To ask what you had for dinner?

I cook, DH cleans. Every morning I ask him what he'd like for dinner and he always says he doesn't mind. I enjoy cooking and am happy to spend time preparing something nice but I'm out of ideas and bored of cooking the same kinds of things so am looking for inspiration.
Tonight I made sweet and sour chicken and noodles. What did you have?

Teriyaki salmon fillets with soba noodles with a honey sesame dressing and broccolini. Boeuf Bourguignon tonight - just put it in the oven.

Eastpoint · 11/05/2016 03:29

Chicken breast stuffed with feta & spinach on orzo with sugar snaps & the rest of the spinach. Everybody ate it to my surprise.

steff13 · 11/05/2016 06:25

Lemon chicken, asparagus, and macaroni and cheese.

Outfoxed · 11/05/2016 06:27

Chicken Kiev, sweet potato mash, peas and broccoli, because when I'm sad I eat like a v. middle class toddler

Oysterbabe · 11/05/2016 07:34

Some great ideas here Smile
Tonight I'm making beef stew with swede and carrot mash because the weather is horrid. I'll revisit this thread when I do the food shop.

Baked cod, broccoli and carrots, potatoes

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 11/05/2016 09:07

Made a puff pastry pizza from a slab of jus roll and used pesto as the base, with tomatoes mozzarella and a bit of ham. Served with tasty leaves

SinglePringle · 11/05/2016 09:32

Vegetable soup. No rolls or similar.

Lunch was smoked salmon on rice cakes and a banana.

Twinklestar2 · 11/05/2016 14:57

We have loads of roast chicken leftover from yesterday so if anyone has any inspiration for tonight's dinner, please share :D

Jambalaya - chicken, chorizo and prawn. Because I bought fresh prawns and needed to use them (and finally remembered to buy more paprika)

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 11/05/2016 16:47

Tonight I have a leg of lamb in the oven, sea bass for DH as he does not eat meat, served with jersey royals, cauliflower we bought on sun straight from the farm, and green beans, cheese sauce(for cauli and fish),gravy and ...yorkshire puds! i know I am a heathen eating yorkie pud with lamb but bet DH has one (or three) with the fish which is worse IMO Grin

Twinklestar2 · 11/05/2016 16:58

Husband has made spag bol so I'll have the chicken for lunch tomorrow with salad - thanks for the tip tho soap34

RortyCrankle · 11/05/2016 18:05

Tonight I will be having dover sole, chips and peas followed by strawberries and hagen daaz ice cream.

WhataMistakeaToMakea · 11/05/2016 18:23

Um half a packet of fresh pasta and a pre made sauce. I honestly never knew people ate these kinds of meals just as every day meals! I was brought up on some kind of pasta dish or a jacket potato every day. Veg in my house is sweetcorn, carrots or some kind of frozen or tinned beans! I feel like a total cheffy failure now!

AerithEarling · 11/05/2016 18:26

thanks to the person who mentioned spinach and mushroom pasta, made it today was lovely. Trying to eat less meat. Great thread op

AerithEarling · 11/05/2016 18:30

twinkle i usually turn my roast chicken into a chicken noodle soup or have chicken pasta. Maybe you could do the same thing i had but just with added chicken.
I used milk, butter and Philadelphia cheese to make a creamy sauce, with nutmeg and pepper. melted it down with spinach and mushroom then mixed with pasta, topped with parmesan cheese.

DragonMamma · 11/05/2016 18:36

We had some marinated lamb fillets with lovely new potatoes, some roasted peppers, courgettes and onions with a jewelled cous cous (that bit I bought!). It was lovely!

Tomorrow it's chicken, stuffed with manchego with chorizo, rice and peas.

DragonMamma · 11/05/2016 18:36

I always turn leftover roast chicken in to a risotto. Usually with chorizo and/or squash.

TheUnsullied · 11/05/2016 18:44

Chippy tea last night (fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce).

Tonight is chicken burgers because I have no room in the freezer for the buns I bought for them and I got sent short dated ones on my online shop Angry

It was supposed to be chicken and bacon pie. I'll probably make that tomorrow once I've checked the dates on everything else.

Notso · 11/05/2016 18:46

Ham and butter bean risotto with peas and asparagus.
Was unsure if DC3 and 4 would eat it as haven't made it for ages but they wolfed it down and asked for seconds.
DD 15 however shunned it for tomato soup and a ham ciabatta.

plominoagain · 11/05/2016 18:53

Today we had meatzza , topped with mozzarella and salami, with salad and garlic bread . An experiment , treated with initial suspicion , but there weren't any leftovers. An excess of the base has been turned into meatloaf for another day .

MewlingQuim · 11/05/2016 18:54

Most of our meals are made up from what is found in the fridge/freezer/veg box with a little inspiration from a cookbook.

Tonight was going to be pork stir fry with peppers and rice but discovered at the last minute there was no rice left. Quick rethink and made pork, peppers and tomato sauce with fusilli pasta.

We haven't had pasta for ages as DD prefers rice. She only ate the pork but DH scoffed everything I put on his plate and then went back for seconds Smile

crazycakelady · 11/05/2016 19:13

Salmon, cous cous and roasted veg. One of our faves!

alwaysanauntie · 11/05/2016 19:15

Place marking here as I'm desperately in need of inspiration!

Tonight it's herby meatballs in homemade tomato/leek/onion/herb sauce with pasta and grated cheese.

Tomorrow something with chicken thighs as they're going out of date...
