All PIV = rape??

Stumbled across this article...

witchwind.wordpress.com/2013/12/15/piv-is-always-rape-ok/

Seems not only to be strongly arguing that all PIV is necessarily rape, but is incredulous that a feminist could think differently! AIBU to think this is bonkers or has the virtually the whole population of women (who don't think this way) just been brainwashed?!

I hate abbreviations. What is PIV?

Just5minswithDacre · 21/05/2016 22:23

I tried to read the Andrea Dworkin book in which she expounds this thesis (the title escapes me).

It's one of the handful of books I've ever given up on part-way through.

All just way past the point where theory resembles reality.

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:24

It's feminists like the one on that blog that ruin feminism for everyone else. It feels like women like her dont want equality they want a female takeover.

I love men, well, one man in particular, and feel the average Joe in the street gets a bad rap because of radfems. I do, however, find some points they raise (trans issues) things that I agree with.

As for piv being rape. How insulting to those who have been raped.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 21/05/2016 22:24

I can almost see where she's coming from, but it seems to be a rather damaged, lonely place with very little accountability. Let's face it, lots and lots of women want to have sex 'more than once a month'. We're nothing like as controlled and oppressed as she's making out.

Just5minswithDacre · 21/05/2016 22:24

Penis in Vagina Pregnant

AnyFucker · 21/05/2016 22:24

it's not a "movement"

do you think the comments under Daily Mail bullshit articles are a "movement"

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:25

anyfucker PIV involves a lot of movement if memory serves me right

AnyFucker · 21/05/2016 22:26

ah yes, Toxic

or summat

Just5minswithDacre · 21/05/2016 22:26

Piss off Toxic

AHellOfABird · 21/05/2016 22:26

"the post had the support of all the comments.."

Most individuals who blog retain the right to post or not post responses at their discretion.

ephemeralfairy · 21/05/2016 22:27

I wonder is it the act of penetration that she objects to or the penetration by a man?
Because women can penetrate themselves/each other...

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:27

Why should I piss off?! Confused

missbishi · 21/05/2016 22:28

Is it just PIV that is rape or does up the arse count too?

AHellOfABird · 21/05/2016 22:29

"feminists like the one on that blog that ruin feminism for everyone else"

So, since you'd never heard if the blog before this thread, you were an ardent feminist, but now feminism is ruined, you'll be handing your vote back and asking your dad to counter sign your application for a bank account?

Wow, that's a pretty powerful reaction. Perhaps you should talk to someone about your impulse control?

wallybantersjunkbox · 21/05/2016 22:29

Anyfucker much as I respect you, no one on that thread accused you of man hating, I simply said not to be harsh on the op for wanting her husband to ejaculate.

Play fair please.

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:30

How about oral sex? Is that OK or is that rape? When you think on how many women loathe anal and oral sex in comparison to vaginally which really is worse?

user1463231665 · 21/05/2016 22:31

Good topic to discuss. Rape is a legal construch which means different thigns in different countries and at different times. In the UK today it includes PIV sex without consent.

Outside of that people can object to whatever they like. Plenty of women are asexual. Many are lesbian. Others want PIV sex every day and as much as they can have. Some like XYZ sexual practices and others ABC. Sex is wonderfully varied and no two women are the same.

There is nothing h owever wrong in women who don't like the idea of PIV sex expressing that view. We don't actually need it. We just need a bit of a sperm bank to generate more babies so it's down to what we prefer. If you like it have it. If you don't, don't. Unlike for men most women can get it as much as they like. Men often have to pay as it's harder for them to get it.

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:31

Wow way to read far too much into a post ahellofabird what I was saying is its posts like that blog that make people think feminists are a bunch of loons and feel feminism isn't for them

I am quite fair, Wally

I got the Hmm face for questioning why the holy grail of sex was that the man had to ejaculate

I didn't see you acknowledging that important point

AHellOfABird · 21/05/2016 22:33

What? Did I read too much into a single post and extrapolate? Was that unreasonable?

But you just said "people" would do the same with this blog post. How puzzling.

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:34

I'd like to know that too tbh anyfucker luckily it's not a view I've encountered irl

ToxicBits · 21/05/2016 22:34

I'd still like to know why I should piss off

VestalVirgin · 21/05/2016 22:34

@AHellofABird: Grin

Yeah, I don't think it is possible to "ruin feminism" for women who want to be feminists, and the others ... well, if a woman doesn't want to have human rights, I cannot help her. She won't become a feminist no matter how attractive we make feminism.

"There is no way to eliminate the pregnancy risk entirely off PIV and the mitigating and harm-reduction practices such as contraception and abortion are inherently harmful, too." How does this apply to DP who had a vasectomy 10 years ago?

Vasectomies can fail. The word "entirely" is important here.

Though you do have a point - sex with an eunuch would be completely safe. Wink

I don't think she has given much thought to that, though - vasectomies are not exactly a popular contraception method.

zoobeedoo · 21/05/2016 22:35

User14 I agree with what you've said, but from the other point of view,as someone who values piv sex with my partner extremely highly, it would be nice not to be considered somehow subordinate/submissive or any less of an equalist/feminist than those who don't like it. I'm not saying that you've said that, I mean the original argument.
