HoundoftheBaskervilles · 21/05/2016 10:43

Ohhh, NRTFT, but, fuck that, WE'RE pregnant? Are we fuck.

Just read Shark's contribution too.

Not sure what my hubby is doing now, but I'd put money on the fact he's not pregnant.

Sillybillybonker · 21/05/2016 14:49

It is obviously not true and therefore a stupid thing to say. I can't bear hearing people say it. It is effing ridiculous.

thebestfurchinchilla · 21/05/2016 15:41

I cringe too.

WorriedOrStressed · 21/05/2016 15:44

YANBU hear it a lot in my line of work. So I'll get take some blood from you (DH/DP) usually works Grin

WorriedOrStressed · 21/05/2016 15:45

'Just' take some blood rather!

heidipi · 22/05/2016 00:29

Any views on "we're breastfeeding"? Yes really. Said by a male colleague a a late drinks work do as he chugged free booze. I may have said "well you're bloody not..."

DoinItFine · 22/05/2016 02:20

You can chug free booze and breastfeed.

Not if you're male, admittedly.

"We're breastfeeding" is fine where "we" refers to mother and child/children.

paxillin · 22/05/2016 02:31

We're breastfeeding Grin. "We" will be menstruating next.

Spring2016 · 22/05/2016 03:18

Yes, it sounds stupid. A better term is "We are excrpting". I luckily have never met a person in real life who would be caught dead saying "we are pregnant".

Spring2016 · 22/05/2016 03:26

*expecting

heidipi · 22/05/2016 09:39

Doin yes you can but it might be tricky to manage regularly with a young baby (context was that he and his partner had a similar aged DC to me, I was back at work and had stopped BF, but bless him he managed to work AND BF round the clock. What a hero 😂)

paxillin · 22/05/2016 09:53

I wonder if a bra-like contraption that can be filled with expressed breastmilk for breastfeeding daddies would sell.

pigsDOfly · 22/05/2016 10:08

Oh yes, Paxillin I rather think it would, to a certain type of man absolutely. Do it.

I'm going be watching Dragons' Den every week from now on:)

Only1scoop · 22/05/2016 10:10

Sounds like that contraption from meet the parents Grin

Robert de Niro style

Lndnmummy · 22/05/2016 10:20

Hate this too

DoinItFine · 22/05/2016 11:09

Nope, you can get this almost human-like contraption that actually makes the baby in its womb and then makes milk with its breasts and the baby can just feed from it. If you get a decent model it also does all the housework.

You get to be "equal parent" without having to bother doing any work at all.

AugustaFinkNottle · 22/05/2016 11:22

I think I read somewhere that it's theoretically possible for a man to induce lactation. So if someone said "We're breastfeeding" to me I 100% would pretend to take it extremely seriously, and ask detailed questions about whether he's taking hormones, how long it took before he started producing milk, whether that means his breast tissue has grown, does he have to wear a nursing bra, and what his views are on men breastfeeding in public ...

heidipi · 22/05/2016 23:45

No to the bra-like contraption because of the extra work for the woman involved in expressing to fill it.

Maybe just a Feeding In The Early Weeks simulation kit consisting of some sandpaper and a couple of bulldog clips, with an alarm set to go off every 2 hrs or less night and day.

pigsDOfly · 24/05/2016 12:58

I like your think Heidipi.

Would have loved that kit for my exh. Brilliant.

bethPxx · 05/04/2017 23:00

Has anyone ever took apart a pregnancy test and found a second line just next to the strip that absorbs the urine??

What does it mean?

Amockingjayhey · 05/04/2017 23:05

Nrtft but yanbu. Hate it . Sounds ridiculous. Is ridiculous

MulderitsmeX · 05/04/2017 23:27

I hate it too, when i was Pg i said something like "im x weeks pregnant" and DH's friend fucking corrected me to include DH!!!
It's not accurate and makes the whole thing too twee grr....

kel1493 · 05/04/2017 23:37

I can't stand it. We're expecting a baby, or we are going to be parents is fine. Not we're pregnant, you're not, either the woman or one of the women for female same sex couples is pregnant.
