It's this sort of rubbish (along with some of the disgusting, heartless and vile comments I've read about transwomen) that makes me despise this type of "feminism".

I'm not putting the author of this claptrap in the same stable as some of the trans hate I've read - she may feel differently about that. But there are people with some truly vile views out there.

It's an interesting well written piece. I don't agree that PIV sex always causes harm and as I regarded pregnancy as one of my most wonderful life experiences and having babies I don't view PIV sex as causing "harm". However a lot of her points are well considered and most women for example don't even orgasm through PIV sex anyway so it's hardly necessary for their sexual expression depending on their kind of sexuality.

We could certainly organise a world where there were no PIV sex and if we wanted to be pregnant choose from a sperm bank. I have a relative who had her children by sperm donor at a clinic. Not everyone wants men in their lives never mind up their vagina.

Indeed - exceptionally defensive! I was just fascinated that this stuff was out there and there were clearly a group of people who supported this view... The post about what utopia would be is particularly 'radical' with 'less evil' males over 14 kept isolated from any contact with each other and living in huts, and put to work cleaning up the planet... The 'more evil' ones are just killed.

As a lesbian, I come from a community which has separated the sex act from the reproductive act totally. But even amongst gay men it is odd how many still think that sex without a penis or a penis substitute just isn't sex or real sex or not the real thing (banana, cucumber, tofu for example where the whole point was not doing penetrative sex). So WHY is the conventional, straight view of what sex is so penis-centric? Clinton and Lewinsky? Duh the patriarchy innit and sex as reproduction from the male point of view ( think annulment due to a penis-centric and repro-centric view of what marriage is for.). I always find the fact that so many posters always tell us how much they vehemently love cock every time this comes up very telling. Oh, the annual "ALARM- a femininst has said PIV is rape!" thread. Almost missed it. I don't think mumsnet is going to collectively point and laugh at feminism or even just Dworkin, OP.

It's a bit like laughing at Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner", because taken out of context like that it is evidently untrue.

Instead of examining TheHorribleWorldEvilFeministsWouldCreateMwaHaHa how about looking at the world we live in and trying to do something about it. 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted, violence is overwhelmingly a male problem, women hardly bother to report rape as they are blamed for it. That's in this country.

These are huge problems and issues that exist now, not in fairy wairy magic feminist land which is actually starting to look a lot saner when you look at our reality.

My daughter is already being told to shut her mouth by boys or they will take pictures of her and put them on instagram. She is being shoved in a corridor because she said she didn't want to go out with a boy. She has to listen to vile sexist comments as a lot of the 10 year old boys in her class view porn and already have a distorted view about sex.
