To spend £1000

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

The Scarlet is gorgeous, from what I've seen. However, that was with my nose pressed up to the laptop screen, after my shift selling matches.

TheoriginalLEM · 27/03/2016 22:29

£500 a night?? London?? i hear travel.lodge do a good deal and maybe you'll have some left over for a burger king!!

if you can't afford london you're better off going to somewhere less expensive. I hear milton keynes is nice.

treaclesoda · 27/03/2016 22:30

oh, I was about to log out of mumsnet and do something more useful. But this thread looks fun...

ijustwannadance · 27/03/2016 22:30

Hate to tell you OP but even this bitchy super poor woman has stayed in the Chester Grosvenor. It ain't that posh.

MyAmDeryCross · 27/03/2016 22:31

Why on earth are you asking for travel advice from super poor bitches and stalking this thread rather than spending your time researching a blissful break and seeking opinions on luxury travel forums?

sodabreadjam · 27/03/2016 22:31

For £1000 I'd expect to take the mattress home.

DH and I are going for a week's all inclusive to the Canaries (four star) for not much more.

Baboooshka · 27/03/2016 22:32

Looking at the mum's netters that like a bit of luxory.

Feck off to Luxor, then.

Mum's netters. WTF? It sounds like a regional euphemism. How's yer netters, mum?

PurpleDaisies · 27/03/2016 22:32

Looking at the mum's netters that like a bit of luxory. DP is shocked at bitchiness of super poor women.

At lest some of us "super poor" women can spell "luxury", even if we can't afford it.Biscuit

HelsBels3000 · 27/03/2016 22:32

Shocking attitude. You could be more considerate with your phrasing.
Sat Bains is Michelin starred - Nottinghamshire. As for spas, Ragdale Hall is well rated by -wealthy- friends of mine.

Tiggeryoubastard · 27/03/2016 22:32

Pmsl. You may claim to not be 'super poor' but you're still stuck with each other. Wherever you go there'll be a shortage of class. And yes to pp, the Chester Grosvenor is nice enough, but not uber fantastic.

CreepingDogFart · 27/03/2016 22:32

So are you paying for you and your boyfriend, is he treating you for your birthday or are you splitting the bill?

lorelei9here · 27/03/2016 22:34

£1000 for a weekend

and it's not even "money money"

Am I the only one who wants to weep rather than make a bitchy remark?!

Titsywoo · 27/03/2016 22:34

Pennyhill Park in Bagshot

At least I can spell.

Oh and maybe it's time to grow up. Money can't buy class Biscuit

WellErrr · 27/03/2016 22:38

Ps I have actually stayed in the Chester Grosvenor spa.

But I'm not telling you what it was like.

I'm a super woman, but I'm not particularly poor. I am a skinflint, though, and would want something pretty damned unforgettable for £1000.

And would automatically rule out anywhere attractive to someone with as much klass as you, jaim. The people I would rather associate with, even in the loosest sense of the word, tend not to class someone as bitchy for having different priorities or being "super poor". Poor show.

lorelei9here · 27/03/2016 22:42

Thanks Fatrascals
it isn't even that I want it for a weekend, it's just the idea of having that much to spend on nothing important.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 27/03/2016 22:46

Is he wanting to take you away to tell you he wants to maui you??

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 27/03/2016 22:51

happygoluckylady · 27/03/2016 22:52

A hotel in Jaywick would suit you down to the ground I suspect.

Casperthefriendlyspook · 27/03/2016 22:53

Gosh you're a stuck up delight.
Nicest I ever stayed in was the Sheraton with the One Spa in Edinburgh. You wouldn't get 2 nights for 2 people for £1000 in high season though.
Totally not worth the cash though, BTW.

We need an under bridge dweller icon on NM Easter Grin

LadyTrevelyan · 27/03/2016 22:57

Much cheaper would be to buy a few bottles of White Lightning, go to the pound shop and get some swanky candles and baby oil.

I think it sounds like a good evening. Cheers!
