CBeebies weirdness

Home with poorly DD, she is 8 but illness had her regressing into watching CBeebies. Is it just me who reckons Katy from I Can Cook secretly hates kids?

Also wtf is going on in Balamory? Who thought it would be a good idea to have a Scottish policeman trying to dance calypso?!

Hope she's better tomorrow, I can't take another day of it...

We are big My First fans. The companies can only make what the BBC is willing to commission. It's good wholesome TV and a great way to start conversations about things like moving house or going camping.

The absolute worst is that new Aladdin show 'jamiliah and aladdin' is it?? Awful.

I detest Alvin, Blaze and Balamory. Unfortunately my DD only agrees with me about the latter.

Why is Tony Welch referred to as Tony Welch by all the characters? And who calls their kid Tony?

Report
matildasmama · 24/03/2016 15:49

The Rain Dance badge tops it just for the song!

I could write an essay on the wrongness of Mike the Knight. Why do these people listen to him? How does he still have any friends? Where is the father? Poor Queen Martha is a single parent trying to raise two very odd children, I salute her!

Matildasmamma the Tony Welch thing winds me up! Why doesn't anyone say anything? Surely his parents must get pissed off their child continually being referred to by his whole name lol. And Mike the knight I agree his mother needs a medal Grin haha

Love hey duggee, something so relaxing about Alexander armstrong's voice!
Ds loves lets play, he has a great imagination and I'm sure that helps. He also loves Mr Tumble et al. He made me chuckle once; looking for his Darth Vader action figure: 'Where's Darth Vader?' [changes to Justin sing-song voice] 'He's somewhere here. When you see him, wave or cheer!'. He also randomly comes out with 'It's time to sign. You sign xxxx' and does completely random hand signs for whatever word he's come up with.
I can't stand the lady off Show me Show me. She seems so uncomfortable on tv, not natural at all.
I quite like Katy. She makes cooking with kids seem so effortless.
What kind of a fucking name is Topsy?!

Yep, he doesn't listen to his friends then takes their ideas as his own and gets all the credit.

And don't get me started on Postman Pat, the most incompetent postman ever. Can't even deliver one fucking parcel five minutes down the road without ballsing it up.

I get annoyed (far too annoyed really) that Mr Maker never cuts anything out at the edge of card but in the middle causing lots of wastage.

They even had the cheek in one episode to give Pat an award for always delivering on time! Are they on drugs?

I met Katy at butlins about 3 years ago. She was lovely to the children and spent ages talking to my daughter (we were first in the queue for photos so that may have been it). She even picked my daughter up for the photo, and made a fuss over her dress saying it was just like she wore when she was little.
In quite concerned for horrid Henry though, I know he is a bit sneaky but I think he is just acting up because of the favouritism shown to the brother Sad

DS2 outgrew CBeebies a couple of years ago so I was finally free after 13 long years. Me Too was one of the most disturbing programmes I've ever witnessed. I've just started a new job working with women with babies who often have older children as well. Every single fucking house I visit has CBeebies on, often very loud. Just when I thought I was free.
Whenever there is a thread about Justin (usually started by some disturbed individual who fancies him), there's always a 50/50 split between people who've met him and say he's lovely and people who've met him and say he's a cunt.
He's obviously got some kind of split personality.

I once almost convinced a childfree mate that Me Too was part of a fiendish pinko commie BBC conspiracy to educate children about alternative types of families. Because Granny Murray is clearly about 35 and therefore had her own children when she was 13 and they have followed in her footsteps, the train steward bloke is in a platonic marriage with the female taxi driver as both of them are in fact gay, and there is at least one single parent (haven't watched it for years but remember the conversation...) Halo

DD is now returning from work of an evening singing Zingzillas songs and muttering about ranger sam. I feel I've slipped into a parallel universe.

THIS TIMES INFINITY. He's called Mr Waster in our house.

We watched CBeebies for the first time in a while today (usually watch Nick jr) and Sarah and duck was on.

I never realised how sarcastic that program was

I have an Oliver who is now four. For two years at preschool he was called (equivalent of) OliverHathaway (all one word) and when his little friends started phonics they thought that was his actual name Grin It's only now 2/3 through Reception that they've realised Hathaway is his surname...

We have a good friend with the same name as my daughter (not good friends until after children were named!) and at one point they were called bigX and littleX but neither like this so they are known by their full names!
