uploading selfies?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 03/06/2016 14:48

blindsider , ooh which wife?

at least our approach is a buit more egalitarian, any one peasant or noble fucker can do FB!

2rebecca · 03/06/2016 16:02

It sounds as though you need to be more selective about who you are Facebook friends with if you think your friends are vain.
One of my friends loves his selfies but he knows it's daft and OTT and he's a friend so I don't care and just laugh at them/ ignore them depending on how busy I am.

InternalMonologue · 03/06/2016 16:51

I don't get the serial selfie posting. BUT. They're not hurting anyone. I also know a lot of women who wouldn't have any photos of themselves with their children if they didn't take selfies.

MrsJayy · 03/06/2016 16:56

There was a thread like this a while back chat turned to selfie sticks they were daft etc but a poster pointed out she was alone with her children so a selfie stick was the only way they got photos together was a fair point

3dogsandacat · 03/06/2016 17:01

Maybe their hobby is uploading selfies?

That's the saddest thing I've ever read.

3dogsandacat · 03/06/2016 17:11

So many t shirts are see through now.

I've tried wearing a nude vest top underneath, but you can then see where the top of the trousers ends (from underneath the tshirt) Which to me looks wrong

So I very often end up wearing a vest top in the same colour as the trousers? Then there isn't a broken line showing through.
Is this acceptable?

It always looks alright to me, but I'm not sure Hmm

3dogsandacat · 03/06/2016 17:12

Wrong thread.

nanetterose · 03/06/2016 17:34

3dogs but not totally out of place. Grin

Lertle · 03/06/2016 17:38
